Oh my gosh making money is so hard in Harvest Moon DS! Maybe its just because I am not use to it! But does anyone have money making tips for early off in the game.

Yeah, I hear you. The one for the DS seems to be the hardest Harvest Moon. Anyways, you can get a lot of money by having the Harvest Sprites fish down by the beach.

You can make money really easily using the casino. If you play Poker and double up until you get around 70,000 medals you can buy the red cloak (forgot what it's called) and sell it to Van for about 500,000 G.
The only thing is that it doesn't work in the Girl's Version until after you're married.

The easiest way (And most effective without using glitches) is to go mining. Go into the dig site, and dig up jewlery.
Here's a trick!
Save before digging. Dig until you find something (Necklace, bracelet, broach, earrings). Then reload the game, and dig the same exact place where you found it earlier. You can dig up 1-8 jewlery each time you wal in/out the mines. collect 10, and you made 20,000 g.
Note: Stay where Carter and Flora work at. Do not go any deeper than that unless you want to get ores and other things.

you don't even have to get the red cloak if you still want to make money a semi-challenging part of the game but not be broke all the time. Instead try doing the same thing but with the love bangle. Van should give you 36-38k for it.

I know an awesome way to make 900,000,000 to 1,000,000,000g in that game!
Alls you need to do is get at least 3 sprites in the Fishing team (catching certain amounts of fish(you can hire the fishing team to catch the fish, and when you reach a certain amount of fish alls you need to do is catch another fish and the sprite is yours), fishing in the water hole by the horses stable, upgrading your fishing rod to mystrile, etc) and hire them in the winter. No matter how many fish they catch you will earn 900,000,000 to 1,000,000,000g! I swear! That's how I got everything built in Gold Lumber, the pond for Leia, the items off of the Shopping Channel, a crap load of accessories, almost ALL of the Harvest Moon cards, and all that good stuff!
I love the Fishing bonus!!! 3nodding blaugh whee
