A white lion moved down from his den, following the sounds of hoovesteps that seemed to guide him anywhere. "Where are we going?" He asked to the one he could not see, knowing he probably wouldn't get an answer. After all, the little familiar never was one to talk. In fact, Kipofu didn't even know her name. All he could figure out was she was a smaller creature, and one of the prey that he was probably suppose to hunt, but the white adult could never bring him to kill such a kind creature. After all, she was helping him manuever through the grassy plains of the pridelands.
"Can you at least motion in the direction we are going, so I can figure it out?" He asked, ears flickering to catch any sounds of those around. All her heard was the shuffling of footsteps: his and hers.

A dark form moved across the land, silent, or at least he hoped he was. Silence was an art, one he had been trying to perfect since his coming into adolescence. For a hunter, it was key. For a hunter who stood out starkly against anything he tried to sneak in, silence was its own deity, requiring strict discipleship and ever-devoted worship.
Something was moving. Hoping for a chance to try himself, he paused. His golden eyes narrowed in disbelief. One of his own species, someone older than he, was following something that was lower on the foodchain, something... well, food, to put it bluntly. He had to investigate. Ngigi snuck after the other lion, trying to keep as quiet as he could. Maybe he could try and scare some sense into the other male. That ought to be worth at least a laugh.

The greenishblue klipspringer sensed something and instantly stopped. Being one low on the food chain, she had to move with caution everytime, even if she had an adult male lion with her at all times. Her eyes gazed around for any sight of life, catching glimpse of a lime green mane sneaking towards them. Her eyes were keen, and she knew danger was about to happen.
With a squeal, the adult Klip hopped behind Kipo, quivering in fear.
The ears on te lion perked forward as he heard the little klip hide behind him, terrirfied and shaking like a leaf. "What is it?" He asked quietly, lifeless eyes searching the black void of nothingness.
"Who's there, adn what do you want?" He asked in a questioning manner. It was not of a harsh tone, but more of a please say something kind of language.

Spotted. Sighing he stood all the way up, prepared to be in trouble for sneaking after someone. When the other lion did not turn to where the klipspringer had yelped at, Ngigi's attention was caught. At the other's question, he relaxed slightly. That wasn't the voice of someone about to bring imminent danger to him.
"I am Ngigi. I was," he paused, thinking of how to go on, "curious about you, friend." Standing his ground, prepared to flee should he need to, the black lion watched the other carefully.

The Klipspringer shook her head, wanting to hide underneath her charge so badly. But she wasn't a child anymore, and Kipo wasn't tall enough to hide her. Instead, she just dealt with trying to conceal the form behind the white body. If she couldn't see him, then they couldn't see her!
"Ngigi" he repeated, placing the name to the voice to be forever placed in his memory. His attention turned towards the Klip, ears perking forward as if to shield her from the other. "She's not for eating." He said shortly afterwards, ears pinned back slightly. He didn't want to lose the only form of comfort he had.
"She's afraid of you. Lions like us kill her species..." He said slowly. "What do you want to know?" He said, his light blue eyes scanning for the voice of Ngigi.
"I am Kipofu'Bakhti. Just Kipo my family calls me though." He didn't know many other lions. Only his family.

Inside, he laughed slightly at the lion's insistance on the life of his friend. "Very well. I shall not eat her. You have my word." He was no longer afraid, and thought about the white lion's question. Well, even if this had started with no intention of getting answers, he did have one question now. "Why won't you look at me, Kipofu'Bakhti?"
It wasn't intended to sound cruel, though he supposed afterwards that it might have the slightest off sound to it. Ngigi winced slightly, hoping his questiong wouldn't be taken the wrong way. A pleasant encounter need not be ruined accidently.

Aha, there it was. He looked towards the sound of the voice, staring him dead in the eye. Too bad he couldn't see him. He wished for the gift of sight since he knew he couldn't see. All his siblings could, but he was left in the blackness he was born into. His father told him why he couldn't have vision, and frankly, Kipo thought that was just wrong. "I..." he didn't know how to answer.
I'm blind? Well...that would be rude on his part, and probably make the other lion feel bad for asking. With a shrug, the male looked away, causing his 'eyes' to pop forward.
The little klip whose name has yet to be said, peeked underneath the male, motioning towards the adult's eyes. Hopefully, the black male would grasp the concept of what the female deer was trying to tell him, to follow the scars that laid sacredly across his chocolate marking face.

The white lion's dead eyes sent chills down his spine. With confirmation from the klipspringer's motions, Ngigi winced again. "Oh. Forgive me, please." He thanked the stars that the klipspringer had seen him. If he'd scared Kipo...
He stared at the ground guiltily, shoulders slumped. He might as well have gotten in trouble, the way his conscience had begun to nag at him.

"Don't sweat it." The male said, smiling softly. "I mean, you didn't know, and neither do many others. I've been this way since I was a few hours old I've been told." Kipo shrugged. "That's why I hang around this Klip" He motioned the little girl forward, who retaliated in response. Kipo frowned at the behavior of his guide, shaking his head in an apology. "She'll get use to others soon. I call her Lonny, but she has never said her true name to me." Kipo grinned. "I figured if I give her a wrong name, she'd say something, but has yet to." He laughed.

Ngigi pushed his conscience back to being just an annoying voice, largely ignored. He made a decision without realizing it, causing himself to feel slightly better than dirt, as he had but a moment before. There was no reason he couldn't treat Kipo like anyone else. No surprise pounces, no roughhousing, but like everyone else. "Lonny? Bit of an odd name. Can she even speak?" He lowered his head to peer better at the klipspringer, blowing upwards as his bright green mane sunk into vision.

Kipofu shrugged. "I think I've heard someone mention that name before, and when I heard it, I ran into her. So I've called her it since I can remember." He said cheekily. "I bet she can..." He murmured, pushing the klip towrds Ngigi. "She just doesn't like to." He nodded. "But one day, she will. When she is in trouble, or when I am." He siad confidently, turning his voidless eyes to the green color deer infront of him.
"Who is your family?" Kipo asked. "What are tehy liked?" He always liked hearing about others, especially their mothers. It made him get thoughts of how his mother might have been.
'Lonny' (because I can not remember her name atm) tripped as she tried to stop Kipo from pushing her forward. When her attempts were fultile, she shook her head, shaking before the black male.

"It does sound nice," he remarked. "Has she ever?" What a pair that would be, he thought, a blind lion being led by a mute guide. He supposed they could be a lot worse off: separated.
"I am the son of Na'ilah and Mika'il, with too many siblings to name. My family's nice enough." His tail twitched absently as he looked at Lonny.
"You don't have to be afraid of me. I'm as good as my word, little Lonny."

Kipo shook his head. "Nope. At least, not that I've heard. I don't think I am going deaf..." Oh boy, wouldn't that be bad. No sight and no sound! Boy there would be no reason to live then. He sighed, that thought just made him worry. Best to change the subject.
"Na'ilah...Mika'il..." Those names didn't sound familiar what so ever. Perhaps this meant it was time for the boy to get out more. "Too many siblings?" He couldn't help but laugh. "Sounds like my family. I have eight just in one litter, and then before me, I don't even know." He laughed quietly. "My family is pretty big though." He said, nodding. "Too many names to familiarize with, so I try to stay around the felines I would meet on a daily basis."
Lonny looked towards Ngigi, shaking her head. Could she trust the male? Cautiously stepping forward, her curious eyes gazed into his, before she suddenly licked at his nose.
"She trusts you." Kipo laughed.

At the older male's sigh, Ngigi's ears perked up, as if trying to hear something that wasn't there. Poor lion. "I'm sure you aren't. I don't think the world is that cruel to any creature who doesn't deserve it, which I'm sure you don't."
"My parents had two litters, one before me which had quite a few," of the number he was not certain, "and then mine which had... five?" That sounded right, but he wasn't sure. "Hopefully you won't forget mine." The male was nice and would surely be grateful for the company? Ngigi was not sure.
He had not been paying attention to Lonny for a moment, and when she licked his nose, he crossed his eyes to look at her before sneezing. "I guess so."

"That's a good sign you know," Kipo smiled, stretching his adult form on the ground. "If she doesn't trust another, then it's almost impossible for me to trust them." Kipo said, flicking in ear idly towards Ngigi. No longer was he worried about Ngi hunting down Lonny. He had no reason to be anymore. "Seems like life is full of big litters this generation, isn't it." At this, he laughed. That's what Africa needed. More lions, less food. Scarcity was all around them.
Lonny grinned, hopping around the black adolescent pridelander before yawning herself, and laying on the ground inbetween the two males. She had had a long day, now, she thought, it was time for a little nap.
