My band director hates me because I can't do practice. It's not that I'm a bad marcher, I'm one of the best freshman marchers we have, but I have heat exaushtion problems. I drink plenty of water, but since we don't get breaks unless it's close to 100 degrees I pass out a lot, more than 5 times this season. Does anyone have tips for me?

My only suggestion is to really talk to your director and try to come to an agreement, such as you'll go to practice, but you'll be able to sit out once in a while, so you don't pass out but you still get practice.

I asked him if I could sit out every now and then, but he said it would be unfair and I have to deal with it or quit, and I refuse to quit.

I can only say this that even if he does give you a hard time is just bare through it. It was hard for me last year too because I was a freshmen last year and my band director hated me to, but I showed him that I could deal with everything and still be a better marcher then most of the upper classmen. So just bare through it. It can only ge better over the years. I'm so sorry if I wasn't any help, but that's what I would do.

The only people he likes are seniors and juniors, and prodigies, which I am not. I just hope he doesn't kick me out. I asked to be put in the pit cause I can play their part (I tried and it was simple) but he told me he didn't have time to teach me. I hate being anemic.
