So I'm trying to lvl my BF's 34 shadow priest by getting him in an SM group. I know, i know... -_- But he had lvl 20 gear from sfk, so I figure, hey why not, even greens are ok for him now. But... not only we died a lot, but then... I used to like PUGs. But now I'm starting to understand why people hate them... siiiigh

Pug'd SV (easycake, right) with the worst tank, rogue and boomkin I have EVER seen. Also in the party with me was a lock from my guild, whos a good buddy of mine. I was healing, so it was bad to begin with...I have no problems mainhealing pre-70 instances (the difficulty is akin to rolling my face over the right half of my keyboard, occasionally clicking the mouse with one of my flailing arms) but once I get to the 70 ones like SV and the TK ones I begin to have problems with healing. Tank couldnt hold aggro, mostly because the rogue would take it from him within a few seconds, then drop it, and the mobs would run back to my lock friend, while I'm sitting there mashing my shield/fade/GHeal buttons, growling over Vent to the lock, who could do nothing but laugh hysterically at the uselessness of it all. The group started to get better after the lock brought his blueberry out, but after the rogue, boomkin and tank got their keyfrag they all mysteriously disappeared, I can say I got a little disappointed. I had 2/14 myrmidons for my daily, and while UB/SV/SP is one of my favourite instances, it was, by that point, 4am, and I was going to bed.

I forget exactly what I was doing, but I had told my group repeatedly that I am a terrible healer. "OK," they said. "You can tank." I grudgingly agreed, being better at DPSing. The healer didn't heal me. Apparently their mouse broke or something. So we died. Take two, the healer's mouse was fixed, but I still died within 30 seconds because the healer was still doing a terrible job. So was I, for that matter. I can't tank anything to save myself. Eventually we all just gave up.

some PuG are not bad. Good healers and tank ARE hard to come by sad it is easier if you have certain addon which help healer (like healbot) or omen for tanks.
note: for those who do not know what healbot is, it is not actually a bot. It is a tool that display status of your party and allows you to cast heal and shortcut at different level. Also it monitor buffs if it is active or not.
Other class can use healbot too (my hunter does) cause all I have to do is right click the tank's name and I also target whatever the tank is targeting at the time smile comes in handy.

Ouch. I gave up on PUGS at like lv27...when I joined a super-cool guild and made some good friends on it too. After a while, I figured "why grab complete strangers, when you can do it with people you can trust much more to not let ya down?"... those were the days, though... alot of those people are gone now. And I'm left doing what they did for me back when I was new. sad I hate guild leavers...especially when they leave for really DUMB reasons. >>

I know the some members usually leave for. 1. it is not fun to play with them anymore. 2. Lack of raiding 3. lack of PvP 4. lack of direction.

Worst pug ever=2 rogues, one hunter (me) a resto shammy and a prot pally. i swear we wiped so many times because the rogues constantly overrode the pally's aggro and i spent more time trapping and misdirecting things than i actually did shooting. We gave up after the pally refused to learn that you have to RUN from ikiss's arcane thing. I ended up just inviting some guildies and we cleared him to finish out the daily.

I'm now the leader of an empty guild. The two guild leaders got in a fight about real-life stuff, and then one of their dads got into it.... it was stupid.

Once you get to higher level things like past Ulda people usually start to realize how to play their class. I make sure by the time I'm 20 I can sufficiantly play my class and my role with party members. If you can't learn by then I feel you really shouldn't be playing that class confused
Anyways, I just feel that a group should respect when a person says I don't feel comfortable tanking and or healing. I think it's stupid when the dps nominate the druid clearly made as a boomkin is nominated to heal the instance because we can't find a healer. It doesn't work like that. xp That's usually why you get such rotten groups too, because the people are usually being forced to do something important when they don't feel they can at this point on their toon.
I'm all for people deciding what they want to do, but if you say you're going to heal, make sure you can heal decently. For those who are trying healers out for the first time I'd suggest a priest. They get the fancy Power Word: Shield and a HoT Renew. Both are very handy and make healing easy. A great first time healer. For more experianced healers try the shaman. Can be a challenge, but I assure you, it's fun if you get plenty of bonus heal items. :]
The only real problem I've had in a PuG was when people don't understand the loot rules. That gets pretty annoying when you have the one rogue needing on my damn rare cloth item }:<
And people do leave guilds for their own reasons. Don't hate someone just because they left. O_o That'd be pointless. If you knew them, keep them on your friends list and talk to them.

I wish I know more people like you. lol My ele shammy is now 57, up to 40, she was enh, but she really only did dps in groups like 1 time. Maybe 2. The rest of the time, I'm healing. They say I'm a good healer (prolly cause I have a 70 priest), but really, the reason I make her dps is because I got sick of healing. But I find myself doing that all the time ;_;

Heh... not sure what to say. Good healers are hard to come by sad that is from my personal experience. I always respect people's comment. If someone tells me that they can't tank or heal. No problem, we'll try to find one. There are some warriors who are pure DPS and can't tank well and there are priest who can't heal well (shadow).
I know that shadow priest CAN heal smile I have group with some excellent shadow priest, but some SP doesn't like to heal as much.
