How did the day manage to pass so slowly? Was it this new world she was in, this kitsu world? Was it her condition of never sleeping that made the day draw on longer? It was hard to say, and not something the female found worth lingering on. With indigo hair framing her face, Setsu bowed her head as she continued to let the day pass her by. Scaled tails glinted colors of pearl as they bent and twisted lazily behind her, catching the afternoon sunlight that managed to slide past the gnarly tree branches above. And it was in this surrounding of seeming peace that Setsu eased, red and purple eye glazed over with fatigue that no amount of sleep would mend.

"Is there even a purpose to my being here?" Her tone was dull, monotone without her even needing to try. She wasn't expecting an answer, and believed that no one ever could give it to her. The kitsu glanced blankly down to her paws, tracing them out with mild interest. To think they used to be fingers once, with an actual bloodflow pulsing through them. But now, even with fur, they were as cold as ice and so pale. They clenched, before the female grimaced to herself, simply to test if her features had froze over too. There was no purpose here, not when she had goals to accomplish in another land..

User ImageBones clinked as the deathly skinny (or it would have been skinny had it any skin to begin with) creature reached into its robes pulling out two hourglasses. Hovering blue orbs glancing over the sand pouring through and through from one end to another. The orbs floating about in the creature's skull dimed slightly as it stuffed the hourglasses back into his robe, slowly trotting off. Three skeletal tails coiled tightly around a very piculiar scythe. This was a common act for the black robed figure, as it was..he was, the Grim Reaper. Death personified.

Plump little maggots sat upon his ears, filled with glee as they ate away at the last remains of his flesh. One would have thought that his ears would have grown bare already, but as to how the maggots even got onto Death's ears was a mystery and so in being Death the fact that his ears still carried flesh, dispite the maggots constant chewing it away was not to be questioned. What kind of answer could really come from such a question anyways?

The male's stride slowed as a rather dull voice reached him. it didn't sound too far off and a tiny break would not cause any chaos so why not check it out. Curiousity after all was something that every now and then (more often then) overcame the Reaper.

What he saw when he found the owner of the voice baffled him some. Something was certainly off about, what seemed to be a purple haired female. "I'm sure that depends." Death uttered in response to the female's question, though he was certain it had not been directed at him. Responding just gave him an excuse to move in closer, figure out what seemed to be so strange about the other.

Fur stood on end, an odd sensation that made Setsu go still with caution. It was so similiar to a sixth sense, and the female took no hesitation to listen to its warning. Narrowed eyes were the only things to move as the kitsu scanned her surroundings. The wooden area was still coated lightly in snow, from the treetops to the ground below. And the white substance was a great hinderance to her searching, acting like a foam barrier between her readings for vibrations. And without that assistance, the female didn't know which direction to scout first. But even so, this sense of disturbance was too heavy for her to return to her state of relaxation.

Remaining as motionless as stone, the female continued to scan the area with growing urgency. Her senses, as dulled as they were with death, were suddenly revived with this need to protect herself. A need she hadn't felt in forever, and the back of her mind wondered....was this her will to survive? Thoughts were cut as a voice, an echo, reached her ears. The pale muscles shot up, the feather earring swinging harshly in reaction.

The male kitsu was no hard sight to spot, his dark robes contrasting sharply with the white of snow. His words didn't even register in her mind, the mere sight of the other making her eyes widen slightly. Was it....another kitsu? Glowing blue eyes had her locked and set with paralysis, her assumptions racing to what she saw. Why? Why was she reacting in such a way? The way the other dressed, his very structure, Setsu was quick to guess him as a threat. A sinister spector of some sort. "What's your business here stranger?" Even with her racing thoughts, her twitching form, her voice remained loyally monotone.

Blue glowing orbs looked the female over, that strange sense that he was missing something growing stronger and stronger. Could he have seen without the floating orbs in his skull, probably yes, why then were they there? Probably something the skeleton came up with to make himself seem a little less...dead. Now the Reaper wasn't exactly one to clue into everything right away, and there were days when he was off his game, but this was not one of those days and knowing that it was not was frustrating him. Why could he not pin-point what was so odd about the purple haired female?

Toes cracked as his paws shifted over the ground, the bones gently tapping against one another. His tails were moving slowly now along the handle of his scythe, as his ears lifted. "Business?" he repeated, with a rather odd look upon his face, or rather as odd a look as a skeleton was capable of. The tiny blue orbs narrowed within his skull, as a single tail uncoiled from its place upon his scythe, flicking like a pendulum of a clock behind him.

"I was simply passing by." the creature uttered, a makeshift grin showing up on his toothy maw. "Heard your voice and decided to check it out. You'll have to forgive me, curiostiy tends to get the better of me." Yes just simple idle talk, just until he could find what was troubling him so. "-Do I know you?" he soon questioned, giving the female another glance over. "Something about you seems rather odd."

'Something of which I'm certain, I should know what it is.'

Seem less dead? Was that what the other was, an undead like herself? The very notion of the idea left the female speechless. Would they be like the ones the Spaniard and Leon preached of? Now, upon closer appearance, Setsu could take in many little details of this other character. Three strands of what she thought were beaded decoration were in fact the boney tails of the other kitsu. And his shallow face that only had the depth of shadows from his skull structure. The thin glimpses she caught of bones for paws, which she also noticed were drawing in closer. Nearer to herself. Overall, his appearance was enough to stir her into action, Moreso than anyone had previously.

She stood as the other spoke, dusting herself off casually of any snow specks. Tails kept heavy and unmoving near her ankles as she shifted to peer at the other. "I see." Curiousity, curiousity, it was always the same. Her eyes shifted to a glare as the other continued his path of walking. "But your forgiveness is yet to be seen, if you continue forward. Hold your ground." She'd rather not have any disruptions of force simply because the other was curious. And yet she knew...somewhere in her core, that this individual she couldn't take lightly.

Maggots squirmed about on the Reaper's ears, there seemed to be more upon them today then there had been the day before. There were so many in fact that the chubby little grubs were bumping and bashing into each other and- SPLOOCH! Two little maggots feel to their deaths at Death's feet. Such were the lives of the little creatures, eat Death's only remaining flesh and die from either over eating or by plumiting to their doom. If one were to guess the average life span of the maggots that occupied Death's ears it would have been about 24 hours. Which really if you thought about it enough brought up more questions then anything else, something with Death himself would ponder about...But not now.

The orbs in his skull eyed the feather hanging from the female's ear, as he stoped in his tracks as she spoke. Hold his ground? Perhaps such things were be polite, and the Reaper did do his best to remain with proper manners, well when he felt like it. You didn't really tell Death what to do and expect him to listen...Well this of course was in most cases, and this current case would be classified as such.

"Oh?" he uttered, canting his head to the side. "Sorry, how rude of me." Bones clicked as the skeleton shifted the weight on his shoulders. "My mind was wandering. That was quite rude, I really should pay more attention." Another click as the tail that had uncoiled from the handle of his scythe moved towards his forepaws. "Well my business...deals with time or the lack of it anyways." there was a pause in his voice as his gaze shifted back over her attire. "Tell me. Why the feather? Doesn't seem to fit with the rest of your outfit..Or perhaps it's the colour."

Dulled eyes watched unamused as crawling maggots sucked loudly on the other's ear, only to collapse to their doom shortly after. Even things so gutsy and blind to reside near that kitsu didn't stand a second of living. So was the threatening aura of this stranger. Even the undead that she knew of didn't have parasites leeched to their forms...

Setsu took advantage of the time Death used to halt his steps. Slowly and steadily, she made to stand upright, as much anthromorphic as she could. A difficult feat, yes, but with a mindset of pure human habits, it was something the female made practice to uphold. Front paws held stiffly and tails splayed back to help with balance. It was with this upper view that the female was able to notice some shape hidden behind the cloaked kitsus form. A weapon....a scythe. Eyes narrowed as she processed that information, while listening to the kitsu's talk. Nothing was said on etiquette; that was no concern of right now.

"Time, you say. Then why waste it here." Her ears pinned as if they had been the target of insult. The one holding the said feather was tilted farthest back, out of sight from the questioning skeleton. "A gift and nothing more." A lie? Perhaps. But Setsu's conditional poker face betrayed not a second thought. "Tell me. Why a scythe?" That familiar shape and metal....it had been the same that dug into her flesh before. A weapon that took her last breath before.

The Reaper watched as the female fixed herself upright. His skull turned slightly, noting how she was greatly using her tails to help her keep her balance. Standing upright was not something he saw most other kitsusagi do, but the matter did not raise any questions in his mind. He would sometimes find himself doing the same thing, holding his scythe in his paws in order to look more...Perhaps he did it to look threating? Television had really brought down the Reaper. Whatever way, the fact that the female was now standing upright did not concern the skeleton.

A brow arched (or as best as a skeleton could arch a brow) when her ears pined back, the one with the feather tilting back so far that the earring was out of his sight entirly. "Hm? -Oh." His gaze turned back towards the female's eyeline. "I do not have any time. I am not bound to those things. So I do not have any time to waste." It was really quite simple, or at least it was to the Reaper. No time to waste, no time to spend, no time at all. Time was a mortal thing, a thing he actually found rather fasinating.

Ears gave a little flick as the feather was made out to have been a gift from someone. He couldn't help, but feel there was something else to it, but shruged it off for the moment.

A rather serious look was fixed upon the walking skeleton's features, as his free tail gave off a few more cracks. "It gets the job done." he spoke, clicking his toes. "I do have a sword, but that is reserved for royalty, it's in the rules. I have no royalty to visit today, so I carry only my scythe." The male blinked.

Setsu winced under the ice flamed stare of the other, setting her own gaze off to the side. "No time..." What sick game was this? What world actually held the embodiment of death, the taker of souls? Surely this was no prank though, Setsu's fur was still standing on end. And her chest...it felt as breath, not air, was sitting there. Frozen and choked on..fear? But it couldn't be. The totality of this encounter was enough to make Setsu scoff in disbelief. But to face it, be here herself to experience it, there was no denying it. The female kitsu shook her thoughts, setting a firm glance back to the other. "then...what do you go by in this world?"

The explanation was absorbed with stone silence. Gets the job done. Ears flicked in response to rules. So, no swords carried today. But a scythe held loyallt near his side. "I see. And is this a visit?" Pale maw gave a weak memory of a smirk. Why else would this stranger be wandering about in such an eased way? Or...perhaps her mind had decayed beyond saving. Perhaps this was all just some spector of her own mind. Somehow....she highly doubted it.

He fliped his ears back, as her gaze turned away from him. Had it been something he had said? The Reaper blinked rather suddenly, the blue orbs floating within in skull dissapearing for only a second. There it was again, that odd feeling from the female. Puzzling the skeleton more and more. Why could he not pin-point what was so odd about her? There had to be something he was missing. His jaws cracked oppen slightly, his teeth most certainly standing out.

If not time what did he go by? "As time is not bound to me, I go simply by the is and the was, the simple state of being. To-be and maybe. It is a lot less complicated then it sounds." Or perhaps for those not familiar with the laws of time and space and whatever else held bounds upon the world, it would have been even more complitated then it sounded. The state of being and the boundaries of time were both simple yet complex at the same time. And describing such things...Well the Reaper did not do such things, though that wasn't to say that they could not be described. They most certainly had, and were withing the pale pages of the books that lined the shelves in Death's home.

Death mulled over the female's question for a moment, before opening his boney maw to answer. "I suppose you could say that this is indeed a visit. "Though if it is the visit, I can not tell. 'least not until the time is correct." the skeleton gave a nod, though the female's life or lack there of had not still not registered in his mind. His senses seemed to be going wild and still the Reaper's mind had not clued in just yet. It wouldn't be long however until Death would finally noticed what was so odd about the other.

Not something said as much as something felt. Something the female didn't sit comfortably with. But with an undead body, there was only so much to read as evidence of tension. Setsu still needed to learn just how she presented herself, with how often others were curious of her condition. Overbearing, yes, but something that needed to be done. Now more then ever.

The kitsu listened on in quiet company, one ear flicking lightly. "No, it hardly sounds that complex. But at this stage I view everything in the light of 'maybe'." That way, there were less issues to deal with. Or more specific, less connections and bonds to tie her ambition down. But that was yet to be seen. Setsu tilted her chin down, setting two-toned gaze on the robed kitsu. He couldn't tell? As much as she'd like to voice that oddity, the kitsu knew better. Best not tempt this entity so arrogantly.

"Then if that's the case, I'd best be on my way." Time spent ticking away with the skeleton was surely being bold with fate. Even if time was something neither of them felt. Besides, her fur was still on end, and she figured only distancing herself would relieve that concern. The kitsu stepped round to face the opposite direction, eyeing the mountains ahead. There was something she must check on shortly. Brow lifted as she glanced back to Death, wondering if formalities were necessary. Moreso, to keep wary for any sudden appearances of that scythe. "Well, it's been...a rare encounter."

The skeleton nodded most others often veered towards the maybes, the one thing that allowed them to have a better chance at what they wanted. Maybe wasn't set in stone to-be was. Rather easy to understand why it would be the most common one to be chosen. "Understandable." he uttered, eyes narrowing as he thought over what she had said. 'At this stage'? What exactly had she ment by that? Clearly because of something from her past.

A shrug passed the shoulders of the Reaper, as the female spoke of being on her way, soon turning away from his gaze. "I'm sure it has been." came his reply a single tail swaying behind him. He supposed he wouldn't figure out just what it was that was so odd. "For my personal records though, may I ask for your name. Before you're off." It was at this that the Reaper paused. Being Death he should have already known her name or at least have gotten a feeling about it. That was one of the ways how he made sure he didn't make any mistakes after all. There were very few reasons he wouldn't know or have felt such a thing, none of them he rather liked.

"Wait, are you sure we've never met before?"

To be, maybe, all those concepts were so bothersome to deal with. And so the female took no need to debate about which was better and why. Whatever worked out in the end, to each individual's needs, was what it came down to. And her own category of 'being' didn't want to pause and think of such things. Adjusting her arm brace, Setsu merely nodded at the other's voice. It had been interesting, well, at least as interesting as things could come for the two.

Finished with her task, the female kept upright as she made to leave. A pain yes, but one she felt needed for the mobility of her front paws. Too used to being human to act a full kitsusagi. But certain reflexes acted alone. Like her ears that perked up to the unexpected request from the male. Personal records? Why did that diction seem to fray her nerves, let alone the little patience she had? From her side stance, only her indigo eye could be seen turned towards him. Had she been incorrect guessing this stranger's identity? Was he a fake, or closely resembled lacky of who she assumed? Her voice was curt and abrupt. "Setsu."

The scales lining her three tails bristled just slightly, before laying smooth once again. Seemed someone was open to questioning their thoughts aloud. "Now that is a mystery, isn't it. But I must saw, delving into my past just to find a suitable match isn't something I intend to do." Formerly met or not, Setsu didn't find herself thrilled to be in the graces of this stranger. Her head bowed lightly in quiet thoughts, before glaring back to the male. "You're Death, are you not?"

Death, sat silently waiting to see if the female would respond to his request of her name. Oh her certainly hoped that it would bring light to the oddity he sensed, and yet he also hoped that it was not what he thought. If it was what he thought, there would be some problems, there were always problems with that kind of stuff. Though of course that kind of stuff also didn't happen too often, yes it did happen, but not as often as one would think. There had to be balance after all.

The blue orbs within his skull lit up brighter as the female spoke her name, but swiftly returned to their normal glow. Setsu. His mind quickly began scaning over the list of hourglasses; yes the Reaper had taken the time to memorize all of them. When you had no time of your own, you could do those things. Matching the names upon the hourglasses to faces, apperances, when he wasn't working of course. "Setsu..." he repeated, his ears perking in a rather curious form.

His snout raised slightly as the female spoke again, not wishing to figure out if they had met or not. That was fine, it was her choice, though he would have liked to know. Her question next, was what made the orbs in his skull grow dim. "Am I Death?" the skeleton's voice trailled off for a moment, his gaze remaining fixed on the female. "Yes. I am the personification of Death. The Grim Reaper." his voice was calm and oddly smooth as he spoke, his free tail returning to his scythe's handle, coiling around it once more. "Your time has been up for some time now, hasn't it?" Death blinked, wondering if he was thinking of the right person. "You should not be in a state of being."

If he was wrong....Well he could always just appologize.

A tense moment was spent observing the other kitsusagi and his reactions. His stance of silence, looming thoughtfully and patiently. The way his eyes glowed when handed information of an individual. It was like watching a computer at work, filing and uploading at a loyal pace. Though what this stranger may pull up, Setsu was 'holding her breath' to find out.

His muzzle lifted, and she in turn shifted so both eyes were set on the other. Unable to help herself, she quirked a brow. Had he discovered something interesting? Considering that, indeed, he was Death in body, surely the connection had been triggered. Dulled eyes bore down on the robed figure in a calculated manner. This may not have been her first encounter with the individual, but it was certainly the first time to behold him. And he was almost everything she had heard about for what the grim representative stood for.

If the female could feel emotions of the living, she would have laughed in dark humor. Time run out? Hardly. But instead, the female nodded curtly to Death, her tail tips giving a faint twitch. "No, I shouldn't be." And her eyes turned cold, shaded. "But I won't be buried just yet. I have unfinished business." The gift she was given wouldn't be wasted in vain. That was the single determination that kept her moving. And though she had no emotions to feel the passion of her drive, she was surely stubborn enough to continue it.
