He couldn't really tell if today was what some would call a lovely day. He had lost track of what was good and what was bad. He couldn't tell simply by seeing how cloudless the sky was or how brightly the sun was shining. He could only judge by what happened to him, or around him, during that day.
Ever since his parents' death, he had not quite been able to see the beauty of life. It could be taken a way, just in the blink of an eye. Life was that fragile. And the notion of it scared him half to death. He had also learned, courtesy of those parents of his, that being sly or cunning or trying to beat out others did not end well. It ended in death. A death that could come far too easily, and that was not an idea that he wanted to entertain.
The dark lion padded along, quite aware of the hot sun against his dark coat. So perhaps, he mused, the sun was not all that good an element to have on a day one could call beautiful.

Koi had alot on her mind now. Now that her sister had found a mate, she would not need her sisters protection anymore. She could actually trust her sister being away from her side. Sad thing was-she was sad. Her sister would be the one who proved that out of the three sisters-only Koi could not produce cubs. Koi begged and pleaded to those gods the pride belived in-for her sisters fertility... Anything to keep their lineage moving-and their pride growing.
She padded on, her bright paws touching the ground heavily. She was depressed... because if her sister was sterile as well... then it may even go onto their other sister. This could mean that they would lose some of their status among the other females-and that the cousins to the queen, would not help to carry on the bloodline. To not keep the pride thriving.
She sighed and stopped walking. Her tail, parted down the middle like a fin, swung side to side slowly. She was distraught.
This could mean many things for the pride

He had decided long ago that he could no longer jump up at the slightest thing that reminded him of his sister. Though for a moment, he wondered if the lioness in the distance was, indeed, her, he realized with a pang that she was orange and yellow, and a little brighter.
No worries there, he decided to himself, for if it was meant to be for him to find his sister again, it would happen.
His first instinct was to walk the other way. He himself had no particular place to be, and the thought of having to go through the formalities of meeting someone new made him feel like leaving. But somehow he didn't, and as he neared, he realized she had something of a sad expression on her face.
And much as he wanted to leave and not bother with it, he couldn't really do something like that when she seemed so down, and so reluctantly he followed his instinct to do good, and kept on walking.

Koi lowered her head and then her body too the ground. Things would soon look up, she knew it. But... she was worried about her sister... about her love for the male that would soon sire her cubs. If her sister, grew to love the male too much, things would not go well. Males and females were to not let their love conflict with the pride ways... It would be frowned upon and judged by the queens.
Koi shook her head and felt the worry fall over her like rain. She blinked her purple eyes and shook her head. There was nothing she herself could do... but sit and wait.
Her head lifted, only to spot something out of the courner of her eye. She turned her head that way, spotting the dark male. She lay where she was, unmoving.

He stopped in front of her, a polite distance away so he didn't intrude on anything. The brightness of her coat seemed familiar to him, somehow, but he didn't dwell on it and instead wondered if it would be appropriate to say something.
All his good sense told him not to, because there wasn't much he would get from talking to strangers who looked as down as she did. But he quelched the thoughts and, uncharacteristically, decided that perhaps it would be alright to say something and start the conversation.
"Um," His voice deeper than it usually was in his awkwardness, he fished for something to say that could convey properly what he thought. "Are... Are you alright?"

Koi was surprised that he was speaking to her... afterall they were strangers and she was used to the males not speaking to the females-back home of course. She decided to ignore his brashness and smiled-though it was a pained one. She sat up and shook her bright fur of all the leaves that had collected in her laying. She blinked her purple eyes and kneaded the ground sofltly with a front paw.
Just nervous I suppose... She said, a small smile crawling across her lips. It was odd to be talking to a stranger like she was-but she was alone and it wasn't like her sisters or queen were around. She could be unusual for once. Nervous and worried...
I'm afraid I am going to be an aunt and I am not ready to be.

There was something in the way she reacted and the way she replied that gave him the feeling that perhaps she wasn't used to strangers just talking to her out of the blue. Then they were a little like, maybe. He wasn't unused to it, but he didn't particularly live for interactions either.
He wondered if it was just the way she had grown up or if it was a character trait. Either way, it wasn't really his business, so he stopped thinking about it and instead returned to the current conversation. Since he had started it, he couldn't very well just turn and walk away, but he could try and see if he could keep his uncomfort low for a longer time.
"Oh," He took the moment to think. Worried about being an aunt? He could understand the worry of becoming a new parent, but being an aunt? He didn't really understand that worry, but then again, he and the lioness had obviously grown up in different surroundings. "When it happens, you will be." He said slowly. At least, that was how he saw it. If he were ever to become a father, he would never be able to live with the htought that he wasn't ready to be one. So he just pretended it would come, and perhaps it would. He hoped so.

Koi felt silly for how she felt but... she couldn't help it. In fact, the fact that she was going to be a aunt wasn't that frightening but.. something about it was. Perhaps she felt old?
I suppose your right. It'll be the first litter of cubs born into my pride for a long time... It will be a new begining. She said with a smile. She tucked her head into her chest and puffed her fur a little bit. She was happy and sad at the same time.
I suppose it's mostly because it's my younger sister who is giving birth... it makes me feel old

"Congratulations," He said sincerely with a small nod of his head. Birth and new life, indeed any sort of life, was always a thing to celebrate. This was no different, even though he didn't personally know the lucky ones soon to be parents. Birth was an occasion that should never be missed by either of the parents. He suspected it was perhaps among the happiest things that could ever happen to anyone.
At her next words, he half smiled wryly. "Old is earned," He said gently. You didn't get to grow old unless you were deserving of it. At least that was the way he saw it. It was only because of this that he had never wondered why his parents had died. He knew that they had died due to a revenge attack, but why they had been destined to die young was something he didn't question. They must not have deserved it, he thought.
That having been said, she didn't look old at all to him, and he couldn't imagine why she should feel that way. Having new life within a pride was cause to be happy, not a cause to feel old. And like he had said, old was earned. It wasn't a bad thing, especially in a pride where one didn't have to rely solely on themselves to get things done.

Koi smiled and could not help but not beleive him. She was older than her sisters... but her maturity level aged her a bit. She had learned to mature more than her sisters-since she replaced mother and father when they left... so now... she was in care of her sisters-and soon they would not need her anymore.
I suppose you are right. She said, shutting her purple eyes and sighing. Even if her sister became a mother before she-she would be happy for Gurami and forever greatful to the gods for blessing her sister in that way.
She chuckled slightly and gazed up at him. You sound very knoledgeable...

He had never really felt the need to smile when another smiled. Their cause for happiness was not necessarily his own. The joy of others never really inflicted any kind of happiness in himself, but seeing her smile and realizing that what he had said had cheered her up brought him a sense of pride, and his ears pricked slightly at that.
Djakovo shook his head lightly. "I just believe," He said with a hint of a smile. It was just what he had grown up believing, and what he would share if he thought the time was right. But other than that, he had no proof whatsoever of what he thought.
Then he thought to ask her who her sister was - she looked somewhat familiar - but then he held his tongue. Perhaps it was better to just let it go, perhaps he would puzzle it out later on his own. Or perhaps the conversation would go there on its own. It was just easier not to force anything.

Koi felt that her heart was relieved. She sighed and rotated her shoulders a bit, feeling the ground beneith her paws. He would be a good consolant for those who needed advice, he was very good at making a sour situation seem better-even if it wasn't that much. She lifted her head and gazed at him with her purple eyes blinking. Your certaintly have made my heart lighten... I appreciate it greatly.
Sadly though.. I must be heading on my way... I am not usually suppose to be out of my pridelands for too long... my sisters and my queen would worry to much.
but I thank you greatly... you should give advice and consolance more often to those who desire it. she said, standing up and turning away from him. She gazed over her shoulder and smiled warmly.
Perhaps we will meet again though... May the gods be with you And with this... she left.

He stood and listened wordlessly as she spoke. There was something within him that told him he had done the right thing. He was glad of it. The few times he had gone up to someone of his own accord had proved to him that perhaps it was not the worst thing to do it more oftten. But still, something kept him from wanting to interact with others so openly.
But her words made him feel something strange within him, that perhaps taking that once in a while risk was not the worst thing in the world. So perhaps, he mused, he should listen to her and to his own instincts more often. Perhaps he should give adcise and consolance to those who need it, or desire it.
Just perhaps.
He stood and watched as she left, feeling that at least his existence had brought some amount of joy to the world. And as she moved farther into the distance, he turned too and started walking. Perhaps they would meet again. And though he didn't believe in any gods, perhaps they would stay with him as she had wished for him. And just perhaps, something good would happen to him too.
