During her time with Ezekiel, she'd learnt how socialise, especially with males. However, she was now quite a bit nervous, as she hadn't really socialised with anyone older and male, apart from 'Zeki. She figured she should just act how she did when she met him.
It wasn't like she expected to meet anyone, sure, there were lots of lions around, but she wasn't going to go and make the first move. She'd stayed near to the den, just in case she got nervous and wanted to ask 'Zeki for help, though she wasn't even sure if he was in at the moment. Relaxing a little, she convinced herself she wasn't going to meet anyone and stretched out, lounging happily in the midday sun.

A pale lion walked jerkily in the midday heat, his joints stiff from sleeping in a place that was not his home, he had been wandering a lot lately, which wasn't really anything new, since birth Kubwa had wandered away, but this was one of the few times he had since Tetemeko's birth, but now his little cub was nearly an adult and it seemed that for the most part his work was done on the raising, sure Tete probably had questions but Kubwa knew they'd come in time.
Even with the stiff joints Kubwa was in a faily decent mood and was eager to strike up a conversation, his brown eyes scanned the area for any lions, not coming up with someone just yet he continued walking and looking.

She saw a light lion walk through the grasses, and in the haze of the sun, if his mane had not been as pure as his coat, she would have mistaken him for her father. Oh no.. He was headed this way. What would she do? Would he strike up a conversation, the chocolate lioness sprung up to walk towards the den, which was just a little north, but it was too late, he was already close. Swallowing her nerves she decided it would be foolish to run away. Mia had only been this nervous since the "lesson" with 'Zeki. Since she knew what she had to live up to. Right, okay. Be yourself.
"Hello!" She called out, with a wide smile.

The pale lion jumped slightly, not expecting to find someone so soon and turned towards the voice. He recoiled inwardly at seeing a lioness, he was hoping for a male friend, females...they were bad luck, too many bad experiences makes guy weary of the opposite sex.
Sticking to his values, Kubwa could never be rude, "Hello there! Lovely day isn't it?" He said cheerfully and closed the short distance between them. He sized the chocolate female up hoping she was not a threat.

Oh, had she scared him. Looking nervous, Mia smiled gently. "I'm sorry if I scared you..." She looked him over. He was around her age, had a nice pelt and seemed generally friendly. This made the situation all the more nervewracking, but she relaxed. There was no harm in making plently of friends, it's not like you had to sing and dance to them. She continued, her maroon eyes shifting from the floor to meet his gaze. "What's your name?" She inquired politely.

"Oh, no, no, you just caught me off guard," he answered politely and gave her a quick nod. As she looked up his smile grew wider, she seemed very nervous around him and he quickly wanted to put that to rest, besides shouldn't he be nervous around her? She after all was a she, he chuckled inwardly at his train of thought and felt like sharing his ideas, but for now kept them inside.
"I am Kubwa, may I ask your name?" he stepped forward slightly and bobbed his head, the head bobbing was something he indvertantly picked up from his mother and was a very odd thing to see on any lion, but especially odd on one with a mane.

"Oh, I see." She relaxed a bit more, as he seemed quite nice and polite after all. Kubwa. That was his name. She often wondered what other peoples names meant, as she had a rather questioning and curious nature at times, but she knew it may be rude to ask, so refrained from doing so. After all, they may not even know. She did not know the meaning of hers, after all. Her father had told her it had something to do with numbers when she was small, and after she asked what they were, she became hooked on sums and counting. It was rather strange at times. She stifled a giggle at his odd gesture, which she found rather sweet. She bowed her own head too, out of manners. "My name is Mia."

"Nice to meet you," he paused, "to be honest at all, you make me slightly nervous, females, especially pretty ones, are usually bad omens for me." he gave her an apologetic look and then dropped his gaze from her face. If he heard her speak of sums and numbers he would be very lost, he was never taught to do simple arithmetic, he knew adding on instinct and subtracting, but anything else would prove mind boggling. He would have gladly told her the meaning of his name, and possibly the story if she had asked, but she did not.
"I don't mean to make you uncomfortable by my statement," he added as an after thought.

He was nervous, just like her! She cocked her head at his reasoning, and wondered what had happened to make him believe that females were bad omens. "Don't worry" She said soothingly. "I find males a little intimidating, because apart from family members, I've never really came into proper social contact with one." Pausing, her eyes shifted from him to the horizon for a moment, and her curious nature and urge to learn got the better of her. "What made you believe that females are bad omens?" Mia asked gently.

"No need to be nervous, I'm harmless, ask my son," he joked happily and sat down beside her. How am I going to explain this, he thought to himself wondering exactly how much he would like to tell, he decided not much, maybe if they talked another time he would reveal everything, but for now, Kubwa was going to keep his secrets.
"Well, one thing is that my mother always wanted girls, and her first litter wa my brother, Kipanya, and I, no girls. She treats the new babies different, they're both female," he did the head bob-thing again. "I've also had bad luck with falling in love and then girls run, do you think it's the nice guy thing?" He joked and winked at her.

She calmed a little, but then her eyes widened at the mention of a son. "Oh you have a son, how wonderful!" She smiled gently. She listened to his story politely, nodding her head at the appopriate places until he had finished. "I see..." She pulled a sad smile to sympathize with him. "I'm sure they just don't realise what they're missing out on." Poor Kubwa, Love wasn't fair was it? Well for her, it was simply a stranger, but hearing from stories, she knew how painful it could be. "I'm sure everything will work out in the end."

"I wouldn't say he's my little cub anymore, he's nearly bigger than me now," Kubwa smiled, he did not want to meet a new person and leave his problems with them as a burden, "I hope things will work out in the end, for now I'm happy to see Tetemeko, that's my son's name, go on and prosper, if love comes I'm very blind to see it." He smirked and felt an urge to do something silly to take the sad smile off of her face.
"You said you have a family? Then you live in the pride? I only ask because so many new comers come my way and I have to point them in the right direction often," he'd shown many people the way to go, and enjoyed doing so, he often thought of asking the royal family if he could have a title like 'patrol lion' but he never had the chance.

"That's lovely." She blurted. Mia would love to see her family go on and propser, as Kubwa has put it. At his question she smiled again, it was something she did to ease her nerves, but thinking about her family did make her happy. "Well," the chocolate lioness started. "I do have a loving family, as in a large family with about.. 13 brothers and sisters." She laughed quietly. "But I don't have a family of my own to care for, but I love my father and siblings dearly."
She hadn't seen some of her siblings in ages, hopefully, that would change, as she would make an effort to visit everyone. Well, everyone it was possible to get to.

The pale lion's brown eyes widened and he made a sort of squeaking sound, "THIRTEEN? How did you manage? I'm jealous at my age when my mother starts to tell me I should be more like Kip!" he laughed full heartedly, she was an interesting new acquaintance that was for sure. He thought about his jealousy about when the girls were born and fire burned in his cheeks, he really needed to get away from home a bit more, make more friends, possibly find his own den.
"I mean, it's amazing, especially if you get all along, very heartwarming," he added truthfully.

She giggled. "Well quite a few of them are older and have gone elsewhere, and one of them is, dead, and I never got to meet her." She said sadly, but she pressed on. "Yes, I was born into a litter of eight, and got along with them all fairly well." She was glad of this. "Aw, don't be jealous, you seem nice enough yourself." Mia admitted. Her maroon eyes relaxed and they slid breifly from Kubwa to the beautiful african scenery, before back to the white lion again. After asking 'Zeki, she was wary about how much she could ask a stranger, so decided to ask a general and polite question question. "So, what do you like to do?"
