Leonard scuttled along the bottom of the lagoon, just far enough out to stay completely underwater. While he had a hard time accepting what had happened, being able breath underwater was a novel concept. That, and he wasn't willing to go out of the water, lest someone he knew see him.

What was he supposed to do now? He had no idea how to get food, or any basic survival skills for living in the water. Hell, he didn't know where to sleep.

Then something Aiden had said filtered through. Wesley or Hailey would know. They'd been living like this for awhile. "Wesley! Hailey!" He called out, not realizing how his voice now carried underwater.

Jessie has in a bit o a fragile state, a lot of welled up emotions had burst out when Hailey and Wesley approached him a while ago. He should have never avoided everyone so much, and denied grouped up with them. He was an idiot.

Since then he’d been tagging around Hailey a lot, she was the only person right now he felt like staying with, there was still that little crush too. Though he was feeling hungry right now, and he couldn’t very well go eating his usually diet of fish in front of her. He was trying to convince her he had no intention of eating her. Which was true, for the most part.

He approached the reddish figure in distance away, he thought he’d heard someone calling from it.

With his eyes now adapted to underwater viewing, Leonard caught sight of something purple. His antennae twitched as he thought of what it could be. It wasn't wesley or Hailey, so it must have been a wild fish or something. His instincts told him it could be a source of food, so he should check it out. Moving forward cautiously, it eventually came into view as a large octopus.

"Jessie? Is that you?" The kid had certainly changed a bit since he last saw him. But there was no doubt it was him, once he got a good look. "How have you been?"

Jessie stopped in his tracks as best he could once he saw it was Leonard, it’d been hard to make him out, his eyesight wasn’t what it used to be. He kept his distance, that being the length of the much longer than before antennae. Leonard was certainly different, he was a shrimp now. Well that added one extra person to the lagoons waters.

“Er…alright I suppose” He immediately lied, the last time he’d met up with some one, he’d cried all over Hailey’s scaly blue shoulder. He thought it a lot better to omit that. He also decided not to draw attention to Leonard’s change.

Jessie didn't seem to want to get any closer, and Leonard was inclined to let him stay away. He didn't need a repeat of what happened with Aiden, from what little he could remember anyway.

"That's good, that's good." He said, trying to keep the awkward conversation going. "So, I was wondering, if um, you had any advice about this." He guestured at the water around them. "Living here, I mean."

Leonard fidgeted with his claws, feeling the tougher skin. "I really don't know what to do now. Where to sleep, for example."

Ironic how Leonard was keeping his distance because he was afraid he’d react like prey, and Jessie was keeping his because he might react like a predator.

Living here? He wondered, all Jessie did was catch fish every now and then when he was hungry. But Leonard was a shrimp now, he didn’t think he’d be up for those right now.

“Advice? Erm” he looked down at his tentacles in the same fashion someone would look at their knees. “Maybe you should start looking around for food you like?” He knew Hailey was into some kind of coral stuff, maybe he had some similar taste in food now.

As for sleep, he doubted he could help him there either, Jessie was quite comfortable nestling himself in the rocks in his camp. But he was the one without any bones, Leonard however, was quite the opposite. “Sleeping? I sleep at my camp in the rocks, I have a mattress there?” He said, unsure if he could use that.

"Just try eating things around here, then?" That made sense, in a way. Hopefully he wouldn't eat anything poisonous. "A mattress? Well..."

Leonard was about to reply, when he suddenly had a coughing fit. It was getting harder for him to breathe, and eventally he had to go towards the shore to get above the water. Something told him that he needed air. For a while, he sat there, coughing up the water from whatever he had for lungs now. "What the heck? I wasn't having a problem a moment ago." Leonard hadn't realized he wasn't completely adapted to the water yet.

“Yeah I suppose” He shrugged, which looked odd since he had no bones in his shoulders, or anywhere really. All the coral stuff looked the same to him, now Hailey liked the stuff was beyond him, he had tried the stuff once before, it was like eating slimy bits of brittle rocks.

“You okay?” He asked as he followed Leonard to the shallower water, his head sticking out so the water just touched his chin. “You should stick to staying out of the water…er…right?” He tried to sound helpful, but in a way that clearly wasn’t. It was tiring for him to stay up towards the surface, he was more sued to crawling along the bottom, and his tentacles weren’t suited for continuous kicking.

"I don't know. I can't really move much outside of the water now. So I figured I was supposed to stay in it." Leonard hit the water with a claw. "Dammit, this is so confusing. You went though this, right? What did you do?" Like Jessie had all the answers.

Jessie didn’t exactly want to answer Leonard’s question, evidently he’d forgotten. Shortly after he’d become water bound Leonard was the one who found his crying his eyes out on the shoreline. And reminding him of that really wouldn’t be helpful right now.

“I don’t know really…I just say in my camp” He was starting feeling increasingly guilty for being useless. “I guess I’m more build for it, sort of”

“I-its not like anyone else is like…like you really”

Leonard remembered that meeting, but he hadn't thought to bring it up. He wasn't even sure how many times Jessie had changed then.

He glanced down at himself. He sure wasn't. Of course, Jessie wasn't like anyone else, either. "That's true. I guess I'll need to deal with stuff as it comes up."
Leonard cleaned an antenna as he talked. It felt more natural to do shrimpy things now. "Is there a place everyone stays around?" Maybe he could still find Wesley or Hailey.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:21 pm

“Y-yeah” There wasn’t much he could say on the matter. He tried to ignore Leonard’s odd new habit of running his claws down his antennae.

“Not…not really” He half sighed “There’s a camp Wesley was talking about, he wanted to make something for everyone to stay at, but there’s not much we can do without some other people” He pointed with a tentacle floating on the clam surface of the water, towards the general direction of one of the beach’s that lined the Lagoon. “I guess he’s sticking around there”

He nodded. "I remember that now. I ran into him there right before he changed." Most of the days on the island seemed to blur together. But for those instances when someone changed, it was always a vivid memory.

Leonard shifted a bit to try and find what his most comfortable position was, and one of his antennae brushed against Jessie. He moved away quickly at the bizarre sensation. "Sorry. That was...you..taste weird." As soon as the antennae had touched Jessie, it was like he'd licked him.

Jessie nodded as best he could with most of his neck submerged. “You should see them then when you can”

He supposed Leonard’s antennae where like his tentacles, but at least his where one his face, Jessie’s where needed to move, he had to taste coral and sand everywhere he went. For a moment, he nearly asked Leonard just want he tasted like, but he quickly realised what was going to be quit obvious, like octopus. "Err...." Unsure what to say now "...it's okay"

"Yeah, I will." He agreed.

Leonard ran a claw down an antenna. He hadn't noticed, but he could taste his claw as he did so. Another was lightly brushing the sand, and he could taste that too. There were some other sensations, but he didn't know what they meant. These things were going to take a lot to get used to.

"So where were you heading?" He asked, looking to break the awkward silence with some small talk.
