Of the many bands that I just really can't get enough of, The Hives stand out for me because any band who has managed to stay off the radar as much as they have despite their rather mainstream sound has my respect and admiration. However, when I started listening I was honestly expecting more of the same Hives sound, and while that stays true with some aspects of their songs, something worth noting is that their lead singer "Howlin'" Pelle Almqvist has seemingly toned down his vocals as in this new album he seems to be actually singing as opposed to his earlier stuff where he did just as his nickname implies, probably to prolong his vocal career. No matter the reason, it is refreshing and enjoyable as the man has a very unique voice.

As for the other members, they stick to what they can do best which is take a fairly simple song style but weave it between each other and the vocals in the most enjoyable way. Songs like Tick Tick Boom sound pretty classic to the Hives style, but other songs like Giddy Up and Well All Right have a pretty fresh sound to them.

Overall this album is very enjoyable, while not outstanding like other recent albums, but is certainly not one to over look. Any Hives fan will love this album, and anyone looking for some neo-British-esq-rock will find something in this album that will get you tapping their toe or rocking the air guitar.
