"So, Moira, what've you got here that's new? I went to your show last friday by the way, the band was pretty sick."
The notorious teen was lounging against the metal bars beneath the store's trademark stop sign as she made idle chatter with the punky shop clerk, while Vyn had her gaze fixated on some racks of clothing in the far back.

"We haven't had any new shipments since Christmas," the shop clerk, Moira, replied with a jerk of her thumb towards the opposite corner of the room, where fur-trimmed bras and bright sugarplum fairy outfits dominated the area.

Shuura rolled her eyes. "You know that's not the kind of junk I'd buy. It's been forever since I've been here, I know you've got something, now give it up."

Various metal chains and ornaments clinked and jangled as Moira laughed. "Alright, alright. But only because Vyn helped draw in a good crowd last week." The shop clerk disappeared momentarily into the back room and could be heard rummaging around. Her voice, a bit muffled, called out from inside--"Keep an eye out for me if any customers come in, yeah?"

"Yeah, yeah." Shuura studied her nails with great interest. "Vyn, go watch the door and try to draw in customers or something," she told the wandering Frei in a bored voice.

"Cold." Was the only word Vyn said in response, her slender brows knotting together in a frown as she refused to budge from her spot.

Shuura scowled. Lately Vyn had been less obedient than usual, and it was getting on her nerves. "Just do it, will you? Moira's not going to take long. I didn't have to drag you here with me today, you know. YOU wanted to come along, now deal with it."

With something nearly akin to a sigh, the Rosy Frei gave a quick flap of her wings and floated closer to the doorway of the shop. Vyn didn't know that Durem was colder than Gambino, she just wanted to see where her constantly-absent guardian disappeared to when not working at the cafe. Stopping beside the door, her rosy lips unconsciously formed into a slight pout as the shadow Raevan rested a perfectly manicured hand on the frosted window and began quietly observing the passersby outside.

Taking a moment to pause and zip up his jacket, Isikoro stood for moment on his own legs without crutches. It was a brisk January day and he had regretted not bringing a thicker jacket. It was getting close to Eirdirsceol's birthday and he decided to take this opportunity to take him out for a small celebration. He had yet to explain the concept of a birthday (unfortunately, his first explanation with his own birthday didn't stick) to the eager frei.

After making himself the warmest possible, Isi slipped his arms into his crutches and started after Eiry who was drifting ahead of him with the likeliness of a mint-colored balloon.

"Eiry," Isi called after him, "Don't go too far ahead alright?"

"Sure," replied the frei.

It was at that moment that Eiry spotted another half of a body in a store, not far from where he was floating. He tilted his head in curiosity and floated towards it.

From her diligent observation post, Vyn could see all sorts of people passing by; some glanced at her curiously, but couldn't really see her lack of a lower half due to the frost-covered windows unless they looked very clearly. Others who looked still stranger would pass by with nary a glance -- Durem really was home to all sorts of strange creatures, particularly after the recent vampire epidemic.

By and by Vyn noticed a minty green figure approaching the store front; a closer examination revealed that figure floated, just like her, and startling ebony-amber eyes widened slightly in recognition, it was another Raevan. Not one that she was familiar with, however, so the reclusive Shadow Raevan merely pursed her lips and waited patiently to see what the other would do.

Moira burst out of the storage room at that moment, grinning and holding up what looked like a scandalously short and punked-up version of the charcoal winter skirt. "To take Sasha's words, now THIS is HOT."

Floating closer to his kindred flesh, Eiry sub consciously made himself go intangible so he could walk through the crowds of people who would pass in front of the store's door. He liked the feeling of stepping through them all and it made him chuckle to see their reactions as he passed through fabric and flesh. Giving a cheshire smile to the other, he finally came a few feet before her and held out his hand in greeting (like Isi told him to do).

"Hallo, we are same-hearted! My name is Eirdirsceol," Eiry announced. Well, it appeared that today was no day for hesitations. Eiry was in a good mood. Isi had told him something about getting a birthday present and the mere mention of a present was enough to make him squeal with glee. He liked getting gifts, particularly shiny things and things to help him with his practical jokes. "Who are you?"

Isi watched from behind as his mischievous ward passed through a crowd of people. It appeared that he finally found a store that he was interested in. So, following him as best he could, Isi gave a clearing of his throat. As he came closer, he could see that the other Eiry had focused his attention on was actually another raevan! Funny, he hadn't seen this one before. He kept himself in the back, watching the two interact.

Ebony-drowned amber eyes widened slightly in curiosity as the minty Frei seemed to just pass through the bustling crowd in the way. Vyn wondered briefly what it must feel like, then decided she wouldn't want to experience it as the people that the stranger Raevan went through all made unpleasant faces.

The polite Frei dutifully curtsied to the strange Raevan, black tattered spirals bobbing up and down with the motion. "Hullo....." she echoed softly to the wispy green one. "I am Vyn." His strange mannerisms and the long string of sounds that were his name made her hesitate, and she did not try to repeat his name as she did others. Eyeing his extended hand, she folded her own neatly in front of her where her "lap" would be if she had one. Having never experienced a handshake before, Vyn failed to recognize the gesture for what it was, and merely assumed it was part of the others' strange behavior. "I am shopping." she informed him matter-of-factly, the tatttered ends of her ribbon now doing a graceful twirl in the crisp cold air. Shopping was pleasant, Vyn had discovered. It was trying on and bringing back new things that looked nice.

Eiry peered closer at this dark-tinted frei. She was unlike any other frei that he had seen before, but then again, no two frei were alike. He had met one other female frei so far and he had fallen head over ribbon for her, sweet shy Lucretia. He thought that she'd be like her, shy and timid, and so far, his guesstimates were proving correct. They couldn't all be shy, his intelligence told him, so he let his hand drop back down to his side and he met her curtsy with the bow of what torso he had with which to bow. It wasn't so much as a bow, but rather a kind of awkward tilt just deep enough to show the back of his head before he had to lean back up again without losing balance.

"Hello, Vyn," Eiry replied happily, a cheshire grin plastered from cheek to cheek, "You call me Eiry for short. It's easier. Not many can tongue-pronounce my name. 'Cept Isi. He named me, you know!" When he heard that the other was shopping, Eiry's deathly pale face lightened up even more, "I am shopping too! What do you shop for? I shop for present-birthday!" Eiry bobbed a bit up and down despite himself. He was eager for something new, curious as he was.

Isi, standing by, angrily waved off a little old lady who tried to hand him a ten dollar bill. That was his one loathing of the city, that it was a hot-spot for charity offers that he had no intention to receive.

"Come, child, take it," the old lady crooned in a honey-saturated voice as she pressed a crumbled ten piece towards him.

"Shove off, lady, I don't need charity," Isi hissed in a distracted growl, he continued in a sarcastic, but almost automatic drawl, "I have all my wants and needs, and I assure you have I have enough for my next surgery. Your thought is kind and that's all I could ask for, now leave me alone!" The old lady with the sag of her already sagging face made a frown and shuffled off, surprised and deeply bewildered by the young crippled child she had met. She'd have to tell this to her sewing group, for sure.
