Part 1
"No, no NO!" Sokka's voice echoed around the small village. "We can't keep stopping! We have a schedule! Are you listening to me? SCHEDULE!"
No one actually was listening to him, surprise, surprise.
"Sokka, Appa's tired, we need to stop and let him rest." said Aang.
"Well, that's just great." Sokka said moodily. "Now we have to stay here. Look at this place, it's tiny and...icky!"
"What are you, a little girl? Aang is right, Appa needs rest." Katara rolled her eyes. "Anyway, people live here, keep your voice down.
"Actually Katara, Sokka's right. I mean, look at the place, it's...real icky." Toph said, getting off Appa's back.
"Thank you! At least someone else can see-" Realisation dawned on Sokka's face. "Oh, right..."
Aang and Katara burst into laughter at the look on Sokka's face.
The door of one of the nearest little houses opened, and a girl looked out curiously. "Do you want to come in, or are you going to stand out here all night?"
"Come in?"
"Yes, come in, you need somewhere to sleep, and it's not safe to stay out here in the dark."
Seeing the look on the four travellers faces, she added, "Do I look like a Fire Nation warrior to you?"
With her tanned skin and grey-blue eyes, they had to admit she didn't [and Toph was stuck with the others word for it].
"Well then..." she stood aside to let them through. As Sokka brought up the rear, however, she blocked his way. "Not you, ponytail, we wouldn't want you to get all icky, now would we?"
"So you heard that?" Sokka looked slightly embarrassed.
"There's no one on the planet that didn't hear that. Wait here." And she went inside, shutting to door in his face.
A few minutes later, she came out with two buckets brimming with water.
"Take your bison round the back. It can sleep there. Then come and get these and give it something to drink. Then I'll consider letting you in."
And with that she shut the door again.
-------------------
"Mizu! Tell mother I've got four new guests!"
"Alright." came the replying call.
The girl smiled at the three she'd allowed entrance to and led them into a room.
"Sit down, we'll get you something to eat shortly." she said.
"You don't have to-" Katara began.
"Don't worry about it." the girl interrupted.
There was a knock at the door. "Wait there."
The girl opened the door to a soaking wet Sokka.
"Appa didn't want water." he said, a trifle unnecessarily

Soon, all five of them were sitting around the big table in the room. Katara was resolutely refusing to dry Sokka off, saying that it served him right.
"I'm Tei." said the girl. "And you're Sokka, ponytail."
"How did you know-"
"I heard one of the girls say it earlier. Speaking of which, I'd hazard a guess at this one being Katara, and probably a relation to you as well."
"I'm his sister."
"Water tribe?"
"South Pole."
A strange look crossed Tei's face, but it was dismissed quickly.
"And you. Toph Bei Fong, if I'm not very much mistaken. Your father isn't the happiest of people right now."
"You've seen him?"
"Not personally, but a few workers up at that big house your lot live in were here talking about the Avatar kidnapping you."
"She's only teaching me Earthbending!"
"So that means you are the Avatar." Tei's face was serious now. "The last Airbender."
"I-"
"And together we make up Team Avatar!" Sokka interrupted.
Fortunately, that was when another girl entered. "Mother's bringing food now, Tei." She spoke much more quietly and calmly than her sister.
"Ah! Right, I almost forgot. Everyone, this is my sister Mizu. Mizu, this is Katara and Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe-" A brief look covered Mizu's face, similar to the one on Tei's earlier. "And this is Toph Bei Fong, Earthbending extraordinaire, so I hear."
Mizu nodded. "The missing girl?"
Toph didn't take kindly to being referred to as this.
"And this, my dear Mizu, is Aang."
"Hello." Mizu was obviously wondering why the name had been said with so much gusto.
"Aang is an Airbender, Mizu."
Realisation dawned on Mizu's face. "The Avatar..."
"Don't parade it everywhere, sister. Anyway, these people must be hungry. Mother!"
A harassed looking woman came in. "Yes, Tei, I'm coming as fast as I can." She placed a large tray almost overflowing with food. "Eat up dears, and you can go to your rooms..."
"Oh, you don't have to..." started Katara.
"Oh, it's no trouble dear, I'm used to it!"
"Our mother rents out our house to travellers. Not that we get much buisness, what with Chi Sato being so small and icky." Tei said, glancing at Sokka.
"Chi Sato? Is that where we are now?" asked Aang, looking odd.
"Yes." said Mizu. "Why?"
"Just asking." Aang said quickly.
Distraction came in the form of a three year old. A little girl, rubbing her eyes, entered the room. "Mama...hungry..."
"Awa, sweetie, go to bed."
But Awa was no longer listening. "Bunny!"
The other seven in the room stared at the girl. What bunny?
Awa stumbled around the room to where Aang sat "Bunny!" she insisted before squeezing Momo until he couldn't breathe.
"Awa, no!" Tei said sternly
The kid let go and pouted. Momo dashed to Aang's shoulder, hissing.
"My sister, Awa." Mizu explained.
Silence as they ate and Tei's mother took Awa back upstairs.
Sokka didn't like silence.
"So, can any of you two fight?"
Katara rolled her eyes.
"Actually, Mizu fights Kyoshi Warrior style." Tei said
Sokka spat out his noodles.
"That's disgusting." Katara scolded.
"Y-you? Kyoshi Warriors? And...huh?"
"Didn't think I looked the type, ponytail?" asked Mizu, showing she was more like her twin sister than she let on. "I had to find some way to make up for being a non-bender, didn't I?"
Tei threw a nut shell at her. "Quit your moaning."
"I can't bend either." Sokka said.
"We got that."
"Can Aang bend?" asked Tei innocently.
"Yeah, he's an Airbender, but he's also a good wat-" That's when Sokka, the showoff, realised he'd just made a fool of himself. "I hate you already."
"Love you too, ponytail." Tei said sweetly.
Mizu smiled. "Come on, I'll show you to your rooms.
"Nighty night, Team Avatar" Tei said.
