The river sections off a portion of the sanctuary, allowing for a peaceful seperation from the homes of the Serpenti to the bustling marketplace and gathering places surrounding it.
The water that flows along this line is consistantly clear, allowing those who seek comfort in the lulling sounds it offers view of the varying fish that dwell along it's current.
The river's depth varies, and Serpenti who desire a refreshing dip in the cool water are often thankful again for the clarity of the water, as near the middle there is a deeper flute that may cause problems, especially if the curious Serpenti is not so well a swimmer.

Laiyoon had started to make her way home from the central dome, but as she started over the river, something glittering within the stones of the riverbed caught her eye. Squinting slightly to get a better look, she braced herself on the tall railing of the bridge and leaned in attempt to better see what the shimmering thing may be.

The sun filtered through the trees and hit the river before Jordyn like a scattering of diamonds, and to the newly grown serpent the gentle warmth on his fresh scales felt like heaven. This was the first time in weeks he'd been left alone and wasn't constantly hearing the sound of his brother's insistant prattling. It had been bad enough with just Meth, but with the delivery of the eggs Jordyn had very nearly forgotten what 'quiet' was.
Wrapped in his own thoughts like a comfortable blanket, the shadow overhead went unnoticed for several seconds. That is until the sound of scales on wood accompanied the dark shape.
Pulling his cap up upon his head and drawing the long length of his body to full heighth, the tribal marked male wound his way to the water before him and looked up to the bridge.
"You should be careful," he called out to the slender shape hovering above him. "Those railings aren't very sturdy."

Oh! Laiyoon squeaked in surprise as Jordyn's voice as it broke her concentration, and she shifted back away from the railing a moment. Deep blush flushed her cheeks, though she offered a warm smile to the other as she peered back over the ledge.
You startled me some, she admitted, tucking her long light-brown locks behind her ear. I didn't realize anyone was around.
Her rose eyes examined the other a moment before she paused again, and a melodic laughter escaped her lips. Omigosh, Jordyn? She felt this assumption was a long shot, but watching the others within the sanctum grow, it was possible that this startlingly hansome man offering warnings was indeed the same child she'd met in the dome.

The mentioning of his name gave Jordyn some pause and as he pondered he silently and quickly went through the list of women he knew. Obviously it wasn't Mal, or there'd be more anger in the voice... Peering past the light and into the dark face of the girl on the bridge he could start to see minimal facial features. His eyes got wide as he face flushed at the recognition. "Laiyoon?"
Shaking his head to clear it, and the warm feeling in his face, he held a hand up in greeting to the familiar figure. "Stay right there, I'll come up to you!"
Calling out was much louder than he was used to speaking, so it made sense for him to get closer to the female serpent. The fact that he was instantly drawn to such a warm moment from his short past was just the cherry on the icing.
After following the winding trail back up to the bridge, Jordyn stopped short of Laiyoon and nearly lost all ability to speak. Blinking several times, he shrugged it off. "Hey there, long time no see. Right?"

Holding a shallow breath as Jordyn made his way closer, Laiyoon finally exhaled a laugh as the younger Serpenti greeted her.
Right, she exhaled, shifting forward some to close the gap between their forms. I almost didn't recognize you, but there aren't any others with your hair color here, are there? Another melodic laugh spilled from her lips as she gently brushed her fingertips through the ends of his hair.
Unable to help herself, Laiyoon slipped her slender arms around Jordyn's shoulders and pulled him into a gentle hug. It's great to see you again, I was starting to think I'd really upset you before.

Jordyn allowed himself to be pulled into the embrace with a warm smile and returned the gesture by resting his arms about her waist. This, and the fleeting fingers in his hair, were forms of affection he wasn't used to. He wasn't going to reject it in any case.
"That never should have been a worry for you," the young male said with a shake of his head. "My sister, or roomate, can get rather terrifying when she's not happy with something..."
Pulling back out of the hug, he placed his fingertips on her cheek; much like he had done with his whole hand the first time they had met. "I was so young, anyway..."

Laiyoon let her head tilt ever so slightly into the touch to her cheek Jordyn offered. Her features formed a shy but warm smile, and she pressed her lips together before laughing softly. I'm afraid that most women, when upset over something, no matter how trivial, can become quite terrifying.
She wasn't sure what it was about this younger male, but she was drawn to him. Her pale cheeks flushed with deeper color at this realization, and she shifted to press a gentle kiss to his cheek.
Have you been up to much since the first time we met? Her question was innocent enough, asked with bright eyes and a warm smile as she tried to at least fade the blush on her pale cheeks, though it was harder to do than she thought it may have been.

He cringed at the thought, but laughed lightly as well. "Oh, don't say that! I'm likely to go find a hole and never come out!" With the relaxation of a good laugh, Jordyn couldn't help but tease the older girl. He really liked her, and the feeling of ease that came from being around her was nice. Even if it was only the second time he'd seen her.
Flushing up to his ears at the touch of lips to his cheek, the boy mentally tried to hide beneath his hair.
"No... Not really. Mostly I just hide-out under the bridge to escape our increasingly growing home." Thinking down to his little spot beneath the bridge he had an excellent idea. "Come with me," he said enthusiastically as he grabbed a hold of her hand at the same time. "There's something down there I think you'd appreciate."

As Jordyn took her hand, all of her thoughts disappeared, and she found herself unable to do anything but let the younger male lead her along and exhale a soft 'Alright'.
She couldn't help but smile brightly as Jordyn led her to the spot he spoke of, though the fluttering that her heart did almost confused her.

Jordyn stopped just at the water's edge, right before the bridge. Pointing at a bright silver glimmering in the water, he lowered himself down and reached towards it with his fingers. At the touch of his slender fingers to the crisp liquid, the pool of silver dashed in several different directions like the scattering of a firecracker.
"They're tiny little bugs!" He exclaimed in an informative way, "I'd never seen anything like them before."
Taking the fingers of Laiyoon's that he still had clasped within his own, he tugged her down carefully and put her fingers to the water. "See?"

Little bugs?! Her tone was likely more surprised sounding than she meant it to be as her words escaped her, but she let Jordyn guide her fingers towards the water without hesitation.
From the bridge, they looked like a piece of jewelry or something, I was debating whether or not to come investigate before you called out to me, she giggled, biting gently her lower lip as she looked from the streaking little bugs to the apple-eyed boy.
How did you come to find they were little bugs? she asked, an heir of amusement still in her tone.

Jordyn took his hand out of the water and shrugged at the same time. "Same way you would have, really..." He decided that for now it might be best to keep it to himself that he had first tried to catch them, thinking the tiny critters were fish. "I saw the flash in the water and investigated."
Watching Laiyoon with the bugs, Jordyn moved backwards some and reclined on the river's bank right where the rocks were warmest. Closing his eyes against the light, the pink haired boy let the light bleach away his cares.
"I've looked everywhere else along the river," he said lazily. "They only seem to like this one spot."

Laiyoon offered Jordyn a bright smile, half certain on her own without his explanation the younger Serpenti likely did more than simply dip his hand into the water - The little guy she remembered was terribly inquisitive, and she knew that it was unlikely to go away any as he grew.
Really? she giggled as she broke her gaze from Jordyn to examine the fleeting critters in the water. That's peculiar...Perhaps they've found something special here as well. It was possible, after all, that the little bugs were attracted to a mineral deposit, but all the stones looked very much the same to her.
Her blush darkend slightly as she turned her gaze back over Jordyn, her smile shifting to a softer, appreciative form as she watched him quietly a moment before poking at the rocks that the little bugs seemed to favor. Maybe there's an underground sprink nearby, and it's offering out warmer water right here that the little bugs enjoy?

The younger male opened his eyes wide long enough to catch sight of his female companion and smiled a slow and easy grin. Jordyn enjoyed the moment he was allowed to watch her as she mused before realising just how much he was enjoying it and blushed a deep crimson. Her hair catches the sun so perfectly... Pulling his hat down as far as he could, while still being able to see, he hoped Laiyoon had missed the rush of color to his face.
"I hadn't thought about warmer water," he commented quickly in hopes of distracting her from any attention to his face. "I thought maybe that was the only spot where the current wouldn't whisk them away."
