He had been standing in the clearing alone since the moon had first appeared in the sky, watching as it made its way high into the night. It was late and he should have been nestled down with the others, guarding his herd, but he couldn't bring himself to relax. His mind was churning more than he was used to it doing. He had gotten up and he had come here... And here he still was.
Not often one to worry about the large unicorn she had initially left him to his silence, shifting to her own four hooves. She had moved quietly in the direction of prints left in the frosted forest floor, watching the stallion for a moment. He seemed so deep in thought... Almost as if he were sleeping while standing there despite his eyes being open and focused on the sky.

She had slept easier now that everyone was together and they were all safe for the moment. Her state had brought about a need for rest in her that she was not used to but was forced to take advantage of. She had slept a good part of the evening and woke to see one of their company watching the distance and another misplaced.
Pulling herself to her feet she moved carefully over to where her almost sister was. "Something troubling you Astoria?"

She stretched her wing out, brushing one of her longer flight feathers against the other mare's mouth before nodding to the clearing. She wasn't sure whether or not Telikos had heard her approach... Or whether he would hear them speaking... But she didn't want to interrupt.
She shook her head slowly. No, she wasn't the one troubled... But something seemed to be deeply on the mind of the stallion. Perhaps he was the one that the lady should be asking questions of. "He... Has not said much lately..."

"He has been thinking much lately." He had plenty to think about so she could not hold that against him. They had come here hoping to find a new start to their lives but they had not come expecting what they were given. She smiled at the other mare as she moved quietly past her. "I'll go speak to him." Astoria wasn't one to worry usually so if she was making statements then she was most likely worrying.
Stepping though the clearing quietly she leaned up and rubbed her head against Telikos' neck gently. "You are trouble White Knight..."

His brow lofted slightly as he turned his head, glancing down at the mare who, despite her roundness, seemed so much smaller than she usually did when standing by his side. He shook his head as he caught a glimpse of gold disappearing back behind the trees, leaning down to touch his nose to Alysida's cheek before glancing back up at the stars. "I have a feeling that when she told me I should seek the advice of the stars for the thoughts on my mind she meant that I should speak with her... Not that I should come out here and stare at the sky like a fool." He snorted softly, shaking his head once more.

"That could very well be the case." She leaned against him and looked out over the sky that stretched out in front of them. "Though i do not see anything wrong with seeking wisdom from those stars. Dynatos would tell you that much can be learned from them"

"Tapanga, Dynatos, Astoria..." He closed his eyes as he tilted his head, pale face bathed in the glow of the moon and the stars. Two of the three believed that those who had come before lived on in the stars to offer guidance... The other had always sought out the wisdom of the stars in other ways. They were believed to whisper to them... Why were they silent now for him?
"You should be resting."

"Did you forget already that i have been asleep the better part of the evening?" She was fat yes but she wasn't going to spend the entire time on her rump.
"What is on your mind Telikos?"

"It would be better to ask what was not on my mind, Dark Lady." He sighed, lowering his head from the stars once more. "I do not know the first thing about foals... Yet they are coming and, by the shape of you and how often you have been resting, it will be sooner than later. We will have to make preperations..." Preperations which would mean finding someone to aide her just in case something happened; someone with hands that he did not have... And baskets to keep their foals safe from the harsh winter that was not yet over.

"And you think i know anything about foals?" She laughed softly. "We have, well, a village to raise them. I have no fear that they will be well cared for and learn all that they should. You have never failed in something you set your mind to, so long as it wasn't trying to best me." she nudged him gently.

"Am I not permitted to worry?" His brow lofted slightly as he glanced at her. "Here I am trying to be responsible for something other than gathering a herd of misfits... And my lady can do nothing but laugh at me." He huffed, turning his head in an act of mock hurt.

"I was not laughing at you. You are permitted to worry. I was simply telling you that there are reasons to not worry also." She shifted a bit and walked further into the clearing.
"There is a lake not far from here. Neutral ground for normal predators. We should be fine there until the foals are born."

He followed after her, draping his head gently across her neck, letting her feel him there without putting any real weight into the lean. "We should move there come morning... I would not wake the others simply because I am awake. I still say that you should be resting. You will need your energy to keep up with them once they arrive."

"I will rest when you are not standing out here seeking answers from the sky." She wasn't all that tired any longer but she couldn't argue with the benefit of more rest. IT would be a long enough walk to the lake and she was sure to ache by the end of it.

"You, lady, drive a hard bargain." He smirked as he turned his head, lipping lightly at her mane before tugging on an ebony strand. "There is no arguing with you, is there?"
