Gaian Name: wordwarder
Character Name: Lee Wright
Age: 22
Sex: male
Race: Caucasian mostly, but his maternal grandmother was Cherokee
Birthplace: Sweet Springs, Missouri
Current Home: New York City
Occupation: musician
Appearance: about 6'1", roughly 160 lbs, athletic, shoulder-length black hair, brown eyes, tan skin. sharp features, with a slightly hawkish nose.
Personality: a bit dreamy. having come into his powers young, he's seen the world different light than others for most of his life. he's intelligent, kind, and has a sort of buddha-like quality, because he can see the content of someone's soul.
Power/Description: Lee is able to tap into the hearts and souls of others. He can read their emotional states, and influence their feelings and behaviour. He can make people experience not only the full range of human emotions, but he can make them experience physical feelings as well, like fatigue, nausea or suffocation. Though the overt changes in behaviour are temporary, he can also affect small subtle changes in character which may not even surface for a long time.
Greatest Strength: He cannot be lied to, and his power, though not as straightforward as regular telepathy, is very versatile and can let him escape most dangerous situations. His power also gives him the ability to affect a lot of good in the world, helping people with their pains and sorrows, and helping people want to better themselves and make good decisions.
Greatest Weakness: He doesn't like being in large crowds, as it has a tendency to make his mind feel a bit muddled, and overuse of his abilities leads to debilitating migraines. Also, when he's looked into someone's soul, he can never forget what he's seen, no matter how much he wants to.
Biography: Lee came into his abilities at an early age, and he is not the first in his family to have such powers. His father, a musician, had the power to prophesy the future through his music. His grandmother had the power of telekinesis, and his great-great aunt could travel through the spirit world. His father died when he was very young, but not before passing on his love of music. From then on, he was raised by his grandmother, and his mother, who had also lost her own parents early on. Not long thereafter, his abilities began to emerge, and his grandmother, knowing how her son had struggled with his powers, began to train him and guide him, teaching him responsibility and ethics. As time went on, Lee began to adjust to his powers, and his new way of seeing the world, though most people still found him a bit odd. He also continued studying music, especially singing and classical guitar. As he did so, he learned his empathic gifts seemed somewhat enhanced by his music, and he found that he could amplify and refine his control over his abilities when playing his music. One night, he had a dream in which an older woman told him to look into his father's music journals, and follow the path they led. When he told his grandmother about it, she knew it was a message from his great-great aunt, who had disappeared into the spirit world years ago. She found his father's old journals, in which he had written his prophetic songs. After having deciphered the very symbolic and poetic lyrics, Lee made his way to New York City, where he now works as a street musician, waiting for the next of his father's prophesies to come along.

Excerpt from the journal of Matthias Wright:
"In Time ______________ Oh, oh, Fate will show Oh, oh, seed will grow Oh, oh, Time will tell Stories of heaven And legends of hell
Take the sword and work the land Holding hope inside your hand Take a drink straight from the sun Thread be woven Thread undone -chorus- Truth is hidden, Truth is shown As the silver skien is sewn Cold before and cold again Wheel turns round You're where you've been. -chorus- Oh, oh, Nature will shape ill from good and good from ill All is changed, nothing lost Fire and flower, flood and frost -chorus-

Bright Lights, Big City It's been difficult to decipher the meanings of my father's songs. As, I suppose, with all things prophetic, it's harder to tell where the poetry ends and the concrete information begins. But, I know this much. I was meant to go here, to New York. I don't exactly know why. I haven't gotten that far yet, but I'm working on it. I've been doing well. I've managed to get a decently sized and--more importantly--CLEAN studio apartment, for a decent rent. (Okay, so maybe the landlord took a little..convincing to lower the rates to something more reasonable, but hey, it's not like I'm getting it free.) I've got my busking lisence, meaning, I can now play for money on the street and in public places without getting arrested. That's been paying off for me as well. I'd like to believe it's purely my talent and skill that's been bringing in the money, but I can't help but I can't help but send out a few empathic ripples when I perform. And again, I'm not telling people to give me money, they just end up feeling touched a little deeper by the songs. Anyway, I still need to figure out why I'm here. But maybe the reasons will present themselves. I'll just have to wait and see.
