Recently I participated in a contest in someone's shoppe.
I've been there before mind you, ordered things, talk to others etc.
However, the entire time of this contest I was ignored by the self-appointed bumpers to the girl's shoppe every time I said "hello", "how are you?" or anything conversational, they would either just keep bumping or start a conversation among themselves, when I tried to put my opinion in they completely over looked anything I said.

I barely know these girls and I just felt like I wasn't meant to be there the entire time, I felt terrible, as if I was imposing myself on their "turf."
I finally left the thread and left telling them the only time I'll come back to that thread is to order stuff, other than that, I didn't like it there, I didn't feel welcomed.

One told me she was sorry, and the other just gave the stare look, It's almost laughable how inconsiderate people can be.
Ever happened to any of you on Gaia?

Every thread i post in in the GCD? >>;

I hung out in a 1k = 1g shop for a while, and felt entirely unwanted. Basically for the same reasons as you. Everyone ignored me, and everyone had been there longer than i had. Eventually i just left.

But yeah, i hate when people ignore you. It's like, i took the time to post in your thread, the least you could do is answer me.

That's exactly how I feel.
It's like: "Hey, I'm adding popularity to your thread, the least you can do is talk to me like I exist."
-le sigh-
Of course now they are hurt by what I said, I do not know what to say without making the situation worse.

I hate that. D:
An old guild I was in used to be like that. It was pretty much four or five close knit friends talking. It made me so pissed, I eventually just quit the damn thing. xD

Ugh.. I agree. The GCD is a place full of uptight asses :/ I hate going there... They always judge you on your avatar =o= It's retarded.

Spackle; Yeah, I've joined a few guilds like that.
It's irritating just for the fact that if I spent any gold to join the guild I instantly want my gold back. xD

Asashina; I went there once. Once.
I was asked to give my password so people can wear my clothes on Gaia.
I was then preceded with scam private messages and hate mail.

I too, have encountered that on Gaia. It's especially common with older threads that have regulars, or guilds that have older members who always. It almost makes me want to say, "And do you want to know why you don't have any new members? BECAUSE YOU IGNORE THEM!" It can be really frustrating when you're trying to post somewhere and people are totally ignoring your posts. It's like you're not important enough to be welcomed. When that happens to me, I usually just give up and leave.

I used to run a charity, the SFC, and every time someone new posted, I always made sure to say at least "hello". Because of this, a lot of my regulars followed my lead and welcomed any new person who wanted to say something into the conversation. A lot of new people used to comment on that and mention how surprised they were at how easily it was to join in. So I think a lot of it depends on the attitude of the thread/guild owner. If you're kind and pleasant to new people, then most times, people will follow your lead. If you're not, well, guess what happens? Being a thread/guild leader means setting a good example, but some people don't, and it's very unfortunate. Threads or guilds that never have new members usually die.

I am so sorry that happened to you. People can be tools sometimes.

I just don't understand what is up with elitism and cliques. I try to include everyone who is in a guild or one of the regular threads I am in, as long as they are intelligently contributing.

AHH! The ATers! D: (Not anything to do with the avi arena. xD ) AT= Avatar Talk

They act like old people, champion dog breeders, and rich kids, all at once. D: That's why I stopped going there. Because I was none of the above. O.O It's insane! All the elite/good ones have been there since the beginning before TekTek. And now that the AT has been overrun with TekTek threads, they're complaining that they should have their own subforum for TekTek threads. You're already a subforum you dumbasses. D< And they're all, "You don't need TekTek. Back in my day we didn't have TekTek! We don't use TekTek, so why should you?" D<

Maybe we aren't all so ******** rich, you dumbasses. Ever thought of that? D< And then they just look down upon you. So much. If there's only one item that you're still questing for for a certain outfit that's expensive and it's the only one that will do, they say, "OH! That's HORRIBLE!! 1/1o."
And then you say you're questing that item and such. Then they're all, "Well how about you do this and this and this..." And then they change your outfit completely to where it's something they made, and you didn't. D<

AHH! Sorry. Long post. o.o

Well, I do run a slightly older thread but I always made it a habit to talk to new people. I just do that. So do my second-in-commands. They help me talk to new people, though I do admit my old regulars never really did :/

My thread died because I stopped going to it. I was told I was literally "the heart of the thread" and I was. After my grandma died, I just stopped going entirely. I'm gonna try to bring it back, though x3 Me and my twins have been thinking about bringing it back.

@Nerd: I know! Dx I've almost gotten scammed a few times v.v; It's like "Grrrrrr earn your own items ho D<"

I am one of the old people that existed before TekTek xD! I find it easier for me because I can take a look at every item that exists on Gaia and make an outfit out of it, and not be just limited to my own stuff x3 So I think TekTek is a good thing, not a bad thing X3

redface

I am sorry. *tear* It is just with all the tektek threads, it gets hard to find ones you like. Thats why I really support "Cleaning up the AT" I guess I am one of those old dog can't learn new tricks. I just don't use tektek, I never have. I would rather use my inventory. But I do understand not everyone can have a big inventory, I just wish didn't have to see 20 tektek threads every time I go in the AT.

I think a lot of the problems people have with AT'ers is a misunderstanding. People think, "they are judging us and giving harsh rates" but what people need to remember is that you asked for said rate.
If it wasn't for the AT being brutally honest over the years, I don't think I would make nearly as good avatars and I know I would have never placed in the arena.

But if I saw you in the AT, I would give you nothing but love. heart

I hate ordering things at shops like that because they talk and ignore you.
Same with entering contests.
In any of my threds, I try to say hello at least.

I hate ordering art period!

I ask for art and I give them the gold and they blow me off.

This has happened to me 3 times! Dx So I only ask for free art. That way I won't get gypped D<

Well, I am part of this give-away topic and I think I am a regular there and sometimes I will go there and post and say hi and I'll ask how they are and no one will answer me!! Even though I normally talk to them a lot, they just seem to ignore me. And one time, I posted saying hi and then a while later, another person will post hi (Someone that is more of a regular) and then people will talk to them but not me!!! It bugs me a lot.

Most people in the Gaia forums are rude and inconsiderate. That's why I mostly stick to guilds. Well, this guild mostly!
