After meeting the stray slave Aten had decided that his life as he knew it would change forever, he changed his name, now he was Ten, never again to be Aten, and even then he decided that he might further change his name. The earth toned red lion had for his entire existence worshipped the pride that he came from, not the Maziko, but the firekin's blood ran through him. Ten started his journey as a juvenile, and realized that it ended long into his adulthood, he was not old, but he was not as young as he felt.

Ten ran, the taunt muscles beneath his pelt clearly visible, running to? He was not sure, but running from seemed like a good thing to focus on, the crazy lions of his heritage were certainly a motivational tool. He was far from them now, but he could not stop running.

He was near exhaustion as he slowed and limped letting out whimpering sounds as he moved, he would be easy prey for any predator at this moment. He was in need of a savior, someone to tell him to stop, but he would pass out tonight, and wake tomorrow and run again. The moon was high in the sky and he limped around a watering hole.

( Wow, that was long and spacey.if it makes no sense, let me know, eh?)

The day was slowly coming to a close. The sun was drifting into the horizon, soon to disappear and bring night upon them. Both Roho and Senatla were falling asleep, leaving Kamaria to fight her thoughts off on her own. While she was in the company of great friends, she still felt alone when night came. In her mind, she could not escape her past memories, or forgive the broken promises that her mother had made.

Lifting her weary form, Kamaria released a short sigh. Her ears were lowered and her tail was pulled tight to her body for both warmth and comfort. A part of her felt guilty for her own feelings. How could she worry about her past when her present was so satisfying? Kamaria had nearly everything she wanted from life.. but answers. And sadly her answers were the one thing she would never be able to find.

Leaving the sides of her friends, Kamaria began towards the nearby watering hole. The group had paused intentionally near the water source. When they woke, they could refresh themselves and begin again on their journey. Kamaria neared the water and bent down to drink, unknowing of the male so nearby. Only when she lifted her head did she spot the panting red male.

The earthy red male froze and watched the female as she walked towards the watering hole, and continued to watch as she took a drink, as she reaised her eyes to look at him he looked away quickly hoping she had not noticed him staring. So used to the Firekin and their heated tempers he feared she would be offended by his interest. Breaking his silence he stepped towards her trying his hardest not to limp.

"I..I am Ten," he said in a hoarse voice, "I didn't mean to stare...I just.." his voice feel short as he struggled for words to say to her. How could he explain that it had been sometime since he saw a free lion? Especially one that did not share the reds and blacks of his ancestors. He smiled weakly, dropping his eyes and lowered his head ears peeled back to show his fear and that he was not a threat, or dominant, if she wanted she could take control of the situation.

When Kamaria had looked up, she noticed the male quickly glance away. She was surprised to find that no words left her maw when she attempted to speak. Again, so busy in her thoughts, the female had been unable to sense another nearby. Kamaria worried about this, feeling as though she made herself too vulnerable when she took her evening strolls away from her friends.

By the look of this male, he seemed passive enough, but what if she had wandered upon the territory of more violent rogues? When he introduced himself in a stutter, Kamaria found herself even more lost for words. Her first guess about the male had been far more correct than she thought. He was certainly passive.

Like she had opened up to her two friends, Kamaria found something about this male inspire her. He seemed lost, troubled and in dire need of company, or at least some positive conversation. Taking a more comfortable seat, the lioness smiled as warmly as she could, "And I am Kamaria.. do not worry for looking.. I might have done the same had you walked up to me without knowing.." Kamaria felt a blush to her cheeks.

He took in her size, small, not even as large as most of the rogues he had past, he was quite large and probably looked very foolish seeming so passive to someone smaller. He smiled more brightly as she responded with kindness.

"I havn't talked to many recently, not since.." Since what, Aten, what are you really going to tell this female? He thought to himself and pushed his negative thoughts away, "I started running." He probably looked horrible and felt heat rise to his face in a blush, he had been running so much and eating very little, from sweating so much his fur clung in awkward places and stuck up at random points.

He kept his head low still, but straightened his ears and posture looking at her, she was quite pretty, he had never encountered a female that looked qite like her, Ten's amber eyes shifted as he tried hard not to stare but was failing miserably.

Once a conversation stemmed between the two of them, Kamaria found that she was able to really get a good look at who she was speaking with. Having been so surprised by his presense earlier, she did not even notice how large the male was.

Kamaria's mother had told her a great many stories of the surrounding prides and slowly she began to recollect them. One of the boldest of these stories was of the Firekin. There was a large hatred between the Mistweaver's and the Firekin and Kamaria always found that this feud confused her.

As Aten continued to speak, Kamaria simply nodded and tried to offer some comfort and respect. The male looked rather much like a rogue, despite his size and he seemed thin. If she was judging correctly, it did not appear that the meal had eaten for days. Running, she thought. From what? And with a shake of her head, the lioness thought it was better simply not to ask.

"Well, a good conversation can help anyone on their travels.. I hope that I might assist you.." Kamaria's voice was friendly and warm. And when Aten blushed, she felt her own cheeks heat up. Did she make him uncomfortable?

Aten probably would not have told a stranger what it was he was running from, he was afraid of so many things that were behind him now, how he never found his mother, how the world that he was told was so amazing turned out to be such a grave disappointment, no he probably would never tell anyone of all of that. The earthy red male sighed heavily and sat close beside her, possibly taking over her personal space completely; he was socially awkward and did not know how to handle others well.

"A friendly voice..I.." He sighed again, "I've been traveling for a very long time, hearing you is a god send, someone kind." He murmured to her and looked up at her warmly.

Kamaria felt her body shiver lightly when Aten came so close to her. She felt a great desire to distance herself, but upon looking at him again, kept herself still. He seemed so pained and reminded her a great deal of herself upon the shore of the ocean pride's territory. She had been cold to those who approached her, too hurt by her past to accept that the friendly faces were indeed just that. They had wanted to help and yet she couldn't put her pride aside. She had put so much faith in her mother.

This male, though she did not know his story, seemed as though he couldn't simply be left alone. The way he spoke about her company seemed as though what he spoke was entirely true. How could Kamaria have handled being alone all those months on the shore? With a smile that showed her worry towards him, the lioness offered a friendly nuzzle and kept close. "I have a small group of travelers and we would be more than open to accepting additional companions. We hunt together and share the spoils equally. We have no leader."

He sighed again heavily, his chest heaving as he did so. Just having a friendly voice did him wonders, and having her speak to him calmed down all the worry and anxiety he had been harboring that day, he was positive he would drop and not be able to continue onward.

"Traveling? Where too? I can hunt, I have spent much of my time alone and I had to learn, Kamaria, sorry to be so..so needy to you, after all you are such a stranger." He resisted the urge to step back, especially since she had nuzzled him. Aten had not felt another lion's presence this close since his cubhood and that made his socially awkwardness all the more apparent.

He weighed the pros and cons within his mind, it was very unlikely that they had a firekin within their little group, especially since Kamaria was not the red color or as big as a firekin, would another firekin wander the lands like he did? He assumed only if they were running as well, and that might not be a bad thing. Companionship would be a pro, certainly he needed someone to help him with his social skills, and possibly he could find a home through traveling, somewhere completely unlike the grave yard or the sands.

Like with Senatla, Kamaria felt a strange connection with the male. They were all wanderers, either escaping or avoiding their pasts in which they never spoke of. While they were each of unique blood line, they were a family, each one contributing their strengths and being supported on their weaknesses. Kamaria could not imagine life without both Roho and Senatla beside her. She could only hope that she might help this male as well. No lion deserved such a pained existance.

While a part of Kamaria still wished to move aside and regain her personal space, the lioness truly enjoyed feeling needed. She had depended so much on her mother that it felt like a release to have the tables switched. Unlike her mother, however, she would not let these lions down. They were her friends, whether or not they started as strangers. "If we did not greet strangers, we would never meet anyone new. How may I change from a stranger, to someone you may trust?"

Aten commented of being needy of Kamaria and the lioness could not comment on the matter. She did not find the male to be needy, as he spoke of, but simply in need of company. If he had been running for as long as he said, she couldn't imagine why he wouldn't be.

He rolled her words over in his mind, realizing that she never answered his question, he wanted to know where they were headed, and why. A group of traveling strangers could turn out to be quite the dangerous thing.

"Is there anyone among you...as..as large as me? Or that looks like me?" he questioned her and stepped away from her, his amber eyes glancing up into her lovely violet ones. If there was another of his kind among them he would run away quickly not wanting to be recognized for what he was.

"I've got..some trouble in my past, you'd be willing to look past that?" he murmured still trying to maintain eye contact.

When Aten asked whether or not there was anyone in their current group that looked like him, it didn't occur to mention that Senatla was of similar shade. They were both built so differently. "Large.. hmm. Roho is larger than Senatla and I, but that isn't too uncommon for male lions. I'd say you're the biggest of the group for sure." Kamaria smiled, but was curious as to why he might be concerned with that tidbit.

At the mentioning of a troubled past, Kamaria's smile faded, but she remained with a warm expression. "I believe that is why we all travel, Aten. Each one of us has a past that we wish to grow stronger from. I know I have nothing but the future to look to now."

The cold of the night's air felt comforting to Kamaria's pale pelt. While she wished to keep their conversation much longer, she nudged forward, as though to suggest they begin traveling, "We are a bit of a walk from here. We should start off before the sun comes up and they worry. In the morning we'll continue on. No particular destination. We simply seek to learn more and hopefully find a place to call our home.."

He inhaled sharply at the thought of another as large as him and quickly let it out as she burst the thought, he would be the largest, that was slightly reassuring to him, he was not a large firekin, but large by rogue standards. He looked to her his eyes sharp and alert.

"I'll probably be slow," he murmured, "I..I'm limping, but it wont be too much of a slow down, I reassure you..I know this seems odd but can I..can I stick close to you? I don't know them?" His eyes shifted downward in shame, he was weary of travelers and yet he allowed her to take him in so easily. He stood pulling completely away from her and his legs locked stiffly, he would only be able to make it so far before sleep took him and his muscles could rest. His eyes still cast downward he waited for her to lead the way.

Kamaria had already begun to lead the way when she heard Aten's plea. Turning her head to look him over, she felt almost ashamed of herself. How could she urge this male to travel so far while he was clearly not entirely fit for the long walk? With a faint smile, he lioness paused and spoke gently, "Of course you can walk beside me. I understand how difficult it may be to meet new lions.. And I promise, we can stop the moment you're tired. So long as we're closer, I am sure they won't worry too much. In the morning, we can continue on until we find them."

The lioness hoped that this was a worthy answer and continued on to lead the way, only when Aten seemed ready.

Aten made a content noise something along the lines of a sigh and sped up his pace to walk beside her following her back to her travelling companions, he wondered what they would be like. What type of friends would a lion of such kindness have?

He followed in silence and exhaustion hoping that the walk was indeed not that far and that she would really stay as kind as she seemed, and that her friends would not be harmful.
