Haya had awoken that morning to an excellent surprise. Snow! He had eagerly bounded into it, galloping through and away from the shelter that he had left Ayanna in. She had been sleeping when he woke up and he didn't want to disturb her. He wasn't sure if she was really a snow-soquili anyways. She seemed like she might be the type to stay warm and out of it's way rather than frolic around in it like him.
He bounded into the copse of trees that he often found his friend and also father-to-be Vis in. The unicorn didn't seem to be about today but Haya had hope for him showing up later. Until then, he was quite capable of entertaining himself! He flopped over into a large snow drift and rolled, legs flailing without grace in the open air. He whinnyed laughter when he righted himself, snow clinging in clumps to his long mane. Winter was great!

"oh my," He would hear a soft feminine laughter. Standing near the back of the clearing was a pretty blue mare, her gold eyes soft and amused. "Oh I am sorry, I didn't mean to laugh at you, but.." She ducked her head to hide her amusement.
She danitly moved across the snow to his side smiling, " Hello, I am very glad to see someone else enjoying this wonderful snow.." Her smile was a bit shy but warm and open. "I am Mapiya."

Somehow it seemed that whenever he was doing something undignified like rolling in leaves or snow a mare would sneak up behind him. He thought about rolling quickly to his feet to pretend like he hadn't been doing anything but it was far too late for that. Besides, he didn't know if he could do such a maneuver without slipping and breaking a leg.
He still stood up but did it without flourish, except for shaking some of the snow out of his fur. He got a good look at the mare then. She was very blue but had striking designs and patterns over her coat. The complexity reminded him a little of his mother but it was there that the similarity ended. She seemed friendly enough at a glance, though... not like most of the stuck up or self-obsessed mares he had met so far.
"I'm Haya. Well.. Hayagriva. But everyone calls me Haya." With the wedge of his tail he brushed more snow off his back. "And yeah... I love snow." He smiled and looked around himself. Snow days had always been fun days for him.

Mapiya giggled softly "I like the snow too. The two legger I live with likes to play in the snow too. But the little usdia is rather gumpy when it gets cold." She giggled shaking the snow off her own mane smiling at him sweetly.
"It is an honor and a pleasure Hayagriva." Her smile was sweet and innocent as she lowered her head to nose at the snow snorting and tossing her head happily when it tickled her nose.

Her elegant greeting left Haya wondering if he had misjudged her. Was she another pretty mare that didn't care for anything beyond keeping her mane brushed? He watched her with an edge of suspicion. He was getting tired of all the fancy ones.
There was one easy way to tell what sort of mare she was. 'You like the snow, eh?" Behind him his spaded tail scooped up snow, balanced, then flung at the blue mare. Haya grinned and bounded backwards after the deed was done, unrepentant and grinning fiendishly.

Mapiya squealed startled getting a face full of snow, she blinked a few times then neighed with laughed "oh I am gonna get you for that!!"
She reared up to kick snow at him laughing happily, her ears perked forward, her tail flagging as she bucked like a young filly laughing. The snow flew everywhere as she bucked and twisted kicking up the fine powder. She hadn't had as much fun since she was a foal!

Haya considered his experiment a grand success. She wasn't complaining about snow in her fur! She was playing back! He laughed and shut his eyes tight against the flying snow. The best he could do now was flail his tail wildly through the snow and hope some of it he flung would hit his target. This was the sort of fun that snowy days were made for! The cold air that heaved in and out of his lungs stung but he barely even noticed.
"Don't you know?" He called over the sound of stomping. "My tail makes me immune to your attacks! It's magical!" He waved his tail over his head once before going back to flinging snow with it.

Mapiya squeals giggling happily as she flails, kicking snow everywhere. Finally she flopped down, her side heaving as she snorted and panted sprawled in the snow.
She lifted her head weakly then flopped back down " you killed me..I am dead." She giggled weakly enjoying the cold snow on her hot skin. She hadn't acted like that since she had been a filly.

Haya vigorously shook some of the snow off himself so it wouldn't melt and soak him through. That had been a lot of fun. He felt a twinge of guilt to be out having fun with another mare while Ayanna was off on her own but he hadn't expected to meet Mapiya. It had just... happened. But it was all just fun and games so he didn't see why he shouldn't continue.
"Of course I killed you! I'm a big bad kalona, you know." He waved his tail in the air again and gave his best evil smirk. She seemed like the type to not run away because of his heritage so it seemed like a good opportunity to paly it up.

Mapiya lifted her head to stick her tongue out at him before flopping back in the snow relaxing. " I am not scared of you. That little usdia stallion that I live with is meaner than you are." She giggled heaving herself back to her feet, shaking the snow from her body.
Mapiya giggled again " I bet I can take you Haya." She tossed her head playfully giggling again.

Haya snorted laughter. It had to be a joke. The idea of that little blue thing taking him down was ridiculous! His kalona heritage had left him with a respectable height and he'd never met a mare who could fight well even in playing.
"Yeah, right!" he retorted while dancing playfully back and forth. "I'm no usdia! I have my tail to help me out and all you have is... is... is being blue!" It didn't make sense but Haya didn't let that stop him.

Mapiya snorted narrowing her eyes as she studied him for a long moment before heaving a sigh " Yeah I probally couldn't....but I am patient, I bet I could get you in the end." She grinned once more to show she was teasing.
"And what does being blue have to do with anything?" She looked at him confused. " You are gold but that doesn't mean anything either."

"Sure it does," replied Haya with a grin. This mare was wonderfully easy to talk to. "It means my mom was gold." He paused to consider this piece of information. "I guess it doesn't mean anything important, though. Even soquili with weird colors can be pretty fun."
He shook his head abruptly and changed subjects. "D'you live around here or just passing through?" It'd be fun to get another nice neighbor to spend time with. He liked hanging out with Vis but he was getting more and more busy with his expecting mate.

Mapiya nickered softly smiling "Aye I live just around the glade with my two legger and the herd." She stretched before shaking her mane out.
"and you? Do you live around here?"

Haya nodded back, absentmindedly chewing on an end of his long mane. "I don't really have a two legger or a herd right now but I live nearby with..." His mind scrambled for what term he could use to describe Ayanna. Not mate, not even really girlfriend. "With a mare," he finished awkwardly.
"It's a nice place to live, though." He smiled and waved his tail behind him. "There's a really nice unicorn who lives around here with his mate, too."
