Kohpi bounced, leading the massive male along. Momma'd be happy! She paused, sniffing around. After a moment, she turned and dove into some bushes. "Momma, I found a new friend!" And this time he wasn't going to get her pregnant!
Bodaway paused, watching Kohpi. Strange little lion... The hare was more of an odity, though, as he'd never SEEN a green hare. As the winds shifted, his mind took different priorities. That scent... He knew it so well... Eyes closed, he inhaled it deeply. "Mioyo..."

Mioyo was actually in the middle of stalking her lunch when Kohpi came bounding out of nowhere, and the female swore to about two gods before turning to her daughter, sitting paitently as she sighed.
"You found a friend, dear? That's good." The female sighed, rolling her shoulders a bit.
Kohpi could do with some sedatives.

Rubbing with a purr against her mother, the cub-minded adult smiled and nodded. "Yup! He's a big red lion from the sands!" She went bounding back out, trying to get Bodaway to move. "See? He says he knows you!"
A shiver ran down the male's spine as he followed the nudging from the tiny lioness. Stepping carefully through the brush, he flicked an ear. What he saw was... Well, it smelled like Mioyo, but it wasn't how he remembered her. "Mioyo?"

Mioyo's ears swivelled forward as she sighted the male, and her heart skipped a beat.
There was no mistaking the male, but yet, he'd perished.... Hadn't he?
Warily, the female drew close, nose twitching to try to catch his scent... If it was his smell....

He moved closer, leaning over to smell. Yes, it was Mioyo... It was Mioyo! She wasn't dead! "Mioyo...! I thought you were... Dead..." And what of their son...? What of Riku? He looked around, almost expecting what he still remembered to be a cub to pop up.
The tiny white lion smiled, watching her mother and the new lion interact. She looked at Darshana, who whispered that they should leave them be. Nodding enthusiastically, the lioness turned and pranced off. "I'll be back, Momma!"

Mioyo blinked, then hung her head shamefully. It was him. Few others knew of her son... The first cub to survive...
"I lost him. I don't know if he lives, of if he's gone."
The female sighed, remembering Kohrisu... Her friend since cubhood... How to explain? How to tell him?

So even she didn't know how Riku faired... He let out a heavy sigh, his own head hanging. After a moment, he looked up, gold eyes dancing a bit. "If you're alive... Surely Riku lives, too." He certainly lived, and he could only assume that Mioyo thought he was dead.
His thoughts brought him to one thing that he hadn't mentioned yet. "Mioyo... I have... Other cubs..." There was no true love between he and the mother, though. She only really raised two out of three, after all. "All girls, funnily..." Riku aside, his only sons were adopted.

ioyo blinked, perking just barely.
"Funny... I... Did as well. Two girls and a boy."
She gave Kohpi a meaningful look-- or atleast the lionesses' general direction.
"My other daughter walks the lands of this pride, and with children."

He couldn't help but smile. So they'd both moved on, thinking one another dead... "I know. I've met Kabichi. She's... An adopted daughter. I just didn't know that I'm a grandfather by adoption!" He had to laugh at that one, then glanced after Kohpi. "What of Kohpi? Does she have any young, or is she still but a cub in the mind herself?"

"I'm not sure." Mioyo admitted. "She wanders off frequently."
Then she smiled at Bodaway a bit.
"Oh, but the cubs are still young. I don't think their older than a few months. Able to wander away just a bit. Kabichi's age when we were seperated."

"Oh, but surely you'd notice if you had grandchildren following your daughter around!" He couldn't help but smile a bit, batting gently at Mioyo. He paused, thinking about Kabichi's cubs. "I should go see some time soon. I haven't seen Kabichi in a while. And she should meet one or two of her sisters." Of course he couldn't bring all five to the Pridelands to visit. Just one or two.

"I think she'd like hat."
Mioyo smiled, playfully batting back a bit, and grinned, mischievously. The female then rose, rubbing against him.

Yes, he'd do that... Later, though. A purr rumbled deep in his chest as he rubbed his head against Mioyo, the deep and time-burried emotions returning. Licking between her ears, he inhaled her scent. An ear flicked after a moment. "I've found my pride... They've changed. They're nearly inbred from the plague killing most of the pride." Few pure Firekin remained without inbreeding. Were any even pure of blood still? He knew there were at least two that weren't... But time would say if they fixed their own problem themselves. The pride as a whole, though... "We need new blood, but proud old traditions stop it from happening."

Mioyo sighed, nuzzling her long-time mate sadly as he spoke, rumbling in her chest as well.
"I am so sorry, beloved... If I were able to do anything..."
She sighed, licking his ear tenderly.
"Yet I could barely tend my own litter.... Their father-- my FRIEND..... Was killed by those rogues..."

A deep and dangerous growl rumbled in the Firekin's chest as his ears went back into his dark mane. "Such insolent lions... Why can they not leave you alone?" It seemed misfortune followed his beloved everywhere. He groomed her ears, doing his best to comfort. "We should look at what we have now, though. Your daughters with your friend... They've become fine lionesses."
