She'd left company with Ember and gone on a search for her Father. She wanted to catch him away from home so that the rest of the family didn't have to hear their conversation. She hated the thought of being stern or mean with him so she didn't want to have to share that with others.
How could he do that though? How could he just tell her friends that they weren't allowed to talk to her? That was so ... so .... mean!

He had been thinking lately; thinking more than he had since Kochu'Akai had come into his life... Almost as much as he had thought before he had met Nostalgia as well. His three children were quickly growing up, soon to be children no more... Yet it was his job to protect them, wasn't it? He would not be a good father if he didn't....
"Good Spirits guide me." He murmured as he gazed up at the sky before tilting his head back down, pacing in another small circle around the clearing.

It had been easy enough to find her father once she'd started looking though the places she knew he went to when he wanted to get away. Even in the dim light of the evening it was easy to spot her father's form out there.
Trotting into the clearing she smiled brightly. "Daddy .... we need to talk"

He hadn't expected the break in his solace but the sound of the voice was, at least, a welcome one. A slight smile curved the corners of his mouth as he turned his head towards the oldest of his three children. "My ears are always open to you, Atae."

Good. He wasn't acting like he even knew what she wanted which probably meant that he hadn't really thought much about chasing off her friend since he'd done so.
She took a deep breath before she raised her head and looked at him. "I don't appreciate you chasing off my friend."

His brow lofted slightly as he looked at his daughter. She seemed to have some sort of thought in her mind; the sort of thought that caused the looks that brought trouble. "Which friend of yours would that be, Atae? I do not recall being introduced to any."

"Don't act like you don't know." she huffed slightly. "You saw me talking to him and then you told me to go home and you told him not to talk to me again. I know you did." She didn't trust Ember one bit but Pyre had been staying away and she couldn't think of any other reason.

His nostrils flared slightly as he stood his ground, one hoof pawing at the bare earth beneath it. He was usually a reasonable stallion, prone to listening to others before judging... But in some cases he would not back down and this was one of them. "How often have I told you that fire is a very dangerous thing, Atae? That you should not trust anyone who says otherwise?"

"Yes, a fire would be something i'd know to run from as soon as i saw or smelt it. He isn't that though daddy." She wasn't about to let him tell her that she couldn't make friends with other's she liked. "He's a stallion and perfectly harmless. I've talked to him a few times and i haven't been hurt." She didn't think he would hurt her either.

"He is that. It is a part of him just as much as your mother's wings are a part of her. He is not to be trusted." His eyes narrowed for a moment, softening only as he took a step towards his daughter. "I do not want anything to happen to you, Atae'Seirie. I have lost much in my life because of flames... They are dangerous, no matter how harmless he may seem. Some of the most deadly things work through deception."

"But he's not!" She took a step back. She wasn't going to let him pretend that it was alright to chase away her friends just because he was scared. "He's not going to hurt me and he's not playing with me so he can hurt me. He's always been ice. If he was going to hurt me why would he have made sure to walk me home?"

He straightened out once more, holding his head high as he watched her. "How do you know, Atae? What makes you so certain that he is not trying to lull you into a false sense of security? What if he wanted to find out where you lived so that he could hurt others?"

"What if he's not? Why do you have to assume that just because you are scared that he's going to live up to all your fears?" Everything was put here for some reason or another. Daddy had told her as much himself. That meant that even though the fires were harmful things and dangerous that they couldn't also be something good somehow.

"I am not assuming anything. I am speaking from experience." His eyes narrowed and, for the first time, he felt like turning away from his daughter. She didn't understand and turning away would not make her understand. "What if you came home one day... And all that you loved, all that you held dear, was gone? Taken by fire?"

"I know daddy..." She had heard the story before. He'd told her why he always made sure that she and her siblings knew to stay away from fires. "But ... but that's not now. I know your warnings and i know what you've said and i believe you. I wouldn't ever dream of going anywhere near a fire but Pyre's not the same. What if mommy had been like that? Would you really want to know what you'd let get away from you just because you were afraid of what might happen?"
She knew it wasn't the same but she didn't want to be held back just because of mights or could be's. "I love you daddy but i don't want to let uncertainties keep me from doing things. Just because you've had a bad expierence doesn't mean the same thing is going to happen again."
