It was late yet the moon was bright, though its silvered beams did little to lighten the gloom of the forest floor. What little light did manage to make it left pools of soft silver glittering on each leaf and lump of bark. Something dark moved through the shadowed trunks, the bulked shape occasionally passing under a beam of moonlight, the fur cast briefly in pale silver before the creature moved onwards, returning to the thick shadows.
Cloud flicked an ear sleepily, his short mane flipping against his neck as he ducked his head under a branch. An owl had woken him, hooting right above where he had been resting. Awake, if not alert, he had decided to move on, having napped for a while he wanted to enjoy the quiet of the night time landscape.

Ebony hooves fell silently in the night into already existing prints. Step for step a silver body mimicked the movements of the prey before it. Only for moments did the hunter become visible in the moonlight before disappearing in the shadows beneath fur as black as coal. Aderes, the hunter, grinned broadly as she came closer with each step. It had been a while since she had stalked something this large, and the thought of feast to come made her mouth water. Finally, when she believed herself to be close enough for the bit of flesh to be unable to escape if it bolted, Aderes raised her head to the sky and let out a clear, long, bone chilling howl.

A strange sensation made his coat prickle, hair standing on end as if something had just brushed over his shadow. Halting suddenly, head shooting up as ears flicked back and forth, straining for some kind of sound, some reassurance that everything was normal.
Cloud was not the jumpy type, though no lion he was relatively laid back and cheery. But in the silent shadowed forest he suddenly felt the presence of danger. A sensation no herbivore enjoyed.
Muscles tense, every tiny scurry in the bush around making the dark bulk flinch, the lone stallion waited. Ears and eyes straining into the night.
The sudden lash of shrill sound sent the startled male into a thundering gallop. Eyes wide and rolling as he ducked under branch and darting round trunk, short tail flying behind him like a midnight blue banner. Nostrils flared sharp snorts of breath left the great chest with each stride, tail flagged, lashing against shrubbery as the muscled stallion thundered past.
Just as suddenly as he started, he skidded to a halt. Head up, ears back, the spooked stallion swung round, facing back the way he had come. Hide flickering as tight muscles shivered beneath.

The meat bolted, and so did Aderes. The male was bigger than she was, or so she though as she sized him up. As she ran the male began to leave her behind, if only for a few yards. This confirmed her assumption and mad her giggle madly.
It was only at the last moment that Aderes realized the male Soquili had stopped. With what could only be described as a crazed roar/whinny Aderes bunched herself up, her muscles rippling under her silver white skin, and pushed off from the ground. Aderes flew into the air with the leap and straight for the male Soquili. She burst from the darkness of the woods and into a patch of light that managed to filter through, her fore hooves outreached as if to catch the stallion and her jaws open wide to snag a hunk of blue flesh.
It seemed to her that there was no way to loose.

The piercing scream shot through the blue soquili, freezing him with pure fright for a fraction of a second, yet that was all that was needed to let any chance of escape slip away. The quick-silver flash of the phantom materialised in front of him, a spectre with gaping jaws and teeth he didn’t want to be introduced to. With a scream to rival his attacker’s he took the only option left to him. Massive haunches bunched, muscles straining as the blue body reared upwards. Ears pinned to the sides of his head, mouth wide, the stallion met the flying predator full-on, front hooves slicing through the air. The two bodies clashed, each carried by their own momentum. Nostrils wide and red rimed, the stallion lunged forwards, teeth seeking purchase on the other.

It was a turn that Aderes had not expected. It was the first time for her that the prey had decided to fight back. It was a challenge that, although Aderes reveled at the thought of a good fight, she did not know if she was ready for.
The collision happened in a matter of seconds, the sickening sweet sound of flesh and bone slamming against each other as her momentum carried her into the rearing stallion hitting her sensitive ears like a melody. A slight tremor rippled through her lean muscled body as the adrenaline thrill of the hunt coursed through her veins. The male lunged and so did Aderes, saliva from her recently watering jaws flecking her black muzzle as her fangs seeked a soft bit of blue skin to sink into.
Aderes didn't even try to avoid the attack of the larger foe, it did not matter to her if his blunt herbivore teeth nipped at her skin. She could not at that moment see how any damage he could do could match the damage she could do. Blinded by a lust for blood it seemed to her that both parties would strike their targets true.

Cloud may not have been a stallion that looked for a fight, but he knew how to handle himself. Bigger in bulk and sheer strength than the creature attacking him he used the raw power in his haunches to shove forwards. Chest shoving against the paler body as his neck snaked out to one side, avoiding the razor sharp fangs that were aimed his way as his own blunt but powerful jaws clamping down over the other soquili's withers. Taking the stranger's attack on his muscled shoulder.
The female was right about the stallion's teeth. On their own they proved little threat, but coupled with the blue stallion's strength and the fact that he was, quite literally, fighting for his life, they were perhaps not to be dismissed so easily. Those blunt protrusions didn't rip flesh from bone, but they did clamp like a vice on the mare's wither, latching onto the protrusion of bone. Muscled neck bunched and strained, haunches trembled with the effort as the stallion fought to toss his attacker to the side. Using his immoveable grip on her withers as leverage.

A pinch of pain barely flickered through her as the flesh bag bit her. Sure, Aderes hadn't hit her target, but no matter, she at least hit something. She sank her teeth into his shoulders, her fangs piercing his flesh and deep into his muscle. Blood seeped from the punctures, sweet and metallic, just as it should be from a good quality meal. Aderes chuckled as she sucked the liquid from the would, making sure not to release her grip.
Though she was somewhat surprised when the pinched began to worsen. The pain shot up her neck as her front hooves began to be lifted of the ground. Aderes snarled and tightened her grip. If he wanted to throw her he could, but by doing so he would be ripping away his own flesh.

A low grunt of pain was forced between clamped jaws as agony ripped into his shoulder. Fire burned through flesh and muscle before a strange suction attached itself to the wound.
Front hooves scrabbled against the ground as the stallion forced himself against his attacker, blue-coated haunches straining. The muscles under the skinwalker's teeth bunched and strained, forcing the blood faster from the wound to soak the stallion's saphire coat.
Realising that he would only lame himself dangerous if he forced the throw he changed tactics. Blunt, crushing teeth left the mare's withers as the blue head came snaking at her's. Jaws agape as a furious scream issued forth moments before the stallion's herbivore teeth clashed together. Aiming to trap the mare's ear between them to be ripped free or ground flat by the vice-like grip.

Pan shot through Aderes' skull as the blue creature she was latched onto bit, of all things, her ear. She released the bit of flesh she was holding onto as a bellow of pain forced it's way out of her mouth. She ripped her head away from the blue beast only to have her head stop suddenly. The teeth that held her were strong indeed, she hadn't anticipated this.
Aderes snaked her head around, her ear twisting painfully in his grip. She lunged. At least now she could reach flesh closer the males jugular vein, and with this thought in mind she lunged once more at his tender flesh.

Triumph! He felt the searing pain of teeth fade a little as the creature released his shoulder, though the fresh wound bled steadily. Instantly he released his grip on the bloodied ear as the female twisted. His own head swung round, jaws wide as he drove for the creature's muzzle. Using his height to force his attacker lower as he reared up, away from his vulnerable throat and towards his chest.
Forelegs struck out, hooves blunt but solid with the full weight of the stallion behind the blow, thudding into the mare's shoulder and chest, bloodying the pale coat. Almost simultaneously a new pain exploded low down on his throat, driving a shriek of pained rage from him. Lunging downwards he clamped his jaws over the top of the creature's muzzle, neck muscles bulging as he bit down on the warm flesh. Fury blazed in his grey eyes, the wound at his shoulder still bleeding, his entire foreleg was slick with the thick coppery liquid.
