After an emotional year with the Washington Redskins ended with a first round loss to Seattle, Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs decided to cut his second term as head coach short and resigned earlier today.

Gibbs promised he would get the Redskins back to the Superbowl, but after his first three seasons of his 5 year deal, he produced only two playoff appearances, going 1-2 in the post season.

Your one of the greatest of all times Joe Gibbs, may you have great sucsess in your future endevours.

Hall of Famer.

Great overall season + playoff record.

Won 3/4 Super Bowls he's coached in.

Did a great job with the Redskins after Sean Taylor incident, and leading them into the playoffs during that great stretch as of recent.

...I was not surprised though, I saw it coming.

Well Gibbs just resigned from being Redskins head coach. He will have some other authoritative job up high for Washington.

I am a huge redskins fan, I love Gibbs. It IS time for a new coach. I know the redskins just need a REAL FRESH start.

Plus if you actually watched the interview @ 3 p.m. today. Eastern Time, he said He doesn't want to be part of the NFL anymore. He is 67 year's old and he was losing time with his family. He wanted his real family more then any thing now. He said he was truly done.

It will be interesting to see how much of that family time is with the family at home or how much of it is at places like Daytona Motor Speedway, and Darlington and Bristol...etc.

Granted his son for the most part ran his race teams while he was with the Redskins this 2nd time so well that is being with the family I guess lol

Well, isn't he now the administrator to the owner, still with the Washington Redskins? I think I'm sure about that...?

Campbell is a young QB with potential, but I don't know how he'll do, once Gibbs and his offensive style is out.

Cowher is out of the question to coach, because he said he doesn't want to coach in 2008. I really think that they should appoint their defensive coordinator as their new head coach. He's done great things with that team.
