At what level does purple gear start to drop?

On Sunday, I picked up something from the Gladiator set in BRD, and I was just completely shocked, since it was purple and everything.

Mass purple gear begins at 70.

Ah. The only Gladiator set I'm familiar with are the PvP level 70 set smile hence the confusion.

Purple drops are rare but it can happen smile but still rare.

dropped for me just last week in SM Lib. Caused 2 people to fight though. One person won it (everyone rolled), another got mad cause he claimed he put dibs on it and we all said ok. lol Damn nubs. ( ^_^ wink

That piece was blue before the last patch, where they buffed pre-TBC drops/ nerfed pre-TBC dungeons. I wouldn't bother trying for the rest myself, just level up & get to Outlands. ;3

Agreed. If you got the set, you would likely replace it rather quickly with greens in the outland anyway, so I would not bother trying for it. Outland greens are usually better than pre-BC purples (much to the dismay of some pre-BC raiders). xp

As others said, purple BoPs drop a lot when you're level 70. Before that, purples can drop, they just don't drop quite as often.

While my alt and a friend's alt were running BRD a day or two, we got a purple BoE drop. I forget what it was. A mace I believe. We all rolled greed. I lost. I should ask my guildie how much he ended up selling it for. xp
