Who: Micajah & RuiZhi When: Shortly before noon. Where: Outside the Chinkami mall. Why: I need to stop using this question. :B
It was a lovely day in winter, a cloud-spotted sky of brisk January air that stung the boy's lungs pleasantly. RuiZhi rather enjoyed the cooler weather, although he'd only experienced truly muggy and hot days back in China. That was all so far away now, and with his studies and tests looming, the youth really couldn't be happier.
Because it was cooler, he was dressed in a darker robe of deep russet, patterned with frawns of dark chestnut. He hadn't worn his cap today, and even his hair seemed a little looser in the waist-length braid. Scyeth would no doubt be stunned if he saw his room mate now, for it was quite possible, for the first time, that RuiZhi was relaxing.
The mall itself provided enough shelter from the wind that he didn't mind sitting on a near by bench, enjoying the scent of sea water that the obstructed breeze carried. His brown eyes rested on the far horizon, beyond the buildings and sea, lost in his own thoughts with a small smile.

He hadn't made a mistake this time as his shoes pattered against the cement, his legs carrying him towards a building in the distance. He wasn't aiming for somewhere else quite different and had ended up here by pure chance, and he wasn't hoping a fluke had actually lead him this far.
No, for perhaps the very first time since he stepped foot onto the island, Micajah knew where he was going and was actually making his way there.
He was dressed comfortably for the weather, his upper torso covered by a dark blue hoodie that hid a rather pink t-shirt. It had seemed during his last attempt at cleaning his clothes together had resulted a red getting mixed in with some whites and leaving behind a reminder, but as the youth had no other clean shirts to wear at the moment Micajah couldn't pick the option of simply throwing everything that had been stained out. He'd have to send a letter home, or to his Father at least, for more money to buy new clothes. Micajah doubted that that would go over well.
So lost in his thoughts was the youth, his thoughts mostly about school and about his upcoming request to his father, that he didn't pay attention to where he was walking as he carried himself down the path. It didn't take long for him to realize this however, when he contacted with an object that struck him hard against the knees and made him topple a bit forward.
".. .. .."
The impact of elbows on concrete wasn't really so bad, and he felt a bit more pain of embarrassment than any other kinds of pain, praying inside that no one had perhaps seen his mistake.

Unfortunately - or perhaps not - the youth's fall did not go unseen. RuiZhi hadn't really been paying much attention to the approaching figure until it suddenly...wasn't approaching anymore. He turned his head in time to see the boy hit the ground, the Chinese youth practically standing and moving towards him just as quickly. "Hey, you all right?" he asked predictably. Perhaps not as predictable, his eyes shifted over to see what had tripped him, as well as making sure no limb was sticking out awkwardly.
Reassured that it was a mere fall (all this studying was making monsters out of dust mites now, wasn't it?), RuiZhi extended his hand politely, looking at the boy curiously. He'd not seen this one before, but that wasn't unusual; RuiZhi himself was becoming somewhat reclusive, finding better company in books than people. It was a bad habit to be sure, and one he hadn't quite caught on to yet.

Oops.
Micajah slowly pushed his way upwards, not really getting so far, until he heard a soft voice call out to him and managed to catch a small hand reaching down into his line of sight. The voice he did not place among the many he'd heard each day in his classes or about the area as he tried to navigate, and Micajah didn't ever recall seeing anyone quite like the youth before him.
"Ah yes, I'm fine. Thank you very much."
Reaching up and taking RuiZhi's hand just long enough to pull himself quickly to his feet, Micajah went about the task of dusting his elbows and his knees free from the dirt that had gathered during the fall. He wasn't injured, as no part of his was stinging from the impact other than his pride.
"Sorry to bother you, I hope I didn't interrupt anything?"
His manner of speaking was like that of a door-to-door salesman, though Micajah ignored that fact as in popped into his mind to nag at him a few moments later. What had been said was said, regardless.

"S-sure, no problem," the boy smiled, refolding his hands in his sleeves as the other youth brushed himself off. At the next comment, however, RuiZhi blinked in surprise. "What?" he replied immediately, before recovering, "A-ah, n-no, no interruption. I was just...sitting." He smiled a little, uncertain if that was the correct answer to such a strange question. What a curious boy.
With a start, the boy re-extended his hand, his smile warming into a grin, "Oh excuse me, I'm RuiZhi. I don't think we've met before." The boy usually had an excellent memory for such things, but it was entirely possible that from the China event to now, he had missed many a social interaction. He missed many things when he wasn't paying attention.

Micajah smiled at the Chinese boy as he extended his own hand and took RuiZhi's into his own, squeezing it softly instead of shaking it. Micajah had never really been one for shaking hands, as he found the motion to be kind of stupid in his opinion. How did moving your arm up and down really let someone know you? He wasn't sure how squeezing was any better, but it was something he preferred to do.
"My name is Micajah, it's a pleasure to meet you. I was recently inducted into this school, so I do agree that we've never met."
He didn't see 'just recently', as some time had clearly passed since he'd first come onto this island. Time enough, in fact, for the boy to begin to master his surroundings and make his way to places without any difficulty.
"I'm glad that I didn't seem to interrupt you, as I have a rather bad habit of pushing people out of their routines. I tend not to pay attention to where I'm going either and walk into walls or other objects, so that's not really a good thing either."

RuiZhi didn't think much of the strange greeting, accepting it with a squeeze in return. He was quite foreign in comparison to most of the other students, so a little variation in introductions didn't phase him at all. The boy laughed a little at Micajah's brief explanation of himself and his antics, shaking his head with a bemused smile. "I don't get out much. Company is a good interruption, if that's what you want to consider it."
The boy folded his hands back into his sleeves, inquiring politely, "I hope I'm not interrupting anything?" He wanted to add something silly, but he dared not. He was neither comfortable enough with his lacking sense of humor nor Micajah himself to venture a joke. Only Weiyuan could garner that, and even then, only rarely.

"Oh no, you're not an interruption at all to my plans. I'd rather like to think you're a lifesaver, something is going to help prevent me from just wandering around the mall in a stupor like I was aught to do."
Micajah had been planning to go into the mall and possibly buy some thread or anything else that he could use to help make a new puppet, and this time he felt it was going to be a bit more successful as he'd remembered to bring his wallet along with the knowledge that he was heading for the mall.
In all likeliness though, chances are he'd get lost inside the mall and end up spending all of his time watching the different mall workers go about their routines with complete and rapt attention. He's mostly likely then end up staying in one place until the mall closed and he was asked to leave, return to his room empty-handed, and then realize that he is indeed empty-handed and stupid.
"I'd like to say that I don't get out much either, but it seems that lately whenever I try to get to places to be alone or accomplish something solo I find myself surrounded by others or here at the mall. It must have a homing beacon that I respond to, you know?"
He grinned, his further attempts at a joke stuck up in the air.

The youth laughed softly, a genuine and quiet noise that was appreciative and perhaps understanding. "I've...ah, had a bad experience in the mall, so I don't often go in." RuiZhi smiled a little shyly, giving a small shrug. "If that's your goal, though, I can at least keep you company, if you're up for it. I haven't been very far in, so it'd be nice to have..." a very small amount of hesitance gave brief pause to his words, "...some familiarity with the mall."
No, RuiZhi did not like the mall. Not only was it one of the best memories of Rylenn that he had, but it had...the mall girls. Ugh. Just the thought made him shudder faintly, chestnut eyes shifting towards the building as though it might suddenly grow fangs and spring upon him. Of course, it was just a building, as solid and unmoving as ever, but that didn't stop the Chinese youth from giving it a weary glance.
"I find that everytime I set to do something, my room mate decides he wants to do something 'fun.'" The boy accompanied the words with hooked fingers, something he'd seen his sister do. It was supposedly quotations marks around an emphasized word, and it seemed appropriate now. "I enjoy the work though, so I'm not sure which is less desirable."

A bad experience, huh? Wonder what that could be.
Micajahs' curiosity was piqued, admittedly, when RuiZhi mentioned he'd had trouble in the mall, but the politeness that was soaked into his bones prevented him from trying to dig into that sect of information. It was neither his place nor his need to know, even more so in the fact that he barely knew the child-like teen that stood before him.
Glances said more than words, he reminded himself, and perhaps as he caught the look that RuiZhi gave in the buildings direction, part of him felt the need to not go inside...for now. At least, not with his current companion of choice in tow. Micajah had every thought in mind to show the most respect he could towards this new acquaintances feelings, as he didn't want another incident of someone blowing up at him.
"If it would make you uncomfortable to go in there for whatever reason, I wouldn't mind returning here some other time. I've actually mastered this place in my list of locations so it's not really an issue of returning here."
The issue lies in me being able to accomplish the task at hand.
When the subject of the conversation shifted towards RuiZhi's unknown roommate and the things they seemed to do, Micajah couldn't help by smile and feel a little bit of envy. He had a room of his own, probably thanks to his Father, and sometimes missed the company of another. Even the thought of waking up or sharing a space with a complete stranger was sort of preferable to sleeping in an empty space void of the life of another.
Sort of also made him wish he had a pet.
"Must be good though, to know you'll always have something to do as a back-up. I think the ability to have someone to do things with, even if they're a problem beyond belief, is much better than keeping to one's own agenda."

RuiZhi inclined his head to Micajah. There was no point in arguing that he'd be fine going in, as firstly, he probably wouldn't be fine, and secondly, he really didn't know the young man well enough to convince him otherwise. Or, perhaps, he didn't know his own thoughts on the situation well enough to be convincing enough.
He smiled a little sadly at the thought, listening to the other boy speak. The look of wistfulness quickly melted into surprise and consideration. Must be good? "Well..." RuiZhi thought of Scyeth and all his essentrics, along with Banish and his purring presence. The skateboarding, the video games, the general need for a trend that the Chinese boy was so lost on it was beyond his grasp...was it nice? ...better than keeping to one's own agenda. Wasn't that what he'd been doing all this time?
"Maybe so," he mused outloud, a little more receptive to the idea of his unruly room mate. "I like the time to myself, but I suppose...it can be nice." He owed Scyeth another round of that crazy rolling game. That would make him happy. With a small smile, RuiZhi turning his attention back upon Micajah, rather than his own inward considerations. "You should come by some time. I'm usually studying and he's usually bored, but it'd be nice to--" Get out more? Have a distraction? No... "--make some new friends."

"I'm a little jealous I must admit. I've never shared a space with anyone before, let alone a room, so I often wonder what it feels like to be in such a connection with someone else...so I may have to take you up on that offer. Sometime."
Micajah added the 'sometime' on the end with a little hesitation, trying hard to make himself neither overeager or uninterested. It was hard to pick and use the correct choices in regards to someone he'd just met without causing some sort of strife.
While it was sort of a goal of his to meet every student in the school before too long, he didn't want to make it so over-apparent.
"So you like to study? What are you favorite areas?"

"We would like that," RuiZhi smiled quietly, again choosing to keep to himself on the matter of having a roommate. He'd been bunked with his brother before, and now Scyeth...initially he was uncertain of the exuberant blonde, but now, he wasn't entirely sure what he'd do without him.
The Chinese tilted his head back in thought, gazing at the sky for a moment before retuning his earthen brown eyes to Micajah. "Anatomy, I think. The way everything works...theories, ideas, all relating to the body. I'm studying to be a doctor." He added the last part to make himself not sound like a complete and total lunatic. Normally, he never would have thought his words strange, but spending time with Scyeth had taught him a few things about suggestion and 'innuendo.'
"Languages was fun," he ammended after a moment, "but favorite is definitely anatomy." RuiZhi smiled a little. Maybe he could be personable after all, given the right person in return. "How about yourself, Micajah? Do you have an area of interest?"
