Foxtrot lay in the far corner of the Warriors den. He hadnt slept that night, but had a face that looked as if carved by the heartbroken and of cold stone. His eyes were unblinking, unmoving. The other warriors had avoided him mostly. Some had not come to think of hims as half breed scum that night, but most had. Worst of all, what did she think of him now?

Spottedheart was lying near the other warriors in the den, but she couldn't sleep. Too many thoughts raced through her head. She sighed and looked aver her shoulder, at the corner of the den. Foxtrot lay there, awake but unmoving. Ever since the gathering he's been like this. The warriors avoided him, but she knew that's not what he needed. Slowly she got up and padded towards him. She gently pawed his head to get his attention. "You know, lying here isn't going to change anything," she whispered.

Foxtrot's eyes did not move, nor did the rst of his body exept for his mouth. "Yes, but not much I can do. I cant really fufill the purposes of a deputy when other warriors wont come near enough to organize any patrols. That can be left to clovenpelt. later, I will need to ask Moonstar about it, but for now, I could at least make myself useful for the Clan." He slowly rose to his feet, stil refusing to look at Spottedheart. He blinked slowly then began to pad slowly toward's the den entrance. mixed feeling were what had done this too him. He remembered the face he had seen on Lilyheart. He feared to look at Spottedheart, for either giving away the feeling he felt fo her, or seeing hatred in her eyes. He felt icey fury at Larksparrow for eavesdropping and telling the clans his secret after he saved her life. He felt shunned and hated by his clanmates. But there was cold determination flaring inside him to prove he is loyal.

Spottedheart felt a little irritated at Foxtrot for not even looking at her and even more annoyed at Larksparrow for changing the way things used to be. She followed Foxtrot, determined to make him feel better. "You can still fulfill the purposes of a deputy. Other warriors may not listen to you, but they will listen to Moonstar." Worry clouded her eyes as she thought what if he's like this the rest of his life. She quickly shook that thought away. "It doesn't matter that you're half-clan. You're just as loyal now as you were before the gathering," she said, half to herself.

Foxtrot looked down, then swiftly sat and wrapped his tail around his legs. "Maybe...but I'm even questioning my own loyalty now. If it really came down to it, could I attack, maybe kill my kin?" He meowed, wrentching his gaze from his paws to stare at Spottedheart, pain and indecision clouding their depths. "How would I live, knowing I had spilt my sister's blood?"

"You'll have to come to live with it. Brambleclaw in ThunderClan has lived with his sister being in another clan, and you're stronger than him, right? Does it matter that she's your kin? If it were another cat, you'd have no problem spilling their blood, right? Unless you've become as soft as a kittypet..."

Foxtrot's eyes filled with more pain. She though he was weak, just because he didnt want to kill his kin. "I'm stonger than any Thunderclan whelp, but Brambleclaw as far as my knowlege goes never had to attack his sister. At least I'll never have to face that situation unless all of StarClan was against me. If it was any other cat, I would fight my best. But think about this, For me, this is sudden and devastating. I've just found out i'm scum. I'm shunned by my Clan. And I feel shunned from the one I had felt love for." He sprang forward, bounding out of camp, racing along a fmiliar track, memories flashing by him as he ran to the ThunderPath edge, where there was an onld tree which he scrambled under. He needed to think.

Her heart skipped a beat. Did he just say love? Spottedheart looked down. Maybe she hadn't chosen the best words... Anyway, she didn't think he was scum, but he had ran off before she could say anything. Quickly, she darted after him, following his scent. She followed it to the ThunderPath, but lost it as it was covered by the wretched smell of monsters. "Foxtrot?" she called out, hoping that he would hear her. "If you can hear me, I'm sorry. You're not scum; you're a ShadowClan warrior- no, a ShadowClan deputy. I just want you to stop moping; start acting like the Foxtrot I know... and love."

At her last words, an audible thump could be heard from the oak, and a mrow of surpuse and pain. One, surprise from what she said. Two, pain from hitting his head in surprise. Had he heard her right? had she said what he thought she sai? Or was she beeing truthful? His mind raced as he rubbed a paw ruefully on his head, knowing she would have heard the thump.

Spottedheart heard some noise and turned her head towards an oak. Moving closer, she could see that something was inside of it. "There you are," she said to Foxtrot. Even with everything going on, she couldn't help letting out a little laughter at the noise he had made.

Foxtrot's eyes could be seen glinting in the darkness, his fur more visible when he came closer to its entrance. "i...I'm sorry Spottedheart...I'm just...confused. My sister had hated me until she knew and by the way she looked at the Gathering, she was devastated. I feel torn, for a want to keep my remaining kin safe, but the Warrior code keeps me here where I can loyally carry out duties. And then, there what I said, the cat I love..."

"That does sound confusing..." Spottedheart admitted. "But you even said before that you'll never have to face that situation unless all of StarClan was against you. So unless you want all of StarClan against you, keep following the warrior code." She looked away, not knowing what else to say. "Whatever you do, know that I'll always be there for you."

"Your right there and I did say that. I just...I feel hated by the others, but I'll live with it until the get over it..."He meowed, quietly before looking up at Spottedheart. Why would she be there for him...because he was her Clanmate and deputy!...Or was there something more...Either way, she needed to know specifically she was the cat he loved... "Spottedheart, the cat I love...its..."

"They're just mousebrains that don't see how great you are." Spottedheart looked at Foxtrot. "The cat you love is...?" She held her breath, worried that he loved someone other than her. Then she decided to take a chance. "Is it me...?" she whispered.

Foxtrot blinked a few times then nodded. He shouldnt be to surprised she knew, he could be very blunt at times. "...Yes...its you..." He felyt relief flood him. She did not seem angry or disgusted he had fallen in love with her, but the question he had was did she love him back> She had said it, so he believed it must be so...he thought.
