Please don't rape the emote panel. Nor the "!" key. Thnx
I doubt they have animal control in Korea. They are doing that because that is 'their culture' and the product of a society that sees animals as objects for food, transport, or pleasure. Here in America we enjoy killing for pleasure (fishing and hunting), and all sorts of things that Koreans would probably shake their heads at.
So, the problem starts at the very roots of 'their culture'. That's where you want to aim your feelings. Not necessarily the individuals themselves. And just because it it a cultural thing doesn't mean to have to respect or support it. wink

eek Whoa, that's deranged. I think it says something about a person's state of mind when they get enjoyment out of something like that. Eating horses is one thing torturing them is a whole different thing.
Just because it is part of their "culture" doesn't make it right! (In fact, this is not part of their culture. It would have to be a tradition, which means it has been going on for generations and generations. This is a fad.Either way it should not be acceptable.)

Maze353 Just because it is part of their "culture" doesn't make it right!
I was trying to say that. There are many, many things that peoples do that are inhumane and sick (female genital mutilation is one that first springs to mind), that people are trying to dismiss due to the whole 'culture' thing. Well, if it's their tradition, fine, but then I have every right to disdain and withdraw my support for those nations.

It's not part of their culture! The raising of the horses is part of their culture, not horse fighting. The man responsible just recently came up with this "sport". It's very cruel and it's horrible to raise a horse to kill the other. And then they kill the one who doesn't one for not being brutal? Come on, people, this is not cultural. If they stopped, sure people would be angry for a while, but if you watch the video, the crowd is not big. Spanish bull fights are cultural, the crowds are huge and there are STADIUMS for those. Bull fights have been going on for centuries. These horse fights take place in nothing but large round pens and are VERY recent. The idiot who created these horse fights should be behind bars if my opinion counts.

Dragon_Element93 It's not part of their culture! The raising of the horses is part of their culture, not horse fighting. The man responsible just recently came up with this "sport". That video was made June 1999- that's almost 10 years ago. The video is disturbing. Other cultures DO eat horse meat- the US used to eat it too until horses became "pets". (Haflingers almost became extinct during WWII b/c they were being eaten...) The US needs to decide if horses are LIVESTOCK or if they are PETS. The price of feed/hay is driving people into desperation- especialy people who get into breeding to make $$$. There are free and starving horses everywhere. Older horses kept on small properties are being kept alive out of selfishness when they should be put down. Some places have banned burial of livestock (horses) on private property so there is no where to bury a carcass when the animal dies....slaughter is outlawed and horses are being crammed onto trucks, shipped to Mexico- the point being, there is cruelty everywhere and it stems from people trying to "save" the poor horses. There is no planning.

What a f*cking disgrce.I could only watch about 2 minutes before being forced to close the window out of oncoming sickness.
Why is it that people think this is right!?
Why is it that animals such as horses, cattle and even cocks (make chickens) are made fight and many people convince themselves it is right because it wouldn't be going on if it wasn't. WAKE UP AND SEE THAT FAMILIES, EVEN BABIES AND CHILDREN ARE BROUGHT UP TO UNDERMINE THE IMPORTANCE OR ANIMALS' NEEDS AND THAT THEY ARE EQUAL TO HUMANS IN SO MANY ASPECTS, IN SOME THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT, EVEN THE REASON WE ARE HERE TODAY! sweatdrop scream

It does seem like a strange for culture, and if they just previously came up with it, then it must not be their culture.

I don't care if someone says that i'm ethnocentric... Making horses fight for fun anywhere is wrong, no matter what your culture says is right or wrong...
Those horses you see sometimes fight to their death or they usually get injuries so bad that they have to be put down.
