Stepping in to the place she called home Gurami's pale yellow paws absorbed the cool feeling of comfort. This was home, home soil, home ground, her home. Taking a dep breath she took inthe scent of all she knew, her lilac eyes closing for a moment as she remembered all she needed to in that single carefree breath. Sighing softly the lemon yellow lioness strode, with head high through the pridal grounds.
When here amongst those she called friends and family Gurami felt safer, mroe confident, less clumbsy, she hated to be thought of as the silly one in ehr family, though it was really hard not to be thought of as that. After all she was the youngest of her sisters and the most clumbsy. Smiling to herself she shook away such thoughts, there was a far more important matter at hand. Banda.
Pausing for a moment the pale lioness waited for her big mate to catch up to her, her lips turned in a placid smile, today was the day to introduce her male to the queen and therefore the pride, she knew he wouldn't dissapoint her.

Banda walked with no bounce in his step, but instead a silent, proud stride. He dare not make a scene in fear of his mate's reputation would be at stake. Noticing he was lagging, he fought to catch-up and continue his proud walk.
"I'll try not to talk to much.." Banda whispered, fearing that perhaps this too would shame Gurami. He tried his best to conceal a small grin, wondering if males were supposed to remain solemn. It was all so different. So many rules, so many new things to learn. Banda couldn’t imagine losing Gurami, and therefore knew he could never go against the pride. He sighed, straightening up and hoping no one had noticed. He was so unsure how to act, how to stand, how to look in general. As he eyed every lion who sat like a lapdog at his female’s side, he noticed how dazzling their coats were. Another sigh escaped him and he straightened up further. He was an unpainted canvas, as he had told Gurami when they had first met. Half of him was bright; the other half was dull and white. It made no sense how one could be bright and dull at the same time, but somehow Banda made it fit together. He was falling behind again, and strolled faster to catch up with Gurami.

Usha awoke to a very empty clan cave, its darkness uncomfortably cold. She yawned very unladylike without the presence of another around and stretched. First she stretched forward and then back, bending her body this way and that. It was a wonderful feeling and quite an awakening. It felt good to be able to do so.
Days like these were peaceful. Of course, there were social pressures on Usha but not many. And she could always choose to ignore them. She was queen after all and she knew her responsibilities. She would get to them on her own terms and in her own way. With a rebellious toss of her head, she stalked out of the cave and stopped to blink in a daze at the bright sunlight shining down through the trees.

Mingled with that sunlight was a female of similar colouration to those rays, her tail held high her soft lilac gaze shimmering in the bright sunlight. Lifting her pale head she spotted the bright pelt of the queen, she was very hard to miss after all. Letting a little laugh roll over her lips the custard yellow lioness padded up to the other female. "Greetings Ma'am." She whispers her voice a low, respectful murr.
"I have returned home with the male I spoke of." She tilted her head to oneside indicating Bandas form, "You said you wished to see him when I returned." She looks quietly at the other female, Usha knew she loved Banda but there were certain things that she knew she couldn't do without humiliating her tribe anmd showing these feelings within the prides ranks was not acceptable. She remained silent awaiting the queens words, hopeing they would posess at least a little praise, she didn't after all wish to upset the queen.

Banda felt a cold sweat under so many eyes. A queens eyes could count for about 10 different pairs, and who knew how many curious eyes stared at him form the on-lookers. He felt an uncomfortable pause, but finally gathered up enough strength to murmur,
"Ma'am.." Then he was quite, one again. It wasn't that the moment itself scared Banda, it was just the thought that this lioness, the one standing only yards away, had enough power to snatch Gurami away from him and demand the two never see each other again. First impressions were always important, so Banda tried to remember everything Gurami had told him about rules, but all that came to mind was the fact the queen had enough power to take Gurami away. Banda without realizing had let his head droop, but in a flash of bright orange it stood high again.

Usha's eyes settled upon the yellow lioness after her eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight trickling down through the trees. She smiled at her cousin and nodded, turning to inspect the male. It, of course, was normal that a female would choose a brightly colored male so it was of a mild shock to her that a lioness would choose a majorly white lion. Of course, she quickly readjusted her thinking. Usha had seen the males often enough although never up close. She had observed the males lionesses mated to. They were not all bright colors. Some were dull. Some even lacked the vibrant purple and orange this male possessed. No, Gurami couldn't have made a bad choice, just one forbidden to a queen who needed to produce a suitable heir.
She nodded at the male in approval. There was no outburst from him. He did not look humble and obedient like she expected a male to look. But perhaps she needed to observe the males more. Being surrounded by females only left one to wonder about males. And besides, he was quiet enough and polite enough. Not to mention that Gurami had said he wasn't one of them which meant their rules were foreign to him. So what he had done so far was greatly to his credit.
She nodded to Gurami. "Make sure he understands all the rules that pertain to him and he'll do fine. I must admit though, I never thought that you would beat your sisters in finding a male." She didn't know exactly what she meant by that except Gurami was the loving one but she appeared quite timid, not very assertive. So to go find a male seemed to Usha to be quite a feat.

Gurami stood silent while her queen inspected the male she had braught before her. She knew that to the queen Banda would appear plain but she had no royal blood to worry about. She loved Banda and that was all that mattered.
Listening to the older female she gave a gentle nod "Yes Ma'am I'll make sure he keeps his place." She knew it sounded sort of crude to say such a thing and later she would appologise to Banda for speaking of him so flippantly but before the queen and the prying eyes of the pride she knew better than to treat Banda as she normally would, he needed to seem subservient in front of the others.
She looked at Banda with a gentle hidden smile inher eyes, he was so wonderful, she was glad he was willing to bend to their rules. "Thankyou ma'am," She giggled gently at the queens comment "I think perhaps my sisters are much more picky than myself, they follow their heads instead of their hearts." She puurs her soft furred ears flitting against her head. "Perhaps we should be going now magesty, I need to show Banda our den don't want him geting lost after all." She smiles and turns to nudge Bandas shoulder gently towards the dens and his new home.

Banda felt awkward was putting it lightly. He gulped, and tried not to appear too timid. Up until this moment, he thought she would have disapproved. Banda wasn't bright to say the least, and had no extraordinary attributes that made him stand out. He was just a mildly bright lion, who apparently had been ok'd by the queen. A silent sigh of relief spewed out, and he managed a crooked smile before bowing. He said nothing though. What if he was still being tested? Still being watched thus far, but to relief some stress and show his true colors he was accepted into the pride just for now? Wavering eyes glanced at Gurami before returning to the ground.
"Thank you Ma'am." He mumbled softly, almost hoping the small thank you hadn't been detected.

Yes but thinking with your brain is how you're supposed to think. Your heart when involved with males is selfish and will disregard all rules and regulations that would have kept it from making mistakes or from jumping over the edge. That was what she wanted to tell Gurami. But the girl was surprisingly stubborn and she doubted that the female would understand and listen if she told her. No, she suspected the female would point out that she hadn't broken any rules yet. But yet was the key word and it made Usha worry.
She heard the thank you and smirked just a little. Yes, he did have a personality in there. Hopefully it was a good one.
