This truly is my comfort zone...
Eridanus sighed softly as he looked at the stars above. Night had just fallen, and he instantly felt at ease. Just like the stars they shared across their backs, he knew his family was looking at the same stars and thinking of him. And it made him feel less alone.
He had been travelling for days, on a quest of sorts. But with the intention to meet new Soquili. He only really knew his family, and he knew that as much as he loved him, that wasn't really healthy.
He looked at a few of his favourite constellations as tey slowly came to light in the rapidly fading light. He wondered who else was out tonight...

Maharet peered out through her wings, darting teal eyes scanning the area through the gaps between her feathers. The wings slowly moved away from her face as she became a little more relaxed.
This was the first time she had ventured out on her own, without her mother even and she was very timid, every shadow loomed and every tiny noise was her vicious Kalona grandmother creeping up to eradicate her daughter's tainted spawn. She shivered, edging forwards, ears swivelling constantly as she travelled.
The winged mare paused again; this time she was certain that someone was approaching and she became rooted to the spot, unsure as to whether to flee on foot or take to the air.

Eridanus picked his hooves up hig as he trotted, practically prancing. He was so at ease at night, he almost forgot he was miles away from all that was familiar. He whistled a little, his eyes upwards at the skies and a smile on his face.
always, so beautiful.... He sighed slightly as his eyes came back down to look in front of him, and he found himself a lot closer than her expected to a beautiful, winged mare. His cheeks instantly flushed with colour and he took a few quick steps back to stop himself from crashing into her.
"Oh! I'm sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going!" His words tumbled out, the heart on his cheek bright pink. Just my luck, to embarass myself so...

Maharet's heart almost leapt clear from her chest, legs shook and mouth went dry as the stallion suddenly came into view.
'Please don't hurt me!' she exclaimed, the words slipping from her mouth before she had chance to clearly see who it was that she'd almost collided with as her eyes had squeezed shut at the mere sight of a Soquili sized 'thing'..
Thud..thud..thud..her eyes slipped open again, and with every ounce of courage she possessed she looked up at the one in front of her. 'Oh sorry, sorry!' she stammered. No 'Grandmother Monster' stood before her, only a stallion possessing an eye-pleasing countenance. Her own face burned with the embarrassment of knowing she'd made an utter fool of herself.

Eridanus' cheeks were burning. Silly, silly stallion.
"Are you ok? I didn't startle you too much did I? I'm so sorry, ma'am!" His words tumbling out so quickly they were almost impossible to make out. He realised how ridiculous he must be sounding and he took a deep breath, as well as a few steps back.
"I'm sorry... I'm Eridanus, and I hope I didn't scare you...."

Maharet had to take a moment, her throat having gone dry and she gave a small cough before managing to speak again, the air filled with the noise of rustling feathers, her wings trembling as she hadnt been able to make them stop yet.
'It's okay, it's my foolishness, I thought you were another.' her own words spilled out in a similarly swift manner, and the blood rushed once more to her nose, turning it from her fathers teal to a purple hue. 'Maharet. Is me..' Oh how much she wanted to crawl into a hole right now! There wasnt one big enough around though she was sure..

Eridanus couldn't help but chuckle.
"What a pair we are! My goodness..... I'm sorry I startled you so much... I was so caught up in dreaming about nothing, I wasn't paying attention..... Where were you heading?" He tiled his head quizzically, hoping he wasn't prying too much.

'I wasn't really going anywhere in particular,' Maharet explained as she continued to try to calm herself. It was evident that she didn't have anything to fear from this stallion, he spoke in a pleasant and friendly manner. Now she just had to feel ashamed for her reaction.
'I was just out, exploring. On my own for the first time. I seem to have made rather a bad job of it.' she said in a sheepish fashion, trying not to look at Eridanus. She was sure he must be laughing at her.
