With the 5 children that I had, Morning Sickness started before I even missed a period. It was not intense until about 2 weeks after my missed period and on 4 of the 5 was manageable (if not all but gone) by my 4th month. My oldest child I had morning sickness for the whole 7 1/2 months I was able to carry her (she came 6 weeks early). My mother had only one day of morning sickness with her three children and I was very put-out that mine would not be that easy! (My mother also had silent labor - and that I was even more jealous of!) 4laugh

mine started at about 2 months and lasted only about 3 weeks to a month. it took that long to get into the groove to constantly eating. (i did have twins!) i keept soda crackers by the bed and the What to Eat While You're Expecting book helped alot. I was very careful about what i ate since i really didn't need to get gestational diabetes and have underweight twins to be air lifted away from me as soon as they were born.

I have four kids and each one was different. One I was hardly sick at all, and one I was sick the whole time. 2nd trimester usually gets better, the 1st is the worst. The one that I didn't get sick with, I also didn't have any appetite - nothing tasted good...I ate anyway.

Eating crackers helped, and ginger helps (slice a ginger root, and suck on it).

GOOD LUCK!

with my son morning sickness started before i even missed my period but didn't get bad until after my missed period. i was sick the whole pregnancy but it helped if i ate a little every couple of hours. if i let my stomach get empty i would throw up when i did eat and i would get sick if i ate to much so i had to snack the whole day threw. then smells would make me throw up. with my second pregnancy i really didn't have to much morning sickness.

As has been said it varies. Both from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy. With both of my pregnancies it didn't set in until about 2 weeks after my missed period. With the first one I was able to work (though everyone there new I was pregnant before I was really ready to say so because someone would come through my line with some deli chicken or a bag of coffee and I had to call a manager over to my checkstand to finish the order so I could dash off to the bathroom and throw-up). redface
With my second daugther I acutally had worse problems with morning sickness and it was so severe that I could not keep anything down. I had to go in to the ER for an IV before I'd even had my first OB appointment. At the ER they diagnosed me with Hyperemisis Gravidarum (basically severe vomiting due to pregnancy) and at my first OB appointment I went on home IVs until we were able to get me on some nausea meds. I was not able to get off the nause meds until I was over 20 weeks along. Hyperemisis is not all that common though affecting .5-2% of pregnant women.

When I was pregnant i got morning sickness around 5-8 weeks and I thought I got the flu! Of course I was wrong because the flu doesnt last more then two weeks.
My appitite also didnt change while I was pregnant I had to force my self to eat because I just couldnt get my self to eat like a pregnant lady. biggrin
