There comes a time in every young mare's life where she just wants to escape the rest of the world and pretend like nothing is wrong, if even just for a second.

Well, Vanilla Swirl would never be able to say that she truly would be able to feel like that again. From watching her sons grow up, to protecting her father from that mare, she never really caught a break. Sure she loved the boys to death, but they were hard work, harder than anything she'd ever imagine. Apparently, Bliss thinked so too. He had her, and her brother, but Soqui was never around. He took off as soon as he was born, with their mother, Milkshake...so Bliss really only had Vanilla Swirl. Well, boys were a whole lot more devilish than girls, and man were they fast. Of course they were stallions now, and stallions who (much to their mothers pleasure) never really wanted to leave her side. Sure they'd both go off on their own adventure, but they'd come back before the day was done.

She may not ever understand the whole concept of parenthood because she really wasn't the best at it, but she loved it. It was hard to do with no father to help her, since Ronen and her had a one night fling, and even harder to do with Bliss around, but somehow she still loved it. Butter Pecan and Hazelnut were her children. They were her boys, and no one could ever erase that. Mistakes happen, for sure...but maybe some happen for a good reason. Them two obviously happened to help their mother grow up a bit, and to teach her life lessons and even she could never forget. Nah, they weren't a mistake, dispite what she thought when she was pregnant (or didn't think, because she didn't know until they came) they were most definitely a miracle.

Like today, today was a miracle. Bliss went off with Evelyn some more, that stupid annoying mare. Uggh! No mare could ever replace her mother, so what the heck was he doing? Trying to piss his daughter off? Well, Evelyn would soon learn that there is only one mare for Bliss, and she'd leave. And her boys were both off as well, doing oh lord only knows what. But that didn't bother her, because boys will be boys, as the saying says, and they couldn't ever get into trouble. Well, maybe not Hazelnut, but perhaps Butter Pecan....

Anyways, her entire family was off doing their own thing, so she had time to think to herself. The purple-eyed mare scanned the area and laughed. There wasn't a soul insight....boy, this really was a miracle.

Gvnega knew vaguely of the other mocha skinned two-leggers that lived in the outskirts of the Kawani tribe's valley. He had heard that a number of them found companionship with other Soquili where they resided--which was everywhere these days as their populations continued to grow--but the vibrant stallion would always be the first. Roaming wherever he pleased on strong legs that often itched for the life of a nomad, it was the same old song that always drew him back to his home village. His sister's song. The tribe princess, Soquili. Named so for the creatures they revered like gods.

Gvnega Tsuna, named Blackfoot for his decadent obsidian hooves and endlessly tall stockings, which gave his muscular limbs a sleek appearance, the personable stallion had never had trouble attracting the opposite gender. Flirtatious to a fault, the tri-color paint found it hard to resist a pretty face though he'd come to butt heads with many an irate mates while loving up on those pretty faces. Luckily, 'Nega was a rather good natured fellow and respectful enough not to pursue another male's sweetheart. However, there were always a handful of exceptions to every rule.

Pacing idly through his tribe's lands something seemed to have his people up in arms. No matter where he set his hooves in the frozen ground he seemed to be disturbing something. A small flock of chickens ran through his legs, feathers flying as they squawked and warbled. Their hunting dogs, which 'Nega knew only as tamed wolves darted around the homes of their masters, barking excitably. Everything seemed in chaos today, even the tribes' people were bustling around forcing the perplexed stallion to side and back step, just to avoid being bumped into.

He hated when his village was in disarray, and naturally, his sister was nowhere to be seen. Soquili was always busy these days, as she grew so did her responsibilities and the time she could afford to spend with her brother wanned like the moon. Shifting his weight antsily from hoof to hoof, mismatched ears swiveled, head lifted high over the heads of the villagers. Unsettled at the thought of leaving in such a time of disorganization, Gvnega assured himself he'd return home soon before heading towards the serenity which beckoned him.

The warm sunlight on his back felt good and it was a freeing sensation to be able to stretch his legs and escape the cramped and bustling quarters of the Kawani village where his motions were always tightly controlled and cautious. Away from his home he was a completely different stallion, breaking into a gallop as he extended his legs as far as they would reach, bangles and cuffs jangling merrily. Flowing tail flicked in a glorious banner of various edible hues; caramel, cocoa and milk to name a few. Clear beige hues didn't have far to search before falling upon an unfamiliar mare all by her lonesome it seemed. What luck!

Pulling his haunches back to slow his pace, ebony hooded stud sauntered towards the beauty, admiring her coloring as he greeted her several paces before he reached the stranger's side. Osiyo beautiful! What's a filly like you doing out here all on her own?

If Vanilla Swirl only knew of the Kawani village, she'd visit it from time to time. Creatures that weren't horses always amused her because they were so different from anything that'd she imagine. It was a shame she'd never met a two-legger before. Thanks to her ignorant father, she didn't even know what one looked like if it came up to her and flicked her in the nose! The mare truly had no idea what she was missing. Nah, her life revolved around her family, who all happened to be soquili. The news of 'two-leggers' and soquili that hung out with them would come as a complete shock.

But there was nothing wrong with learning new things everyday. That was another saying she heard often, and decided to use it. Haha, indeed...that was where most of her knowledge came from, anyways. Just wandering aimlessly, secreting listening in on other's conversations. She picked up on a few things, and gathered new words...new phrases, and even learned how to tell if someone was in love! It seemed rather stupid of her to do something like spy on others...but again, she had Bliss as a father. He wasn't the greatest and boy did he know a whole lot less than her. The mare often found herself teaching him things. Poor silly stallion, but she loved him all the same. Milkshake and him brought her into this world, and she owed them at least a little respect.

But the knowledge she learned, she hardly ever used. Most of it was incredibly stupid things that'd she'd end up repeating or using in wrong situations, only making it worse. And the whole love thing she picked up on one day after hearing a stallion describe a mare to his friend. He used words that were so enchanting, it surprised her that she didn't burst through her hiding spot and proclaim her love for him! Nah, Vanilla Swirl wasn't one to fall in love, anyways. Ronen had hurt her, whether he or she knew it, and she wouldn't ever be able to get over it.

At least, it would take the most wonderful stallion in the world to change her mind! Heh, things happened...one could never be quite sure of everything, so it was best to say that love was still possible, right? At least, that's what she heard another mare say. It just seemed to make sense in the strangest fashion.

Suddently, a loud noise of something bursting through the air entered her creamed color ears. Whatever it was seemed to be enjoying himself, or perhaps he was in a hurry. Then it slowed almost as quickly as it started, and it puzzled the crazy mare. What in the world was whatever made that noise, doing?

Then the voice came, and a very luring voice indeed. Vanilla Swirl turned her head in the direction and found herself looking at a wonderfully colored and muscular stallion. Hmm, what an interesting sight before her! Never had she seen something so elegant! All the stallions she met were...girly for lack of a better term. But they all flirted. stupid stallion. Lavender eyes took in the natural shades that he wore on his coat more beautifully then she.

And she laughed after she was done staring. It took a moment to respond, but she did. "Hello to you to, stallion! Uh, just taking in me time, I guess. It's been far too long for that." The 'beautiful' comment seemed to go over her head almost as if she didn't hear it. "What about you? You seem the type to be surrounded by mares."
