He and his brother had been mostly silent after their escape from Tarnish. Neither of them seemed to know what to say to the other one or know how to react. It just wasn't normal for them to be in each other's company for so long without someone yelling.
They'd stopped by a smaller branch of the river on the way back home to get some water and rest. If they went back to their family looking like they'd ran from something their parents or siblings were bound to ask questions.
"Wylie...." He looked up and over at his brother after getting a drink of the water. "I'm .... glad yer alright"

"..." He turned to look at his brother, pausing for a moment to question things... Maybe his brother had hit his head off of something or maybe that thing, whatever the hell it was, had hit him. After a moment his look softened, eyes closing as he realized the truth in the words... Truth because, deep down, he felt the same way.
"M'glad you are too... Never been so scared in all m'life." He shook his head slowly before turning to look at his brother.

"Let's try not to do that again huh?" That was something you could do once in life and cross off the list. He never wanted to run into something like that again.

"What'd the odds of that actually happenin' again be? 'Specially with the two of us... It'd mean we were actually... Spendin' time t'gether." He gave his head a light toss before glancing over at his brother. "Sure gets your heart goin' though, doesn't it?" He could almost understand why Sedi enjoyed getting into trouble. Almost.

"With the odds of you getting yourself into trouble cause you can't back down and me havin to get you're rear out of it?" He grinned at his sibling. He could have lived very nicely without his heart ever beating that fast or like that. That was more Sedi's game than his.

"I still say that'd require you bein' able t'spend more than five minutes in my company without huffin' an' puffin' an' running off t'spend time with what's his name." He snorted softly as he turned his head away from his brother, leaning down to take a drink from the stream. It wasn't like Dodger needed him or anything like that... Why put up with a pesky brother when you had a friend that you enjoyed spending time with?

"Tony." Of course Wylie wouldn't remember his friends name. They never spent enough time together to talk about who they knew. "S'easier to go ran at him than ta end up taking everything out on you." That way at least his brother could stand him a bit even if not much.

"I guess... You'll be goin' off t'talk t'him now." He pawed at the damp earth of the bank before taking a step across the stream, shoulders squared and neck muscles tense. "Wouldn't want t'bother you by makin' you stay 'round here..."

"I ... hadn't really thought about it, no." He had mostly been thinking about making sure his brother was alright. HE and Wylie might not have always got along but that didn't mean he wanted his brother dead or injured.

"Really?" He glanced back over his shoulder, unable to keep the suprise from his voice. He didn't see why not... Dodger had never seemed to want to spend time with him before. He'd never seemed comfortable out it. The air between them always wound up feeling thick, as if it were trying to turn into a wall.

"I was a little more concerned with making sure you weren't hurt than i was in thinking about telling Tony about things." He could always find his friend. He couldn't always make sure that Wylie was alright. He only had one Wylie and he wasn't going to let some stupid injury take that away.

"It'd take a lot more than a scare t'hurt me." He flashed his brother a grin, not sure if he meant it or if he was just putting it on for show. It must have been the latter because it faded the moment he turned his head away from his brother. "... Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. He didn't hit me that hard." The kalona thing had gotten a pretty good whack in but he'd shaken it off pretty well. He'd been more worried at the time in making sure that Wylie wasn't hurt than thinking about himself.

"Good. If we're not allowed t'hurt each other by buttin' heads then I'd rather not think someone else was gettin' t'do what I'm not supposed to be." He glanced back over his shoulder once more.

"We're only not allowed to do that when mama knows about it" What she didn't know wouldn't hurt them. "Speaking of mama ... how about we not mention this to her? She'd worry over us for days if she even thought we'd gotten hurt."
