Okay, get this. I was reading Heart Shaped-Box by Joe Hill. Because, one, it looked cool, and two, Gerard was reading it.

At about page 139 in HSB, it says something about MCR:
"My Chemical Romance was on Conan. They had rings in their lips and eyebrows, their hair done up in spikes, but beneath the white pancake make-up and black lipstick they looked like a collection of chubby kids who had probably been in their high-school marching band a few year earlier. They leaped around falling into each other, as if the stage beneath them were an electrified plate. They played frantically, pissing themselves with fear. Jude liked them. He wondered which of them would die first"

Have you read the book?
No..... wierdly intrigued to borrow a copy now...

What did you think about Mr. Hill's comments?
Eh, their intitled to their own oppions, I don't think its very nice, but thats just my opion

Do you think they really look like that?
No, its more electric shock fun to watch... they're just so into it its fun to watch!! (That was a long time alog, Gerard lost ALOT of wieght, along with Bob... eh, I wouldn't say chubby, he always had a problem, if you want to call it a problem, he seemed happy no matter what happened) ... They were never in a marching band until TBP!!!!

Well.... I haven't seen that in a book, but you know the book that they said they got their name from? Yeah, I read that one. I understood why they liked it too. Irivine Welsh's works... I can't figure out which book they got their name from quite yet though

Who do you think'll die first and how?
I don't want to think about it..... I'd say some very wierd twist of fate or something. Gerard dyin of cigs... he'll probably give it up (hopefully) if he ever gets kids with his wife... he wouldn't want to hurt the little Gerard Jrs

@ TV Suicide: Yeah, I agree. Gerard was a little chubby durring the first two albums, I didn't notice Bob a little over-weight....

@ Devyn: You don't like Mr. Hill that much, huh? Yeah, it's kind of cool to see how OTHER people who aren't a big MCR fan see's them. I hope he meets no one of the MCRmy, for his sake.

Unconcerned...it is poetic lisence...the book is about an ageing rock star...he's gonna comment on the big band of the moment.

No, only a total idiot would agree with this statement 'Mr Hill' is a talented author and should be respected twice over as he is the son of Stephen King but decided to make his name out of his own reputation. It's a good book and it's creepy...don't get so offended...i'm sure the boys would be honered they are forever immortalised.

I feel sooooo stupid!! Now I know which book you're talking about!! I heard this guy is actually better than his dad! Hehehehee... No wonder Gerard was reading it, super good chase scenes I'm told.I saw the writer in an interview on some morning show.. hes kinda cute! His CHARACTER thinks these things. The writer could actually rather resepct them so he's paying tribute to them!!

How many bands that are like ours get mentioned in books?? I'm rather intrigued now. Hehehehe.... at the beginning of writing the writer said he though about killing off the main character so picking at a band and taking guesses like that is dropping hints of what may happen. Eh?

Hehehehe... Mikey, Gerard, Rays, Franks and Bobs greatest dream at one point was dying in a horror movie.... I think they got awful damn close with the book!!

I've read Catcher In the Rye three times to date, and its quickly becoming one of my favorite books. The story is in the telling.

First read through, he's a depressed boy with a bleak view of the world that doesn't trust people (sound familiar?) but the second time I read it I really started loving Holden Caulfield.

He's got all the marks of teenage angst, he got expelled from Pencey Prep, he loves to be wild and exaggerative, he's cynical and jaded, and he's sick of all the phonies in the world. (Sound familiar?) I think anyone's who has ever found themselves observing the world around them, anyone's who's ever been called a screw up, anyone who doesn't belong (MCR fans) can relate to Holden on some level.

I'll have to read HSB, but please give Catcher another chance. You might be surprised.

He can think what he wants, but I dissagree with him. And I don't remember them ever wearing black lipstick.
Oh and shouldn't it be "rings on their lips" not "in their lips" ?

*shakes head* No. I think he generalized a bit. Bob and Frank are the only ones with lip rings, and at the moment Mikey is the only one with "spikey" hair.. sort of...

From this statement? Sort of. But as I, and others have said before its HIS opinion. He can think and write what he wants. If he was spreading rumors and making fun of them that would be different. But still I don't agree with him. So in some ways yes and in some ways no.

yeah I was reading it while my friend was reading it but she reads faster and got done before me. She told me about the MCR part before I got there. I now wonder if Gerard suggested this book b.c. MCR was in it but still it was a good book ,worth reading.
