Alas moved quietly through the forests that the pack called their own and while her mind was burdened by the many things that had been happening around her she was at ease. At ease because she was looking for the plants and roots she would need to heal. Nothing soothed her soul quite like the art she enjoyed so much, the pleasure of taking away someones pain of aiding another. There was no greater joy for her then to discover the best methods, someday perhaps she would run across a shaman, one well seasoned and working for a pack. She hoped that they would impart their knowledge and improve the skills she had managed to aquire.

He head was low between her shoulders, not in submission but to smell the roots that she needed. Her tail brushed to and fro across the terrain behind her the white tip sending a little cloud of dust up. She hummed softly to herself little reminders of what to look for things she had created for herself as a pup when a fever raged or pain became too intense. Now they were just caressing reminders of the things that had saved her.

Mud free for this day, the young male relaxed under his favorite willow. The low branches seemingly engulfing him in a warm hug that was embued by the shadows that danced about with the low branches. The male was enjoying his day of being alone to the full extent, that was up to the point the shadows made a low inaudible hiss, though to any other ears, it was just a cool breeze.

Emerald eyes and head popping up, Adolfo shot to his paws. The male looked around swiftly, not even making a whisper in the trees he ghosted about, though he knew that the pink healer was in the woods already.

Pushing through the willow's branches, the teen moved, for once, towards the other. There was something that he and Twist and discussed, but Adolfo knew it would also be good to have another healer in the area for any odd reason. Besides, the shadows only spoke so much to him, and right now they told him that he needed to understand the basics if he wanted to help more in the long run.

The lumincent emerald eyes gleamed in the silent form. Adolfo moved swiftly through the trees and he could make out the humming of an odd tone not too far away. In fact, he glided up to the pink healer in dead silence.

"Libenalas?" he questioned, the humming form with the same vocal tone of his brother and gruff father, but Adolfo's tone was smoother, nightly smooth.

Alas slowly looked up and frowned softly, while she had enjoyed aiding Kattana and soothing the she wolf, the pink healer did hold her sons in the same affections.

"Yes?" She replied with her usual silky tone, but the warmth that Alas so often shared with others was held back for this male. Until he showed her he was not corrupt like some of their pack, she would share none of her usual sweetness. The pink healer was finally tired of trying to play nice with the ones who worked against her.

Deep down Alas felt the time was coming close, she would need to leave this pack soon, perhaps before the male before her grew to adulthood, she would be away. Still...as she examined him with her soft blue eyes she found herself glancing also at the shadows. It was as if they were extensions of him, strange so very strange, but she shook it off. How often did she feel as if a wound spoke to her the bad blood struggling to survive while she urged the good to defeat it. Some things could not be explained, it didn't make them any less real or true. She knew one truth though, this male of the darkness would not have greeted her if he didn't want something.

Adolfo could hear absolutely nothing but dry air come out of the bright she-wolf's mouth at her simple word. The male didn't play sides, he had no reason to actually hold any wolf, besides his brother and mother, higher then another. Even with the occassional hissing of the shadows towards the bright pink color in their home.

Adolfo figured that mentioning Wazaam or Twist wouldn't be a good idea, that would make the she wolf skeptic of his presence before her, but how would he know if Alas knew his mother. Never hurt to try, "I'm Adolfo, one of Kattana's, a black and tan wolfess, sons. I don't know if you know my mother or not, but she isn't too healthy and maybe, since you're Aqua Azul's healer, you could teach me a couple different herbs and ways to use them. Especially if you know a herb that might help with depression." This was actually a concern of the teenager, he would love to be able to tell Wazaam to give their mother something to help, in the light day.

However, Adolfo, having paid attention to those that traveled through these woods, shrugged, "Though I know you're probably busy with gathering supplies before a heavy frost falls through the forest and kills off anything good. So I would understand if you said no." His smooth voice, soft, calm and virtually innocent.

Alas nodded softly at Adolfo's tone and words, she gave a slight smile at mention of Kattana, but frowned when Adolfo mentioned her being depressed.
"I've met your mother...and helped her with another problem she had, I havent seen her since though...I thought she had left the pack..."

Alas snapped back up to attention her thoughts away from Kattana for the moment. "You needn't play coy...I've had enough of that...I know your close to your brother which means that either Twist told you what to do or say or she told your brother to tell you what to do or say. Don't think I don't know why Twist wants me to teach you, your young, you have the ability in you already...I can sense it, you just need the help so you won't blunder. Why do you need to learn, because I won't be here...even if I wanted to stay Twist wants me dead...or gone...or both.

Alas let out a soft snort and sighed. "I'm sorry...I'm afraid it's all put me in a bit of a mood...I'm sure your not some mindless idiot...You want to help your mother too...I like to think theres good in everyone. I will teach you, not for Twist, but because I suppose I care what happens to a pack I called my own once I leave...because if I'm not here who will help the females deliver their pups safely...who will heal the small injuries that seem so simple and become so deadly? Who will care? I can only hope that by teaching you, I can also teach you the compassion and care needed to heal...and hope you wont twist it into the blind hatred required to harm."

Looking at Alas, Adolfo listened to her snap, for being such a bright she-wolf, she seemed to have lost the exact thing that the purest of the shadows screeched over. "My mother doesn't have the strength to walk far, she has something that boogles her mind down and she won't talk to anyone about. Not even her mate, who she loves with all her beating heart." Adolfo stated rather bitterly.

The male had seen her, she had the fight back in her after speaking with his brother, but the fight always lost out to her past. "I'm not a pawn of Twist," he growled, it was the truth, Adolfo had spoken to the alpha only once, but her intentions were not his. The young male wanted to learn to actually help his brother, mother and at least one friend in the pack, then anyone else if they needed it.

"I am close to my brother, but that doesn't make me a pawn for him or her. I'm pleasant to all, because I'm just as perceptive as you. Simple twitches can give away even the most noble actions as an ill-temptation." The teen spoke with words and phrases far above his years.

"I'll tell you the truth, Twist doesn't care much for you, the shadows cringe from the bright air about you, but if you are leaving, please leave at least alittle knowledge behind to at least help those that are caught in the cross fire." Adolfo growled in defense. "Anything that is spoken here, won't go past us," and as he said that the air just got a bit thicker as if forming a wall to prevent words being carried on the air.

"Besides, not a single soul is more stealthier then I in these woods, unless it is that shaman who lurks about talking to the trees. But she is a kind soul and one that doesn't bother others, and I can assure you she knows absolutely nothing about Twister." The male finished his statements, and listened to the femme's last words.

Listening to her words and calming himself, Adolfo recognized the burst of anger, "Sorry, myself. I have a very defensive father and it seems his blood runs thick through my viens. However, my mother, who has one of the warmest hearts around, is full of compassion, I'm sure with that it will help with catching on quickly." Adolfo wasn't about to say anything about Twist wanting pups with his brother, but anything that Alas taught him, he would store for the seasons to come.

"Your mother is good...she dosn't deserve to be caught up in any of this, and I suppose she feels as she does because your family seems to have..." She trailed off uncertainly, no family deserved to break apart but it seemed to her that this one had. Deep down she was sure they each felt the bonds, sister, brother, father, mother...but each seemed determined or forced to solitude.

"I will teach you, if I could help everyone I would, but I'm sure there are those too stubborn to ask for help or those who don't even realize they need it. Now...lets see before I start I would like to know what you've already picked up? I believe..." She stoped and glanced about at the shadows before moving to slowly circle adolfo her pink and white coat a stark contrast in the shadowed forest.

"Yes I do believe you are destined for..." She smiled and shook her head. "I will share with you, for you will have the help of many. Now then as I was saying, what knowledge do you already possess? What skill would be most valuable to you?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 3:00 pm

"Fallen apart, yes, I know. There are extreme differences between us all and the most I can say is, at least each one of us seem to have another to lean on, if it was needed." Adolfo stated, hopeing that his mother would let, regretably, his father back into her closed off heart.

Adolfo had taken to being a lone male, stalking the night because that was where things felt right. Even if he missed out on his family and close relatives, well atleast during the day time hours he had crosses paths with others in this dark forest. Raising his head a bit at Alas' proclaimation, the teen's tail began to wag.

"Thank you, and in truth, you are but one wolf, you can't race across Telk saving everyone. That is why there are Shaman around and other healers." He re-informed Libenalas, sensing that something brought on that little brief spew.

Aware of the healer circling Adolfo thought, what did he know? He knew...the shadows about pulled away and seemed to drift towards one of the roots that Alas seemingly had searched for. "I can find roots, but after finding them, I don't know what they do," Adolfo spoke outloud watching the and listening to the shadows hovering in the middle of a clearing, though they spread back out in a soft blanket.

"And the help of many? What's that suppose to mean?" the young male asked suddenly turning his eyes towards Alas.

Alas chuckled and nodded. "Well what I mean is I have a feeling your not finding roots with your nose...you have a skill and shamans and other healers...it will be good to have another nearby." She smiled softly letting her paranoid tense state drift away. It was clear to her that this teen thought for himself and she was curious about the type of male he would grow into. The darkness that lingered around him didn't make her worry, instead she was certain she would have another which with to share her knowledge and skill.

"In truth finding what roots do is a mixture of trial and error and scent...I never tested a plants leaf or root, flower or fruit on a patient. Some things are good in small doses and others can seem harmless while in truth being deadly. I spent a great deal of my childhood being sick for testing small and large doses of all I came across. Luckily you will only have to do that with anything new you find." She smiled and nodded crouching and nosing the root that was still in the ground.

"This...smells of nothing but dirt, it seems like such a tiny useless thing...but if you dug around it and pull it out whole..." She moved her paws carefully around and scooped up the spiderlike root. "This is not only tasty, but it can aid whatever ails the stomach, it causes mild vomiting when theres something wrong and when there isn't any problem it seems to give strength and nutrition."

Alas moved to drop the plant infront of Adolfo. "The scent is unique but it looks similar to many others, you'll need to learn to tell the differences."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 9:17 pm

With a small twist of his maw, he shrugged, "Not exactly." He confessed, but was glad to see the femme's defenses break down a bit, at least he wasn't having to prove his motives of learning to be different then that of Twist's.

"You learned all this when you where younger. Was your parents not concerned everytime you fell ill?" This the teen could sympathize with, but he had only fell ill with the common colds and stuff to build up his immune system. Never had he seemed to eat the wrong thing, he always had assumed it to be a sixth sense, even one time when he killed a raccoon. He made sure not to tast it's blood, not until after killing it did Adolfo see the foaming mouth and insane look in the dead eyes.

Snapping back to reality, Adolfo moved over to look at the root that Alas had unearthed. "Anything that I find that you haven't cleared, or that of others, I'll be sure to test before possibly giving it to another. I wouldn't want to kill my mother or brother on accident."

Sniffing the root, Adolfo put the scent to memory. "That one will be hard to forget if anything. And it is good for upset stomachs, but then again if you eat and you're well it gives strength." That root was going to stick in the young male's mind and he was going to make sure of it.

However, he then trotted over to the spot where the shadows had flattened back out and shifted through the dirt. Looking for whatever they had pointed out. "I think there is something here, but as I said, I'm not familiar with the roots, just their location."

Alas frowned softly at the mention of her parents and gazed down at the root for a long moment. "My parents and siblings were dead...I'm sure if I had died no one would have cared or noticed but the earth that took me." Her tone was soft but certain, no trace of anger or sadness, a simple fact to her.

"You get used to learning when you've done something wrong and fixing it quickly, the trouble is you can't test it so easily when your sick because you won't be able to shake off a mistakeas quickly...it could be your last." She nodded.

"Things like learning to set broken bones is simple...its enduring a wriggling howling furious patient thats the trouble." She walked over to where he had found something.

She gently scratched around the earth carefully uncovering it. "Ahh this one...yes its a bit harder to find, but this." She tugged it up with care the root small.
"I didn't think it had any use, but I discovered quite by accident that it takes the sting away from cuts, the thing it it only works when its crushed up so you need to collect enough of it to cover the cut. It also seals cuts, not huge gaping wounds, but many cuts. You have to make sure the area is clean before you seal it though...seal in dirt and such and you could cause more damage."

She sat down and looked at him. "Pure cold clear water is what you need most of the time to clean wounds, and to give to your patients so they don't dehydrate."

Emerald orbs looked towards the frown and ears welted abit. She had no family. "Oh, sorry, I didn't know," he tried desprately to correct the wrong in his words, "I doubt that holds true now. I'm sure someone would notice if you disappeared now if you dissappeared." Adolfo yammered like the teenager he was uncertain about what he spoke.

Taking her next sentence and plugging that to memory as well, after all a dead healer was a useless healer right? Eh, well at least Alas seemed to have learned alot and he wouldn't have to find out everything exactly by himself.

"Setting broken bones, that sounds difficult, but if the other is wiggling and yowling, can't you use something to sedate them?" the teen questioned, not really caring much for fighting someone to exactly heal them. Even if the patient was in emmence pain.

Looking down at the root uncovered Adolfo took the shape and scent in as well. "Good for cuts, clean wound, cruched roots sprinkled and pure, cold, clear water to keep patient hydrated. Alright, that seems simple enough as well, just finding the root itself will be the tricky part, as you said, I'll try to remember that."

Alas brushed aside his stammering and smiled giving a soft shrug. "I have the pack now..." Technically she had both packs but she didn't want to dicuss those matters with Adolfo she preferred to keep him in her mind as another healer and maybe someday a friend.

"You can sedate them but sometimes its better to have them with their wits about so you know when your doing something wrong, if they have a sudden feelings you dont want them too drugged to tell you about it." She streached her front leg out before him and nosed two sections.

"Up here you have to be careful and set something to keep it straight while it heals, you have to tug it into place but there is no warning sound you must judge with care, set it wrong and there could be a limp for life...or worse." She nosed lower at her paw. "Injuries here must be set and tied up, your patient will be on three legs or laying down until its healed up...often its only a strain and you don't want to yank it and make it worse."

She pulled her paws back up and twisted her head to nose her shoulder. "Here you will hear a popping sound...this is the easiest I think...just requires warmth at night and exercise to keep it from getting stiff." She smiled and watched as he absorbed everything. "If your patient is wildly in pain there is a flower with six petals it is colored like the sky when the sun falls, soak it in water and give them the water...they will sleep as if dead for a day and wake with a dry mouth, but there will be no pain for them for at least two or three days...it must not be given to pups though!"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:37 pm

"Yeah, you're right. So lesson continued?" Adolfo righted back up. As if saying that never happened, and let's say we have only spoke about roots and healing stuff.

"So sedating is good sometimes, but bad because you don't know how your patient is truely feeling." There was alot being shared and Adolfo felt like he should have been scrawling it into the bark of a tree for future or nightly reference. Then he looked at the placed that Alas was pointing to with her snout.

"Setting broken calfs straight, you could use small sticks for that, right? Like a splint, same with the wrist, but you would need three plus strong binding material. Though the material would need to be able to easily break off one the limb is healed. Am I right?" Adolfo asked, testing what common knowledge could be played in the first lesson to healing.

Then when the pink she-wolf moved to explain about the shoulder, Adolfo's ears perked up. "Popping sound, exercise and warmth. Easy enough, or so it sounds like. Flower with six petals, night flower, soak in water and give to pained patient, not pups though." He whispered and looked towards the bright green evergreen needles that shimmered with the day sun, "I'll try to find those tonight, so I can find them when I might actually need them."

Alas smiled and nodded glad as Adolfo soaked up the information. "Yes exactly, you don't want to sedate anyone until you know whats going on details are important." The pink healer looked around and shook her head not seeing the materials she wanted to show him.

"There is a type of vine that sometimes grows down trees, more often near water its very strong to hold a splint together if its wrapped and tied properly, but springy enough that it won't hurt them with pressure. It's also easily snapped off with a little chewing once their all healed up, it starts green and turns brown." She nodded softly "Just about any strong bark or twig will do as long as you arent letting it splinter and rub their limbs, then you have sores to contend with."

She smiled and slowed her tone to let him absorb. "Sores are difficult because they must not become too moist or sickness grows, infection. Yet they must not be too dry or they will peel and spread...I will find the leaf you must rub over a sore...it only grows after light rains in the skirts of the forest and sadly it doesn't keep long." She gazed at him and chuckled. "I shouldn't overwhelm you...we shall leave it at this for now...in a day I shall return to you with a few new things to show you, and you see what you can find to ask me about...I will think on what to do for your mother."
