Why does he want it so much? I mean, he's powerful enough without it, am I wrong? And InuYasha is only half-demon, so he needs a more powerful sword cause half the time, he would be dead(or demon twisted ) without it. Sesshomaru can fend for himself without a fancy sword, I mean, he's only got one arm and he's doing ok. So, do you think he really needs it?

I believe the answer was prety obvious from the getgo.
In the early half of the story, Sesshoumaru felt that - being a half demon - Inuyasha was unworthy of possessing the power that the Tessaiga held.
It didn't matter than Inuyasha was weaker and thereby needed that power moreso than his older brother, Sesshoumaru had simply seen it as Inuyasha was undeserving of their father's momento.

Yea...Sesshoumaru doesn't need that sword with fluff. He can kill a lot with his own strength and the Tokijin.

Yes, it was never really that he needed it. It was more a matter of principle as far as he was concerned. cool

Of course he needs it! You can't be supreme ruler if you don't possess the most powerful weapon, especially if it was your father's sword!

Well his arrogance led him to believe his younger brother wasn't worthy of such a sword which had belonged to their father and one of his main goals is to be the supreme ruler and fight only the most worthy and strongiest of demons. Having such a sword would benefit his cause a great deal in becoming stronger.

He's far more powerful than Inuyasha, even without a weapon, but in a fight with a more powerful daiyokai he would need one, like in latter chapters.
