First off, let me say that on the anime listed, I'm either getting a different (better, mostly) dub, or watched it subbed. As for the manga, it's all translated stuff. Also, this is my opinion, and I'm always biased towards anime.
Anyway, I don't think there's a winning side in that "battle," even with bias.
There's stories that have awesome anime versions, but when checking the manga, I feel like the anime's plot fell into a pool of crack, got into a car and was arrested for DUI. Examples: Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura.
There's others where the manga is clearly better than the anime. Examples: Ranma, Evangelion, Yuu Yuu Hakusho...
And there's some cases where while different, manga and anime are equally good. Examples: Kimagure Orange Road, Rurouni Kenshin...
So, you may like one over the other, but I don't think one will overpower/overthrow the other anytime soon. Manga needs anime to be widespread (most people know the anime before they know the manga exists,) and anime needs manga to even exist (there's few, counted cases of anime that didn't have a manga first.)
Main reason I' m not a big fan of manga, is that it's not easy to get in my country, and while reading scans online is cute, I'd rather have the manga itself in my hands. Also, action-oriented manga always lose in my mind to their anime version, because I like to watch the action rather than imagine it in my mind.
So, to sum it up, I prefer anime, but I'm not dismissing manga. It'd be like liking the chicken but hating the egg.

I'm not a whole purist but I normally choose manga over anime (like how I prefer BROADWAY/video games over movies).
You're completely correct, I normally check out the manga after anime unless I look up the genre that I like. Its still fun to see characters in action.
The equal attraction only appears when the anime follows the manga, it doesn't have to be exact - but very close (Saiyuki). I normally ignore any CLAMP manga turned anime. They always seem to put even more fanservice, if that is possible.

Personally, I perfer manga over anime. While there's several series' anime or manga equally, I only have a few anime I like over the manga.

I choose anime over manga they are funner when you're kicking it with friends and I enjoyed watching Hellsing OVA than reading Hellsing Manga so I'd rather watch something but it sucks that some anime aren't good adaptions or complete adaptions (berserk)

I know that a lot of people like manga more than anime, but I like the anime (generally). This is because of colour sound effects, and I think it flows better. I feel that I can really get to know the characters if I can hear their voices and stuff...
But manga is still good, but I'm a slow reader so it takes me some time.

I would have to say that I like the animes more. I like mangas too but not as much. I like to see the action and hear all the sound effects.
