The competition is now closed, massive congratulations to our winners!
Salutations all, and a happy new year!!
We thought it might be nice if we kicked off the year with a new and fabulous banner contest! The contest will have to categories: Still Banners, and Animated Banners. This will give people of all banner making skill levels a chance to join in. Guild members may have one entry in each category if they wish.
The winner of each category will receive 5000 gold, and the winner of the Still Banner category, will have their banner displayed as the official guild banner (not to be confused with the guild picture), on the guild page (until such time as we decide we would like to have another contest).
Entry will be open for two weeks (to give everyone plenty of time), the closing date will be Sunday, 27th Jan. On this date we will begin the voting process, which is how we will determine the winners. The voting time will depend on how many entrants we have, and will be advised on the 27th.
At the end of the contest, ALL entries will be available for use in any guild member's signature, but only the entry in each category with the most votes will receive a 5k prize.
Goodluck guildmates, let's get banner-making!!!

Can we make more than one? I'd like to try one for each category, because I can make the still at work and the animated at home. xd

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight...
The banner has to be 200 pixels x 40 pixels in order to fit in the space where it goes, so open up a new document and type in those sizes in whatever program you're gonna use.
Also be sure not to use any images that aren't royalty free or made by you. (You CAN use Gaia images from here or TekTek in a banner, though.)
Here are some free programs which have full versions or you can download a trial version of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or something else.

Ultimate Paint

The banner has to be 200 pixels x 40 pixels in order to fit in the space where it goes, so open up a new document and type in those sizes in whatever program you're gonna use.

I hadn't really thought about that -just assumed people would post them here, but I'm happy to have them sent in a pm, as long as we still have the working link and the pic, it's fine. I'm easy either way...whatever you guys would prefer!
