O.k. I Play Bass Clairnet, [ It's names Trinket F.Y.I. ], and I can't play Jazz Band next year on Clairenet/Bass.

On Monday we choose our classes for next year. I Really Wanna be in Jazz Band.

Well, Make it short, I wanna learn Bari Saxophone so I can play in Jazz.
Play Bari [Named Berre] for Jazz, Trinket for Normal.

But 'Rents arn't wanting to pay rent for both. And Paying for Bari Lessons.

Anything to help convince them? Or shoud I give up on beloved Jazz Band? ;~;

Oh And our Saxes are ticked, Since Our B.D. Wont let them Play Bari but they'll let a Clairnetist play the Bari xD At our school the Basses and Saxo's don't mix.

You don't necessarily need bari LESSONS.
I'm pretty sure your BD would help you a bit.
Bari's easy to pick up, I've heard.
My friend is a French Horn and learned to play bari quickly. It's be easy.

And renting isn't really THAT much, is it?
For secondary instruments at my school, it's $50 per year.
It should be a small fee like that.

And as for convincing-
Aren't your dreams and ambitions priceless and worth every penny?
;P

ok...theres this guy at my school who switched from clarinet to bari. He picked Bari up in a short amount of time. But he learned some fingerings from a alto saxaphonist. so you really wouldnt have to pay for lessons...you could just ask someone whos a sax player for help...idk. and convincing your parents...i have no clue. I want to play tenor sax but i play trumpet...my parents say go for it...but my band director says no.

I play bass clarinet too, and I'm learning tenor sax which really isn't too different from a clarinet. So, you wouldn't really need lessons, I don't think.

But why can't you play jazz on a clarinet? I've seen people do that before.

And as for your parents, you could tell them knowing how to play more than one instrument is a good thing, because what if you go somewhere, like college where they have one instrument, like the bass, and not the other, like the bari or vice versa. It works on mine.

I don't think you should need to convince your parents into letting you do something that your heart is set on.They should see your talents and let you do what you want because music is the most important thing in today's society.Sometimes, if you tell them about something you love a lot, they'll give in xd GL mrgreen

At LESSONS:
Well, we've been playing for 3 going on four years, and we've gone through both of our lessons books. And to be successfull in Jazz you have to be A Third through The Thrid Book.
Im at Hot Crossed Buns on Bari. Thats Book One, Page one, Number 3.

At BD HELPING:
Well He did teach me Hot Crossed Buns..
But He said he's help me in joint of lessons wich Im planning to take Forth semester and summer.
Plus he said he's help me if I needed it. He's a good Saxo Player..

At RENTING:
Its 50bucks for second here too, but the only open one is the custom made 10k-worth-Bari that was made for the BD himself. So It can't be rented, school's rules or something.
So I'd have to rent from Henri's which would be like 500 bucks for A Half-Year or something like that.
But Next school year the two rented ones become open and Ya, But still.

At CONVINCING:
Exactly, Ill use that in our desscussion tonite..

At ASKING SAXO PLAYER..
Did I Mention Saxos and Bass Clairenetists don't mix?

At BD SUPPORT:
He practiclly yelled go for it and shoved a Bari into my hands.

At JAZZ BAND CLAIRES:
It's hard for the music or something like that >>; They have to buy the music and ya. Plus you have to be in Advanced band to Play Flute, Claire, Bartone, Tuba in Jazz Band.

At HEART SET ON IT:
Oh Gawd, It is. I was fingering Hot crossed buns in my sleep!
But My Rents are still set ont he Money thing. My My Non-Musically Inclinded mom is atleast.
Drummer Dad- Really helps the Battle.

Well, you don't really need lessons... I'm a flute, and I taught myself trumpet, so you can probably mostly teach yourself bari sax, maybe get some help from other saxes, either in person or online.

As for renting... can't help you there. sweatdrop

I'm a Bass Clarinet, but play Sax most often. I started in my jazz band on tenor and hadn't picked it up ever 'till the first day. and played it perfectly.

Sax is Clarinet for Dummies, sorry guys but it is. once you get to the high or low extremes it different, but it's basically the upper octave of a clarinet. (save c#)

I'd wait to rent, for the sake of cost, and yeah.

Oh if the saxes start givin you trouble, just challenge to out air capacity them. Works for me wink (then again I can play a contrabass clarinet and be heard in concert setting)
