Despite my male avatar, I am a bisexual female that is happily married to a very straight man.
I am also a music teacher, so I don't let my students know that.
When I was going to highschool, our band was notorious for having a rather significant population of gay members, both male and female. This was probably due to our school being a magnet for the arts, so eccentric artsy people found their way to us. Let me tell you, gay band geeks make the best lunch period buddies.
Keep in mind there is a stereotype out there for female folk singers: "Carpet Muncher Music." I knew a couple of them in college, and they were great people despite the stigma on them.

Personally I'm straight (though I'm keeping my options open), but I know a few lesbian and bisexual band geeks. Our band tends to always have a few. Most of the band is very accepting of it, so it works out quite well. I love my lesbian flute friend!
