Repost po ito. Galing sa aking blog. I just want people to see people's comment..

I have been reading Frankfurt School. A known school in Sociology which is an advocate of Marxian Ideology. They are classified as Neo-Marxist but there is something about them that differentiate them from other Neo Marxist Ideologies.. and that is, THEY ALREADY LOST HOPE IN THE PROLETARIATS! They lost hope because they believe that the proletariats today, unlike in marx's times are already cooped by the capitalist system.

what then is their hope in order to change the world and get rid of the capitalist system? It's a simple and "cute" answer. Their hope are the GREAT REFUSALs. Those who refused to buy the mainstream culture. Those who disregard what the culture is peddling them. The so-called deviant and weird people who chose not to conform. The unaware revolutionaries.

Still thinking of what I read, I realized that there is somewhat truth in what the Frankfurt school suggests. Those who choose to conform to culture remain passive. They have the same thinking and determined minds because they are conditioned to think that way. They lost their ability to think critically and negative about society therefore, it made them robots of the capitalist system. On the other hand, those who refuse to exercise great refusal to what the culture is giving them is really out of the system. They are the ones who created brilliant ideas and they are the ones who invent new things. They can be considered revolutionary even if their consciousness is not because they are countering the culture. Their minds don't have limits because no social control is preventing them from violating the norms. They are free from the falseness, pacifying, repressiveness and stupefying effect of the mass culture on the society. By these thoughts, it is positive to say that IT PAYS TO BE WEIRD: DEVIANT AND DIFFERENT.

Hmmm...I have read that quote before somewhere (other than your blog). Anyways, your post is about speaking up for a change or something. Well, you pointed out the good things and the bad things about whether speaking out or not. It's an unalienable/natural rights of ALL humans...but for each rights we have comes a responsibility. If we keep speaking out about the negatives within our society, it causes dissidence and turmoil. It is ok to speak up sometimes, but not all the time. Humans are greedy and selfish...they'll always want more...so it's natural that they will always complain. But if we keep complaining, it could start something disastrous...like a civil war. Plus, it's bad for the economy if you always boycotts or welga.

Then again, changes occur when people speak up. Revolutions are tragic...but it is for the good of civilization. Through revolutions...new ideas and philosophy pop up. Accumulated knowledge helps the advance and development of society. If we look at Philippines, it is in a state of instability. Drastic changes are needed...and I mean DRASTIC! Looking at First World Nations out there, they have their share of tragic revolutions and war that put them into their current ranks. So if we Filipinoes are willing to ascend from the rank of Third World Nation, then I suggest that band together and speak up. It's a sacrifice that's worthed...that one day once our revolution is over, our descendants will venerate us as heroes.

Sigaw lang mga kababayan.

The question is, how can we rise from being a third world nation when the people are pacified by the society? My entry is about the people, being cooped by the system. People just don't care anymore. The upper class keeps on getting rich. The middle class, as long as they eat three times a day, they don't care about those people below their social class. The lower class, because they cannot fulfill their basic need of food and shelter, are not involving themselves in political ideas anymore.

welll that's a very big problem then...... i guess we can rise from our current status by first changing our attitude in dealling with ourselves and with others..... i know it seems very ideal but i think its the very important step that we should make.....

Good points, i love this guild. dunno wat to say....maybe just some ideas.... i think the people are just waiting for someone to raise and say WE NEED TO START DOING SOMETHING INSTEAD OF JUST SITTING AND WATCHING OTHERS TO DIE IN THE SCARCITY IN THIS LAND OF PLENTY!!!! Filipinos are too intelligent that we are fooling each other, how sad. idea Lets start over again!!! from the day before foreigners came to the philippines, before there was Imported goods, before there was..... the day when we were free idea

Swakiki, hindi pa naman siguro huli ang lahat. Just like what the Frankfurt school said, there are still people that think outside of the box. Those people can be the wick which can trigger change.

redcopycat, I love what you said about us, filipinos being intelligent but fooling each other. whee
