Together the herd that had formed of Alysida, the star seeker, the two wild ones, the primadonna and himself had moved through the forest. He had taken the lead, of course, while Astoria had walked alongside Alysida to keep an eye on her. Dynatos had brought up the rear, keeping Tapanga quietly nestled in his mane, leaving Lady Luck to peace without the 'bug'.
It had been a long trek and they had stopped several times at his insistance so that Alysida could rest, but they had made it to the lake. They had found a safe place for everyone to rest; for Alysida to relax until it came time for the foals to arrive.
They came on a day when there had been a dip in temperature. He had worried until it was over, relieved to find that there had been two humans nearby; one of which had been watching them. She brought with her warm blankets and small baskets, whispering soft words of reassurance as he watched on protectively.
Two foals... Two baskets... They were in his care now, nearly a week after their arrival. The chill had left again, if only for the day, and Alysida had gone to stretch her legs. He had nestled down into her place, nudging each of the baskets gently before making himself comfortable, soon finding himself talking softly to the baskets.
"When you come out... You'll be just as safe as you are in there. You have an entire herd waiting for you... Along with your mother and I." He nudged the lighter of the two with his nose before resting his head against the darker one. "We'll keep you safe... You won't have any reason to fear."

She had watched Telikos for a bit while he spoke to the baskets. It was hear warming to watch him being fatherly. She had never thought she would see him in such a roll and even if the thought had crossed her mind it certainly wouldn't have featured her in the roll of mother. She had always assumed he would find some pretty girl who would swoon at his antics.
Moving quietly she walked up toward Telikos and their baskets. "They have a fine father to look out for them."

He straightened out slightly in an attempt to regain some of his dignity at being caught talking to baskets, slowly pushing himself up to his hooves. He turned his head towards Alysida, tail flickering behind them. "I... Was just making sure that they stayed warm while you were gone..."

She walked over and butted her head against Telikos' neck lightly. "You mean you were just cooing over them while you thought no one was looking." He should have known better than to try to tell her something different. There was no hiding the fact that he was both proud of them and worried that they'd be alright.

"Stallions do not coo." He snorted softly, giving his hair a toss that sent strands of golden mane fluttering against his neck before relaxing once more. "There is a break in the cold... I am not sure how long it will last."

"Really? Because i could have sworn that's what you were just doing." She laughed as she walked over and leaned down to nose the baskets. The break in the cold was a good thing. Hopefully the little ones would be able to take their first steps before the winter snapped back down on all of them

"Is that so?" His brow lofted slightly. "Then perhaps your ears are off if that is what you heard." He couldn't help but smirk as he gently nosed at her side.
His basket kept shifting and he didn't know why. The voices outside seemed louder than they usually were... The one had been soft and now even it was loud. How was he supposed to sleep like this? Huffing softly he nosed back at the side of the basket, trying to shift within it.

"My hearing is perfectly fine. You're just trying to cover your tracks unsuccessfully." She grinned and then looked down as she felt one of the baskets knock into her leg. Leaning down she nosed the lid of it gently. "See, even the little ones agree that you shoudn't argue with me"
Her ears flickered against her head as she listened to whatever it was that was going on outside. She recognized the one voice as the one that was always around but the second was different. She'd heard it before but never as close as it had been.

"As if tracks of mine would need covering." He lipped at her mane, giving it a light tug before directing his attention towards the baskets. "You... Don't think I bothered them, do you?" He had never seen foals come out of baskets before. By the time the ones from their former home had been brought to his attention they were all old enough to be worked into proper shape; nothing this small.
He gave his basket another nudge as the lid moved, stretching his legs before bumping his head against it. "..." That was a strange feeling. His nose wrinkled, eyes closing against the flash of brightness that had momentarily flooded his dark peace when he'd moved the lid.

"Arguing generally disturbs little ones" At least she had heard that it did. They had only been playing but it could have caught the attention of the foals. She shifted slightly and nosed the basket lid carefully off the dark basket while making sure that she was blocking most of the light from him.
She stuck her nose against the lid of the basket and pushed slightly. It was much colder out there than it was tucked away in her nice little bed and she wasn't all that sure she wanted to come out.

"Well... It does seem to bother Tapanga when there are arguments." Wrong sort of 'little ones', of course, but at least somewhere along the same lines... Mentally, maybe. He was still of the opinion that, somewhere, there was more to the little flutter than she let on.
He blinked as the lid shifted, holding his eyes tightly closed for a moment while expecting more of the bright, blinding light. When it struck him that it still seemed somewhat dark he opened them, silver eyes lifting until he saw a big, black nose. His eyes went wide as he leaned back, trying to figure out if there was any more to what was looking at him than nostrils.

"Hello darling." She spoke softly so that she wouldn't spook the foal as she leaned back a bit. He was such a beautiful little boy. "Tapanga isn't the sort of little one i was speaking of you know." She turned enough to look at Telikos for a moment.
When she got the lid high enough that she could blink out into the cold she noticed two huge things towering over what looked to be part of the same sort of thing she was in only there was something black in it not something like her.

"Close enough." She had temper tantrums just like a small foal and he sometimes had to speak to her as he would a child... Of course, now he would find out just how one was to speak to a child. Two of them were emerging into the world.
He blinked once more, eying the source of the softer of the two loud voices. What was this?
His nose wrinkled slightly as he shook his head, trying to push himself up onto wobbly legs. He managed to stand, swaying for a moment, before tumbling back down.
"Aly..." He glanced at the second basket as a small, white head topped with black mane peeked out. He froze, feeling his muscles tense. What was he supposed to do?

She laughed softly as the little colt tried to stand and tumbled back onto his rump. She leaned down and nudged him carefully back to his feet. He would wobble for a bit but maybe, just maybe, he'd at least be able to stand up.
She didn't like the bright all that much but it wasn't to bad. The feel of the air that wasn't inside her little home was worse than that.
She lifted her head as she heard Telikos say her name and noticed the other basket moving. "Well ... go make sure she's alright"

He held still for a moment before he was able to force his legs to do his bidding, moving his body towards the pale basket. He leaned down, breath warm as he gently nosed the little one's shoulder, mindful to keep his horn from poking her. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt one of them... They were so tiny.
He was standing again, this time spreading his legs a bit further in hopes that it would bring him some sort of balance. His tail swished slowly, brushing back against his legs which caused him to start, stumbling over his basket as he tried to bolt towards the large, black creature.
