Steps were light and soundless as the ulaya made her way through the field. The snow was growing thinner each week, mush to the female's dismay. As cold as it was, Zaha enjoyed the snow. Her thick fur made good for playing in the white substance, and she often blended perfectly. But now, as she looked around, some brown splotches of dirt were coming through, even with some hints of green. Oh well, it can't be winter forever. Sighing softly, Zaha continued her wanderings, skipping along in each snowy patch she could find.

Sunning himself on the broad, smooth surface of a large rock, Yves' dark fur shuddered a bit in the wintry sunlight. He didn't care much for the winter; however, his dislike was moreso towards the lack of foliage than the weather itself. Stretching a bit, he absently flicked an ear, paws splaying out for a moment before curling back to the warmth of his large body. Deep purple eyes soon spotted an approaching ulaya, however- Yves' lips curled back from his teeth in a soft smile as he recognized her from earlier. "Zaha?" he called, voice loud on the cool air.

Zaha froze on the spot, neck and ears straightening up on alert. She looked like a fox caught robbing a nest, as she glanced around for the voice owner. She had heard a voice, right? And it said her name, making her more curious. But then her teal eyes spotted the black ulaya, and her short tail instantly wagged. It was Yves! Now forgetting her pattern of stepping in snow, the girl pounced her way over to the other, skidding to a halt before the large stone. "Hello Yves! What are you doing way out here?"

Yves' smile spread across his face, tail bobbing a bit as the other ulaya approached. Tilting his head slightly to the side, he rolled a bit on the rock before shifting, hanging his front paws off of the edge. "Just relaxing," he replied, nodding his head softly, "Enjoying the sun. What brings you out here, then?

Eyes blinked as she tilted her own head, just to match sight with the other. But it felt odd to her neck, so she sat straight once again. "Oh. But...isn't the rock chilly?" Her glowy paw reached out and poked the stone sheepishly. Not...too bad. Striped shoulders gave a small shrug. "Oh, I'm just enjoying the outdoors. Not too many other ulaya out here, so it's kinda nice.."

Yves' swirled coat gave a light twitch, before he laid his head down upon his large paws. A soft breeze ruffle his fur, the tufts on the ends of his ears waving a bit in the wind. "You're welcome to join me, if you have the time." he said, smiling lightly and nodding to the large empty spot next to him, "It's always nice to have some company when you're simply admiring nature."

Zaha watched in faint awe as the wind played with Yves's dark fur. It wasn't often she met other ulaya, so to see a black pelt was a nice change compared to her faint pelt. "Really? Um, okay!" She scanned the height before making a soft jump, landing on the open side. She spun once, then twice, before making herself comfortable. Her own smaller paws hung over the rock as well. "Admiring? What were you admiring? I enjoy how the trees are sugared over with snow, myself." ^__^

Yves laughed softly, arching his neck a tad to stretch it. "I was admiring the clouds, actually," he replied simply, turning his violet-hued eyes upwards to glance at them again, "I envy them, because they get to float along all day without any worries..." He smiled, slightly bemused, tail twitching a bit behind him. "Wonderful things, the clouds are."

"The clouds." The pale ulaya blinked curiously, before looking up at the said objects in the sky. They did look nice, at least by what Zaha would consider so. "Oh? But what if they have worries too? Like getting smooshed by other clouds, or being lonely in the big blue air?" Her eyes shined to such ideas, like a young kit. She had never thought such things before, and now found herself staring up eagerly, as if waiting to confirm it. "But...they are wonderful still.."

"Mmm, yes." Yves replied simply, nodding a few times. His eyes were locked upon the sky, violet orbs watching the little balls of puff float by at their leisure. "I'm sure you're right about that one... after all, it would get boring after being stuck up there for hundreds of years- they must have something that they need to worry about."

Purple dipped ears wiggled slightly to his opinion, peeking back down to the other ulaya. "But...which one's better? To be bored and safe, or excited and threatened?" Zaha frowned to that thought, wondering if it was the same for everything that had to survive. But she shook her head, remembering that she had survived, even at the cost of her voice. "Besides, who wants to worry all the time.."

Yves noted the change in expression on the other ulaya's face for a moment, frowning softly. Ruffling his fur, he stood, seating himself promptly after that. "Well, you do have a point," he replied simply, "A point indeed." He paused for a moment, ears flicking a bit as they listened to sounds off in the distance, rubbling brooks and bird calls, mostly. "Tell me, Zaha," he started, looking down at her, "Do you like to run?"

Blink blink. "Running?" Zaha paused to consider it for a moment. "Umm, sometimes." She giggled softly. "It has to be fun running, not race running though!" Besides, her short legs could only go so far. So might as well enjoy the run instead of dreading it. Her head tilted curiously to Yves. "Why you ask?"

"Just because." he said, smiling lightly, "I remember... when I was a kit, I loved to run. Everywhere, all over the place. I haven't in quite a while though... would you like to run for a little while?" He looked down at her, lips curled past his teeth in a broad grin, "It doesn't have to be a race, I promise."

Her ears fell horizontal with a fake pout. "If you promise no races...." Her eyes scanned the area around them, thinking it a smooth place to roam about. "Okay then!" She smiled happily, and spun in a quick circle. "Catch me if you can!" And with that, she was off in a jog.
