 Twix was sitting in the packlands her paw pinning down an errant squirrel while she licked her chops. It was a plump male and the little heart on it's face reminded her of Alas, which was probably why she would savor the snack. How she loathed the idea of that pink interloper getting her brothers attention. She leaned over the squirrel and grinned ready to snap it's little neck.Cupid squirmed and chittered at Twix, but it was no use. He had only ever met one wolf that had learned to understand him. Tragically it was not that kind she-wolf he had found when coming to this place. He closed his eyes and prepared to meet his doom!Alas quietly walked towards Crunch's packlands, she was ready to disobey Twist and be with her real friends again. True she had friends in Agua Azul but they were oppressed and depressed. She frowned at the thought of poor Kattana and wished she could find the herb that would help the females mind clear of her troubles. Yet she did not want to drug her friend into feeling better, she wanted to fix the problem. Sadly that was Alas' problem, that she wanted to fix everyone elses problems. She cheered at the thought of getting to see Crunch again her heart fluttering in her chest.

However, for some reason, Crunch found sleeping in his own pack lands a hard task to accomplish. Peace, guidance, protection providing, stuff the male was good at, but the most basic thing that kept all animals moving, was the one thing that this large male never seemed to obtain.
The sound of hysteric chattering, or clicking, Crunch wasn't positive, but the sound had awoke the male from his minuet nap. Red lightning lids peeled back and the male rose from his place of rest. He could hear Twix nearby, but the sound of the constant noise droned on around him.
"Twix?" the eldest brother exclaimed walking towards the noise and spotting a little brown squirrel. Blinking, Crunch looked at the squirrel. Something seemed familiar about that little guy, maybe he had heard it described. Description, could the little thing be...what was it's name.
Shaking all the grogginess from his large frame, Crunch barked out. "Twix, hold back the maiming for a second," he knew this order would make his sister frustrated, but he had to make sure first.
In that instant something struck him, "Cupid?" the word just came out.

Twix stopped and frowned looking over at Crunch surprised, she didn't know why he had stopped her from her meal. Perhaps her brother wanted a snack? Either was she was less than pleased not by the delay of her morsel but by the fact her brother wasn't sleeping soundly.
"Your awake quickly..." She tilted her head curious as to the look on her brothers face. "Cupid? Are you alright Crunch?" He was spouting nonsense.
Cupid opened one eye slowly and shuddered in horror as an even larger male approached the surly female. He tried to wriggle and get away until he heard Cupid yes that was him! He chittered excitedly trying to explain how he didn't want to die he was looking for the nice wolf not this one!
He recalled however that while Alas had slowly come to understand him other wolves couldn't figure his words out for the life of them. He tries to nod his little head enthusiastic as could be gazing at Crunch pleadingly.
Alas slipped into the packlands giving Musketeer a small greeting as he came over. She moved on towards the den hoping she would spot Crunch before that lest she run into anyone else. Her real desire was to see the large blue alpha for she missed him terribly.

With a half smile Crunch looked at his sister, "When do I ever sleep?" he spoke with a small dry laugh. It was true, the male was restless, always moving and just catching minute naps here and there. He needed more border patrols, that he could trust, before he would sleep perfectly sound.
However, his sister's question got a sharp look, "Of course I'm alright. Tired and...curious, all of a sudden, since when did you start eating squirrels?" He looked at the franticly chittering animal. Seeing its head bobbing up and down with a speed greater then anything that Crunch had ever seen.
For a second, the alpha thought that Cupid was going to give himself a concussion with the wild nodding. Looking back towards Twix he gave a slight frown, he was going to have to tell her she couldn't eat the squirrel, but he would personally get her something else for snack on.
"Twix, you can't eat that squirrel. I know where he is going, or at least who he is looking for," the brother spoke, in his normal voice, but that normal voice was just a facade because there was no way that Crunch really knew Cupid was seeking Alas. He just didn't want to have the only creature to have ever accompanied his love to be devoured.

Twix frowned slightly "Exacty...you don't sleep enough. It's most troubling..." She gazed down at the squirrel in question and looked back at Crunch. "I always have them for light snacks, I was going to patrol tonight so Musketeer could hunt...so I would be having a late dinner if any."
She followed his gaze down to the squirrel before looking back up at him now thoroughly confused. His words sent her into an even greater state of confusion and worry. Crunch had lost it! He was have dillusions about a squirrel!
"The squirrel is looking for someone?" She kept her paw on the critter and gave her brother a most dubious look. Her tone implied her concern over his words.
Cupid looked at Crunch pleadingly chattering at him in a language he probably couldn't quite comprehend.
Alas circled the area a bit hoping to spot Crunch on patrol before she headed further into the territory towards the den. Perhaps if she couldn't find Crunch she could at least find Gracia and see if she knew his whereabouts. It would also give her a chance to catch up with her dear friend.

((Oh boy, Twix thinks Crunch is a basket Case and now Gracia and Alas can chat making him swim in the confusing looks that he gets from Twix, instead of getting saved by Alas right away.))
KNowing his sister meant all well, he gave her a soft quirk in the corner of his maw. "I know Twix, but atleast I can still help with defending our lands," he stated hoping that it would help his case. However the male realized that a fight in a tired state would worry his sister further then she already was.
Closing his eyes, Crunch shook his head very slightly from side to side. This wasn't going well for him or Cupid. Twix, thought he was going insane, or so the looks he got told him so.
Hearing her question the blue auds reopened, "Yes, that little guy..." He looked at Cupid and back to his sister, she wasn't going to like this, "is Alas' familiar."
Having been working on cleaning out a spot for Musketeer's pups. Gracia was also working on finding the soft of moss that still grew in the early morning, though it was already mid-day she would say, she was gathering various other things for the den. More bedding for all to be exact.
Ears quirking Gracia heard familiar footsteps and wagged her tail. Alas had returned, bounding from her duty, Gracia raced over to her friend. My how seeing her friend brightened up her day already.
"Alas!" she howled gleefully.

Alas giggled and bounded towards her friend happily nuzzling her. Her tail waved like a wild banner on a windy day and she licked her friends muzzle in greeting. Slowly she calmed and sat down licking her lips.
"I must be honest dear friend, I came looking for Crunch...I wanted to spend some...umm quality time with him."
Twix blinked and slowly moved her paw off the squirrel staring at her brother, the only reason she didn't glare was probably because he was her brother.
"Oh...well then...I wouldn't dream of eating him..." her tone was cold. "I'll just go find...something else.
Cupid quickly sat up and scampered over to Crunch hiding behind him and chattering madly.

Gracia, figuring as much, just smiled and pawed at her friend, "I thought so, but it's good to see you." Turning her head to look about, Gracia pointed with her snout, "The last time I saw him, he was trying to sleep a bit over in a thicket off behind the den."
With a pinch closed maw, Crunch could see the utter dislike in his sister's form. Besides that, the smell of frustration and sarcasm bellowed from her. "Twix, I'm taking your snack from you, let me at least catch you something else." This he didn't ask, it was more of him saying, 'Look don't be like this, there is other things to kill and, since, I just ruined your little meal let me fix it, as your brother, not alpha.'
Besides that, he could hear the fact that she just wanted to devour the little squirrel even more. Crunch didn't move forward to nudge his sister, because one he could already hear her bitterness, and it was spreading. So instead he just stood still and allowed Cupid to hide in his shadow.

Alas nodded softly and pressed against her friend once more in thanks. "I shall visit with you once I have had my time with Crunch, I haven't seen him since his meeting with my alpha..." She sounded slightly worried about this, perhaps Crunch didn't want to see her after that, perhaps he had fallen for Twists words.
Cupid remained fastened to Crunch's hind leg a moment before scampering up and perching on the large blue males shoulder.
Twix nodded softly finally managing to relax a bit. "Thank You..." She muttered softly, but still she was agitated by her brothers ongoing interest in that pink healer.

Gracia nodded, she knew how her friend and brother felt for one another, and smiled at the thought of Crunch actually being happy. Plus, the idea of Alas actually having a family, that just made the smile solidify. "Go see my brother, he has been a justifiable wreck with out you around." She said and wagged her tail, nuzzling the pink healer in a 'Go,' gesture.
Crunch felt the little feet of Cupid scurry up onto his shoulder, he didn't look at the squirrel, but continued to eye his sister. Moving a bit forward, Crunch tried to tilt Twix's maw up with the end of his muzzle. Looking into his sister's eyes the alpha had to make sure the Twix remembered, "Twix, just cause I care deeply for Alas it doesn't mean that I'm going to forget my family. It just means that there might be added members to it."
Crunch paused and gave a sideways glance to Cupid, before looking back directly at Twix and lifting his head some, "Sister, I value your opinions greatly, you have watched my back for seasons on end, and you show so much great love for our family. These were the reasons that gave you the strongest beta standing. You're a very strong and proud femme, a force to be reckoned with, kind-of like a forest fire. So I understand the protectiveness that overwhelms you with the feelings that Alas and I share. I know, for fact, that I would be sceptically of any male that was trying to court you." At the last part of his spoken words Crunch gave a soft joking smile, maybe Alas had broken him from the tyrant that he once was, but that wolf still slumbered inside of Crunch and he knew it.

Alas shared a soft smile with her friend and returned the gentle nuzzle in a promise that she would be back. She turned and headed towards the den all to eager to be reunited with the one she held so high in her heart.
Cupid remained quietly crouched on Crunch's shoulder deciding it was better not to make any more noise or movements that might upset the caramel wolf who had almost taken his life.
Twix relaxed a bit at her brothers movement and words she felt proud that he acknowledged her efforts for their family. She took a deep breath and nodded softly at her alpha and brother his words rang so true. She gave a soft snort at his last sentence though, for what male would ever win the heart that she had long ago given to her family instead?
"I cannot say that I like your new...choice...this pink mate you have...but if she makes you happy..." Twix trailed off before looking back at her brother. "I will try to get along with her Crunch, there just hasn't been much change in so long and now were faced with so much of it. All I care about is our family's well being. As for a male..." She shook her head and let a small smile curve her maw. "You needn't worry about any such folly on my behalf."
Alas approached and slowed as she heard only the tail end of Twix's words. She made deliberate noises her tail swaying wildly as she caught Crunch's scent pervading the area. He was there...Twix as well, but she hoped the caramel female would understand her desire to be alone with the alpha male.

Gracia moved back to gathering the fresh bedding, it would be good for Musketeer and his pups, once they came, and everyone else to sleep on. It would keep sores from forming and everyone healthy.
Seeing the shift in Twix's frame the alpha could feel the pride, that he rightfully had given the caramel sibling in the first place, resurface. Listening to all the words that Twix spoke, Crunch boldly nodded his head, "I appreciate the honesty, and I appreciate anything that you will willing do to be hospital to her." Crunch thought back to the look in Twist's face at the fact of Twix's dislike in Alas. "I don't want us falling apart as I expect might be tried from that Twist. I don't trust that wolf almost as much a lynx."
Her statement about the male, just made his smile, "I'm your older brother, I can worry about anything that I want," Crunch teased and with a tick of his ear Crunch looked back over the unoccupied shoulder, back towards the brush.

Alas smiled at Crunch from where she stood, she only had eyes and ears for him at the moment. She slipped forward before stopping to glance at Twix a moment and offering her a greeting.
"Hello Twix, I hope your well today?" She had not yet noticed the small furry creature perched on Crunch's shoulder.
Twix nodded softly at her brother. "Yes...that alpha is...up to something..." She murmured softly under her breath before laughing at his last words. "Worry all you want, but it will all be over unfounded and foolish thoughts...honestly brother what male could take my heart from my family?" She froze a moment as Alas slid through the brush and gave her a slight nod of the head.
"I'm fine...I was just on my way off..." She looked back to Crunch. "You owe me a snack." She smiled softly and slipped away, she didn't want to know about, see or hear the couples happy reunion.
"Oh alright, goodbye Twix..." She looked back at Crunch happily about to greet him with enthusiastic nuzzling and licks of affection but...
Cupid flew at Alas chittering madly and clinging to her muzzle. He scampered from Alas to Crunch as if their bodies were a forest playground to him. Finally the squirrel settled on Alas muzzle and nuzzled her chittering softer. They seemed to share a quiet moment and with only the slightest nudge from Alas the squirrel scampered up a tree to wait for her, Cupid knew when there was a special moment between friends, but this was to be a special moment between lovers.
Alas smiled and slunk forward burying her muzzle against Crunch and nuzzling him.
"Thank You...for finding Cupid and keeping him safe...you've done so much for me Crunch." She smiled up at him and licked his muzzle. "I've missed you terribly, so much has happened and all I really wanted was to be alone with you."

Crunch it was true, Twist was up to something, but he just didn't know what. He did however see the same darkness on her that he saw in the lands where he and his family had came from. Turning his head back towards his sister he nodded, "Sound advice my sister, and I don't know." He truly didn't know what male might get close enough to his sister to court her. To either of them really, the one thing that Crunch did pray for, that Snickers found a very bright femme. The last thing they needed was more water watchers.
At the sound of Alas stepping into the opening, Crunch heard Twix's words and gave her a soft smile. With a nod of his head the alpha already had an idea of what he would leave for Twix. As his sister left the large male's head turned towards the love of his life and he returned the affectionate and enthusiastic nuzzling and licks.
In hailing Alas' scent, Crunch almost forgot about Cupid, until he started to scamper back and forth and chitter at Alas. Holding back to allow the two old friends a moment to listen to one another, Crunch just couldn't help but keep his eyes on Alas.
Then, when Cupid hopped up the tree, the blue logoed male heard the words that came from his love's maw. "You're welcome, and for Cupid, he was lucky that his chattering isn't soft. Otherwise I might have been too late." He recalled the wake up to the loud noise, but looking at the squirrel and then back to his pink healer, Crunch was glad to have done something good.
Stepping forward again, Crunch licked the white lace on Alas' cheek and pushed his nose into her neck fur. "You have no idea how many times I wanted to go and bring you back here," he confessed.

Alas smiled and pressed close against the large blue alpha letting her worries slowly fade away, she need this quiet time with him to relax and remember that things would be better. She laughed softly at his 'confession' and nodded "I wanted to slip in to see you so badly, but every time seemed wrong, I knew Musketeer needed time to speak to you, and that you needed time after your meeting with Twist...I was worried..."
She looked down a moment before relaxing against him and smiling softly. "Yet, it seems that there was no need to worry now that were together again. I know the problems are out there but..." She shrugged softly and licked his muzzle tenderly. "I only care about having a moment now and here with you."
She glanced at the empty den and looked at Crunch uncertainly. Though they had spent time apart it seemed they had both equally longed for time together and now something in Alas pushed her to be bold and brave and not to waste this precious time she had with her beloved.
