So I have friends and acquaintances that I know well enough to have coffee with them, or chat over MSN, or whatever, and some of them are sufficiently dumb to believe in chain letters. Not the money scam type like "send $5 to everyone on this list then add your own name to the list and send it to a list of your friends" - not that bad. No, it's just the urban legends garbage. Jokes, horror stories (the hook was in the car door!), and fake science like "your cell phone can be programmed to open your car's automatic locks" and so forth. I used to ask politely and privately that I not be sent these, and you can tell how intelligent each one is by the amount of times I've had to ask. There is a negative correlation between IQ and the amount of requests.
Anyway the last holdout is still spamming, so I've taken to finding the link in Snopes.com that explains how the legend is fiction and replying to all the people on the list that she addressed. It might be just spamming back but it has to end somewhere!

Call me strange, but I enjoy reading about urban legends. The fake science can be annoying though.

I hate the cell-phone chain texts nowadays. I hate getting them at 1am.
... from my sister, across the hall... she didn't sleep well that night, or send me one ever again.
