The Kawani village had been quiet for hours now. A pregnant moon hung heavily in the black velvet sky, dotted with pricks of white light which formed various constellations. Thick wisps of smoke rose in ashen tendrils towards the heavens as if reaching to pluck the stars from above and pull them down to earth. Charred logs sat in abandoned pits where ritual fires had long since burned out after Gvnega's people had all bedded down for the night. Tamed wolves lingered outside the tents of their masters, gnawing meat bones and wrestling with each other.

'Nega enjoyed spending time with the two-legger's canines where he could, as they often filled him in the events he missed while away from his home. Tonight as he approached, they greeted him with toothy smiles and wagging tails, lifting their heads to yip gentle greetings to the familiar stallion. In their verging-on-domesticated state the strange carnivores were losing their ability to communicate with the Soquili as most true wildlife could. Much the way Gvnega could barely make out the whinnies of the Kawani horses. They were not Soquili, not born from the magic and spirit of freedom and it made them hard to understand when they spoke as though, the closer their bond to the humans the less in tune they became with their earth sprung heritage.

Osiyo, friends. All is quiet tonight. Its reassuring to find my tsidanalu well. Perhaps the pack would join me for an evening run? Surely you're still inagehi enough to appreciate your mother, the full moon? Hooded stallion grinned in challenge, pawing the ground eagerly as awaited their answer, though he already knew the group's decision, he could read it with ease by their rapt attention.

Always for Tsuna, the head of the small pack of five growled through his grinning jowls. They might have been intimidating to other Soquili, to have so many predators winding and brushing around vulnerable legs, but Gvnega didn't fear them. He was as much a part of their pack as he was a member of his sister's tribe and a brother to all his kind. Walking to the edge of the village painted coat flinched with enthusiasm as large head was thrown up to bray laughingly, sauntering forward only to break into a lazy lope as he was joined by several howls and the low thunder of paws, like drumbeats against the ground.

The little paint nickered at the little kawani children who painted below her knees for they couldn't reach the rest of her body. It was war paint gone bad. Her multicolored orbs watched them with such an excitement as she smiled along them nudging them to hear their soft sound of laughter. She leaned her head down where a little girl painted an almost perfect circle around her eye. She huffed as her ears flickered back, the wind had picked up. It was telling her something, she could feel it.

She started walking away with the children pulling at her tail. She looked back as their parents called them off as she walked out. It was past their bedtimes anyways. She wasn't quite sure what was going on...but something. She looked up to see a painted stallion with the sharp cry of wolves. Her ears flared baffled and confused but stood in place for the next action that awaited.

Following the edges of the village from one end to the other, the party kicked up a dusty trail far enough from the teepees of the resting tribes people that they went undisturbed. Still sitting far back in the distance the sun sunk into the horizon. It appeared burdened and exhausted even as the golden rust from its light stretched as far as it could reach, warming Gvnega's face and chest as he faced the west where the great orb had fallen. Despite the solar entity's reluctance to be extinguished the moon sat bright and basking in its own glow, serene as ever in its matronly fullness.

Beige gaze had unconsciously lifted to bathe in the mingle of the moon's cool caress and the sun's warm glow as the pair enclosed him from either side. Coarse fur from brushing canids drew the stallion's attention back from the heavens, his gaze lowering to watching the tamed wolves--as he knew them--dance and whirl with excitement. They had long since paused in their run to show respect to the setting sun, but something else had caused 'Nega to pause as well. A scent. The gentle scent of a mare.

Sweeping the area for signs of life so late in the evening, the black-stockinged stallion found it difficult to believe he could have overlooked a delicate flower on such sparse terrain. With ears piqued curiously, Gvnega did indeed find an unfamiliar filly in his field of vision. A pretty white mare splashed in black and brushed with brown, her pelt was dusted by the fiery shadow of the sun at her back giving her a golden glow.

She was staring at him--and his merry band it seemed--with the most unwelcomingly perplexed expression 'Nega had ever had directed at him. It was almost as if his existence was disarming to her. But it was definitely she that was the peculiar one! Tainted with smears of paint made by small fingers the colors clashed with the natural beauty of her fur making her an obvious victim of the Kawani children and their notorious mischief. Osiyo!

Unable to resist a small chuckle the young stallion began to approach with a jaunty step, after calling out in greeting. He realized almost too quickly that the small pack of dogs might have made her uneasy, pausing quickly to address their eager faces. Lowering his head he spoke lowly to them with a small smile. Stay here. We don't want to scare her off...

Several pairs of ears dropped as the stallion was met with sullen opposition. They were a pathetic lot. Don't look at me that way. She's sure to come around!

With a reassuring grin Gvnega Tsuna kicked up his heels, his movements proud and deliberate as he approached the young mare with a nonchalant cant of his head. Don't be alarmed miss, but I fear the human foals have done a number on your lovely coat. He chuckled smoothly, beige gaze taking in the mare's leggy form with pleasure. 'Nega had never met a mare he didn't like.
