Because the other thread attempting a questionably serious political discussion was overrun by Captain Planet and feminists, I've decided to make a REAL thread, designated for the purpose of political discussion, debate, bitching, or what have you. So let's start by listing some rules, shall we? RULES1) Respect general MPRILC rules, which can be found HERE. 2) Don't be a b***h. You can b***h about things, that's fine. Just don't be a b***h about your bitching. (For the complete definition of "b***h" see: 2008 US Presidential Candidates. See also: the media. See also: my suitemates.) 3) If you know you're making a somewhat outlandish statement, cite sources so people don't think you're pulling things out of your a**. Please. 4) Even if you're not of legal voting age or don't live in the US, you can still participate. As long as you know what you're talking about, that is. 5) Buying/selling votes in exchange for Gaia gold, sex, penguins, or any other form of payment is prohibited. So don't make me rat on you to the silly Gaia mods. 6) Just...don't do anything stupid that will make me have to hate you. I already have enough people on that list. Play nice, children. (Why do I suddenly feel like I'm giving a nuke to 5-year-olds and saying, "Ok, kids. Just be home for dinner"?)

Assuming I can post:
Paul. Ron Paul. This guy seems to me the only REAL candidate out there. I don't know what it is, but I personally only see him to be the real person going for it. The others seem to me more like some pawns. Like the first time I saw Obama, I thought immediately of the anti-christ. Don't ask me why, because I dunno.
The others seem to just bicker and fight with each other, which in my opinion is the most 'un-leader of america' thing you can do. I mean if they can't keep their panties hiked out of their asses when debating with their own party members, how will they do when they face a leader of another country with completely differing morals, and ideas?
I can go on and on for days, but I'd really be saying nothing, because I honestly don't know too much about it all. Funny cause it's like my favorite topic. xD

It seems like it'll come down to who has the coolest celebrities backing them: and that will definitely be Huckabee and his good friend Mr. Chuck ********' Norris.
*But*, I am a registered Democrat and I had no idea that Kucinich was still a serious choice (way to jinx it... xd ). If he's still around in November I'll probably vote for him, because goddamnit, who would be better to run the United States than Dennis Kucinich?
Yes, I haven't mentioned anything about platforms or ideas because I honestly don't know what the ******** these people are on about. Every time they're on the television all I hear is "CHANGE CHANGE OPRAH CHANGE CHANGE OPRAH LIKES OBAMA CHANGE CHANGE HILLARY IS A MAN CHANGE CHANGE REPUBLICANS ONLY CARE ABOUT RICH WHITE PEOPLE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE!"
They all like to talk about change, but I really haven't heard anything about what kind of changes or how they're going to do it. Not that politicians tell the truth anyway. I still got a little over 10 months before I have to decide, and even then it probably won't matter because the electoral college makes a mockery of true Democracy.

personally i heard obama would bring religion to school (which im against) and the only things ive seen on television about him are Oprah backing him up.... which doesn't convince me.... the guy with chuck Norris seemed like a bad choice too, because chuck Norris should campaign in his place. XD ......... ......... ......... when you spell chuck Norris' name wrong on Firefox, it just says 'RUN!!' (couldn't resist)

They're all really just trying to shove the Bible further up America's proverbial (and literal) a**s then spit it back out of their mouth in the form of laws and "fresh ideas".
Except maybe Hillary...I'm pretty sure shes even pro-gay marriage.
Another thing o.0 what is wrong with people? They will vote for their label (dem/rep) just because thats what they are...
Sometimes I think if Hitler and Jesus were reborn and ran for president. Jesus being a democrat and Hitler being a republican, the republicans would vote for ******** Hitler over JESUS. Same goes for Democrats if it were the other way around.

Sorry, but seeing as how my boyfriend is a teacher at a public school, I just can't stand for that.

Jesus was kind of a jerk, sometimes, too.
However, if Jesus would hang out with me, I'd totally vote for him.

I don't believe in the political process. I believe people are far too distanced from the way their country is run for them to ever really decide anything.

Along with like 15 other little pointless government agencies. xD

Blind Guardian the 2nd I don't believe in the political process. I believe people are far too distanced from the way their country is run for them to ever really decide anything. Which is sad, really. Government is supposed to work for us, and all people care about today is their big sunglasses, and their starbucks. It kinda gives the gov. a little room to do whatever the hell they want.

I don't really like politics, either. All politicians are full of s**t. Period. It's not that people who aren't full of s**t don't try to run. They do. They just don't get very far. They don't see a need to put on that charming persona and bullshit their way through every debate. That's good, but it never gets them anywhere in politics. People don't want a nice leader. People want the illusion of things getting done.
Take John Edwards, for example. He's from North Carolina. I live in North Carolina. He's got that "sweet country boy" persona that everyone knows and loves combined with that "we gotta get s**t done" side of things. A lot of people like John Edwards. What they don't know, however, is that he's an arrogant a*****e. I've met him. We took a trip to DC when I was in the 6th grade (2002, I think), and when we were in some random building, John Edwards walks by. He hears from someone that we're from NC, and he comes over to greet us. Long story short, we get a picture with him. He shakes a few hands and says to the group, "Give this photo to your mom and dad for safe keeping. That way, when I'm president, you'll have a picture with me."
Of course that was before the 2004 election when he was still in the presidential campaign. I laughed my a** off when Kerry chose him for VP, and again when they didn't get elected.
A kid straight from the Bible belt running my country? ******** no. I'll disown my country before I stand for that. It'd be like someone from my rich-a** private high school getting elected.

Yeah, that's basically what I was trying to say, you just said it like 800 times better xD
It seems like all those other candidates are acting and their somehow leading in the race. Whilst all the seemingly real candidates fall behind or drop out. I don't get it myself. How can the people not see right through all that acting? I mean almost every question they get, they will not answer. Seriously, watch the next debate and see that they'll 'put it into context' or just answer with 'a more important question'. If you ask for a simple no, they give you the goddamn gettysburg address.
