Oh yes, her mother was going to freak! It had taken days and days of hard work to construct, but finally Nissa's headdress was complete and the pink and white feathers splayed beautifully down her neck. She felt bigger, bolder and oh so rebellious!
She had hidden her little stock of feathers away from her mother's den, away from the Bahari'mtoto borders where she wouldn't get caught - as Ivie had decided to hunt her down every time she ran off now.
Didn't mother realise that chasing her around, forbidding her from going far and forcing her to play those stupid pretence games was only forcing her daughter away?
Nissa did not want to be ruled and she certainly did not want to be told what to do!
The black and blue female sidled up through te grass, holding her head proudly. Included in her 'new look' was a various amount of piercings, some in her ear, one in her eyebrow and one in her lip. Oh she was looking fiersome!

Hai, some yards away, and handily hidden by a tall copse of grass the same color as her fur, watched the young lioness with a mixture of amusement, and bewilderment.
Was that tall assortment of feathers on her head supposed to be a mane? Some kind of ritual headdress, maybe? One thing was certain, it put Hai's vulture skull to shame so far as style went. Of course, Hai wouldn't give the skull up for an entire herd of lame wildebeest. The necklace, crude though it may be, was the symbol of an understanding between her and the nation of vultures. As long as Hai had it on, no vulture would bother her at the hunt, or when she was sleeping. A necessity since she was often mistaken for a corpse.
Perhaps, the headdress was the same for the lioness? But what was it protecting her from? Flamingos?
Curiosity getting the better of her, Hai emerged from her screen of grass to approach the adorned lioness. She did her best to look non-threatening, a bit tough considering Hai's large size, and formidable scars.
"That's a neat...um, headdress? Mane?" she called out. "Well, whatever it is, it's certainly interesting."

A look of surprise was brief on Nissa's face. She wasn't scared easily, and though the female was indeed large looking, Nissa had it in her head that she was just as scary. She paused, brought her front paws together and lifted her head high.
The piercings, still new in her flesh, hurt more than she had expected, the one in her lip and brow had swollen slightly though the ones in her ear looked quite fine.
"Thank you." She replied, pleased. The headdress was certainly doing it's job! "It's very special." She continued. "Because it was created for a specific purpose and apparently does that purpose quite well." She smiled, eyeing up the female. Her eyes fell from her oddly coloured pelt to the necklace hanging at her neck. Some sort of trophy? Either way, it made quite an impression on the young lioness who had found only mice and birds in her claws.
"And you, it seems, have quite a treasure yourself." She smiled. "I like your style." Her tail flicked high and then she stepped back, one forepaw curling under her stomach, whilst the other one remained extended. She bowed her head. "I am Nissa, Queen of the rebels."
