I think she would have retired and left.
And in the novels, since she was already retired, she probably would have gone back to whatever she did before. After all, she did retire because of unresolved feelings for Abel. No one likes being near the object of their unrequited affection if they're trying to get over them. A single flower

Possibly. But then again, other characters in the anime, such as Asta, notice his "hidden feelings" for Esther. *shrug* It's a 50-50 thing, really.

I really don't think it would work. I don't know why, but I just can't see Abel being with any girl in the anime or manga, except perhaps Lady Caterina. Ehhh...then again, that's just me. Personally, I simply can't stand any of the female characters (except Lady Caterina) in Trinity Blood. I don't know...I guess most (if not all) of them strike me as Mary-Sues... sweatdrop

They're about as far removed from Mary-Sue's as you can get.
