Damn that Smith! Gwyn fumed to herself at the thrown together, last minute, non-sense that he had yet again talked her into.
A frown creased the stocky woman's face. Damn and double damn. What the hell was he thinking. A furnace and that walking gem store. She was just a week away from heading back to her own work and he sprung it on her.
'Oh, one last class', and 'It'll be simple', and that silver-tounged snake lied! Gwyn crossed her arms. She'd just have to find out from the kids what was going on, then.

Halcyon walked into the room and removed his coat and two overshirts, leaving him in a tank top and what looked like bracers of crystal upon his forearms and more growing from his upper arms.
He bowed to Gwyn before finding a location to seat himself and wait for her to begin instructing or asking questions. He was definantly older, and in much better physical shape.

"But... Daddy..." Nate's whining voice carried down the empty hallways leading to the classroom they'd been directed to. "I already had a class about it..."
Talner was tugging his teenage son (his hand was guarded by at least three potholders) down the hallway. "Yes, little buddy, I know. But this class will help you even more. Maybe you can learn how to control this thing."
Nathaniel frowned as he was forced along. He couldn't learn how to control it; he knew that already. He'd tried and tried, but he couldn't. He'd always be like this. No one would be able to touch him or get too close; he'd burn them all. He could see the sweat on his father's brow as the man endured the heat around the boy to get Nate to his class.
Finally, the pair found the room and Talner stopped, dropping the boy's hand. "Here we are! Go on in. I'll wait out here until your class is over..." With scooting motions, he urged the boy to open the door and enter.
Nate sighed as the door shut, cutting him off from his father until it was to be opened again. The teen almost wrenched it open and left the room, but he could tell that people were already in it. Turning, he spotted another boy about his age with strange things growing on him. And... there was a woman, probably the teacher.
Tugging his fireman jacket a bit apprehensively, the boy found a chair and started towards it before he realized it was plastic. He'd melt that... Nate looked around for something more durable before just taking a seat on the floor.

Gwyn eyed the two kids strangely before shaking her head. Placing her hands on her hips the woman glared at the two. "Allright. Since my esteemed colleague Dr. Smith has simply smushed the two of you together in here with me, I need to know what you want to learn and," Gwyn pointed at Nate, "what you already know."
She paused and glanced at Halycon. "Though really, since you've apparently grown since our last class you can start by telling me what you've learned since then." Gwyn arched an eyebrow at the teen waiting for his response.

Halcyon stands and nods his head, "I've learned how to condense the crystals and anchor them to my body, as well as to how to turn them into dust. What I want to learn is more finite control so I could use them in more detailed fashions such as artisan jewelry. I've also experimented with the concepts of using it as a weapon, possibly in dust form that's stringed together atomically to cause controlled internal damage." he gives Gwyn a bow before seating himself back down.

Nate glanced over at the odd boy for a moment. The "furnace" as Gwyn had dubbed him stayed where he was and spoke from the floor when Hal had finished. "Well, uh, I want to learn how to stop being hot... I had a class, but I still can't get it. I know how to cool myself down some, but it still makes it too uncomfortable for others..." Like his dad. "And I get really hot when I get upset..."

Gwyn nodded. Halycon was a simple extension of his prior class, refining the skills so to speak. At least the kid had good manners. Nate on the other hand, needed to relearn the basics if he couldn't even get it the first time. "Very well. Halycon, create a design, sculpt it in crystal as small as you can get it without loosing detail. I'll review your work and discuss it when you're done."
The woman advanced on Nate after that, "Nathaniel. Begin meditation and bring your temperature down as cool as you can."

Nate gulped a bit as Gwyn advanced on him. "Me-meditation?" The boy frowned. That sounded hard. "Uh... okay. I'll try..." Nate paused for a moment, unsure as to how he was supposed to start. Did he just close his eyes or... what?

Halcyon pulled a quartz out of his pocket and set it down on the table before him. He held his hands over it and closed his eyes, focusing purely on the particles and molecular structure of the crystal as he moved them slowly and one at a time. His whole intent was to replicate the other boy in the class, someone he was unfamiliar with.

Gwyn groaned quietly as it was obvious that the kid knew absolutely nothing about focusing his mind. "Sit quietly and empty your mind. If you absolutely can't empty it, focus on one thing. Perhaps a bucket of ice," she added dryly. "I'll be back." she said, though it came out as more of a threat than anything else.
The woman moved towards Halycon and watched him as he worked.

Halcyon ignored Gwyn's presence for the moment as he focused. The quartz becoming a blob that had a very vague human shape, slowly gaining definition. Eventually Hal stopped and sat back, trying to slow his breath. It looked kind of human...ish. He gave a sigh and glances at Gwyn, "Need to catch my breath and relax before I can continue."

Nate frowned, "Uh, okay..." He winced at the teacher's tone of voice and sighed, trying to empty his mind like the evil lady said. How did you empty your mind? This was hard. Oh wait, she'd said to think of just one thing and nothing else. Why had she said a bucket of ice? Was that supposed to help him cool down??
The boy tried focusing on a large ice cube, but other thoughts kept penetrating his mind. Finally, with some effort, he managed to focus on just a large ice cube, though the edges were a bit fuzzy to him.

Gwyn nodded. "Good, I'm glad you recognize that you need a break," she said dryly remembering their last class. Inspecting the work she nodded, "Good work so far."
Moving back to Nate she tapped him on the shoulder.

Halcyon closed his eyes and folded his hands as he breathed slowly, trying to relax and rest through meditation. Trying very hardly to get his body to calm down when it wanted to bounce and jump around.

Nate nearly jumped a mile into the air when Gwyn tapped him on the shoulder. The boy barely refrained from yelping as he looked up to see what the woman wanted. "Yes?" His voice did not mask his frustration well.
