Abedari had been traveling for quite a few days. The male was becoming thinner, though he retained his muscled form. Abedari was a lion of the roguelands, skilled hunter and great desire to learn more about a variety of new places. During his travels, he had visited most every pride and spoke with members about their beliefs. He was knowledgable, but this knowledge was never enough to keep him in any place for too long.

He was a born traveler.

As the sun slowly died away in the distance, the male scanned the area around him for some place to rest for the night. After a bit of searching, he came across a small clearing where the grasses were tall and he could blend in rather well. The male did not worry too much about hiding and welcomed any fights that might occur.

Msimbo'Asali was on the road again, having shucked off her old haunts and her old identity as a snake sheds skin. And like a snake, her new colours seemed brighter. Without the baggage of her past she fet free. No one here would know her and she could be anyone she wanted.

The honey coloured female had entered the unclaimed roguelands from the south and was making her way towards a pride. She was on the hunt for new stories, histories and inspiration. At the moment she was passing close by the cleaning Abedari was in, musing as she went.

Abedari had just lowered himself to rest when he heard the quiet speech of a lioness nearby. His ears immedietly raised and he became curious as to just what she was speaking of. The sky was growing darker and the roguelands were a dangerous place for a female to venture out on her own. The thought of Shiri appeared in Abedari's mind and he wondered, for just a very brief moment, if his daughter was safe.

When the thought left him, the male adjusted himself so that he could peer towards the female as she neared him. He was well hidden within the grasses and kept still. He would not wish to disrupt her speech.

As the male continued to look the female over, he smirked. She was a beautiful lioness, simple in color, but perfect for camoflauge amongst the grasses.

"Hmm. No, no, too simple an ending..." Only every now and then she's murmur to herself, trying to create a story in her mind. It wasn't a usual habit of hers but she was in such a light hearted mood - foot loose and fancy free!

It was only as she got down wind did she pause to scent the air. Male lion, healthy enough and very close. Oops! Blue eyes were turned to search among the grasses and she smiled.

Abedari was curious as to what the female was speaking about, but to him it did not seem to make any sense. Becoming more curious as to what this female was doing on her own and so relaxed in the roguelands, the male stood and made his presense known. By the smile on her face, she had noticed him in the brush.

"Good Evening, miss. I hate to interupt your monologue, but I couldn't help but notice that you were alone.." Abedari looked about behind her for any sign of others and then back to her. The way he spoke was relaxed and friendly. He clearly meant her no harm, or was very good at hiding foul intentions.

And to show respect, the male kept himself where he was, not wanting to suddenly approach when he had only just become visible. The fatigue that the male was once feeling was replaced with curiousity.

"Good evening yourself, sir." She replied, amused by Abedari's curious, passive stance. He didn't seem to be a threat just interested in who was passing by. Fair enough.

"Yes, I've been traveling alone for a long while now. And you?" There was no hint of another on the breeze nor mingled with his own scent. Looked like he was a lone traveller too. And she as confident enough not to take the comment as a threat.

"You seem to be alone out here too." She added sweetly.

Abedari, pleased that he had not riled the female into fright, continued to smile and look her over. The male was curious about just whom he was speaking with and while he observed her, the sleep that he once felt left him further.

When she responded and added 'sir', Abedari felt a pang of guilt hit him. Here he was, likely the age of this female's own father and he was finding an interest in her! The large male shifted his position and tried not to dwell on how old he was becoming.

Abedari nodded, "Yes, like yourself, I prefer to travel alone.. though I find on nights like these I could appreciate company. To travel alone gives one more freedom and independence, but I believe any good lion needs companionship and conversation." And with a smug smirk, the male added, "I find myself lucky to have stumbled across such a fine lady like yourself."

Abedari was flirting, but not in an overly aggressive manner. The male's gestures were all polite and his voice was still collected. His years of experience had taught him just what was appropriete and what not.

She chuckled softly and teased lightly - "Flattery will get you everywhere they say."

Why not? she thought. After all, no one was expecting her anywhere and she was in no rush. No obligations to rush off to and he seemed harmless enough. It would be a practise of her new persona and a pleasant diversion. Just a few minutes. Not long, then she'd be on the road again. But she could spare some for sure!

"Conversation is fine, since I'm a lover of words, good lion. Though I can't keep calling you that or 'sir' I suppose...?"

When Abedari heard the female announce that flatter would get him everywhere, he tried to study her actions. Was she encouraging him, or reminding him that he was being too bold? The male smirked whatever the case was and decided it would be best to be more discrete. A rogue lioness was not one to tamper with. If she preferred to wander alone, there could have been a horrible accident of her past.

With a shake of his head, the male agreed. "No, while I enjoy the proper speech from such a young lioness like yourself, I would much prefer you call me Abedari." And once he had finally introduced himself, he took a courtly bow and continued to grin.

As he returned to his normal posture, he looked the female over once more, "And what should I call you? Certainly 'a pleasant gift from the Gods' would be too dramatic?" Abedari laughed inwardly. He had to work on toning it down.

She laughed.

Fool. A shoddy gift from a lazy god, since all they gave was a chance meeting. Though she knew she was a pretty girl and this new alias was pleasant...well. Maybe that line worked in his prime but Asali found it amusing. It made her smile widen, which made her eyes narrow. When she was much older, under her fur so nobody would see, it'd probably give her what humans called laughter lines.

"Msimbo'Asali. Nice to meet you, Abedari. That means watch out and take care. Maybe I should be worried?"

Abedari shook his head with a laugh at the question. "Certainly a name is just a silly thing in which our parents call us. I would like to think you have nothing to worry about, Msimbo'Asali." In truth, he knew that his mother had given him in the name for the very opposite reason. Abedari was a troublesome youth and his mother simply worried for his own safety. Giving him the name Abedari was actually a reminder for him to take care of himself and be aware of the dangers of the roguelands. This reason, to Abedari, was not one to continue a conversation, however.

Reminding himself to speak again, the male continued to smile, still amused with the meeting of this female. It had been quite a while since he had met a female in which he could exchange curious words. Most females he met in the roguelands were frail and timid or aggressive and protective lionesses.

"But enough of names. What travels have you come across that are worthy of sharing with others? Have you found anything interesting?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 11:46 am

"Travellers talk? I know a few rumors that're traveling on the wind." She shrugged. Asali wasn't going to start talking about where she'd been. For where she'd been she wanted to forget. It was forwards, towards her future, she looked. It would be bright and brilliant she was sure, with nothing to worry her. If only she knew...

"There's a rabid hyena to the south - avoid him. There's said to be storms in the lands by the sea. And a prince has been born to the west. Which is why I must go now - I need to get there fast."

"Mayhaps we'll meet again, it has been pleasant talking with you." She nodded at him, pleasantly but vaguely dismissively. There was not prince. But there was another reason she wanted to get going. And so she started to lope away again.

(End! )
