Ahhh, Scratos. The land of eternal plains, the land of the sun, the land of magic. The lack of trees brings about a cool summer breeze this fine afternoon as you travel towards Xiomara. Travel has been long from the ports to the east, but the travel was easy and light, thanks to the generous ride given by the food merchants in the back of their wagon. Now the plateau city of magic, Xiomara, awaits ahead in the distance, with it's tall walls creeping up the cliffs. Just outside the city, a great many colorful tents have been put up for the annual Arcane Festival, spanning over an area twice the city's size. In the middle of the tents, a tall tower has been erected for an event. This is the jewel of Scratos, and the reason for which you have come; the festival only happens once a year, during the Fifth Revolution of the Ninth Moon, and is the gathering place for every mage strewn across Vidaheim. The chance to test learned knowledge, and the chance to learn anew.
As you walk, you can see off in the distance many other groups heading in the same direction, gathering in front of the city gate. Overhead, a huge dragon claps its wings as it races towards the city, a large satchel tightly wrapped around its neck. The dragon lightly touches down a mile ahead of you, and casually changes its form to join the crowd at the gates. The wagon bounces slightly on the well paved road, and within a few minutes, you too will join that crowd and enter the 3075 Xiomara Arcane Festival...

The gnome, who was laying on her back with her arms behind her head, blinked lazily at the passing dragon. She adjusted the hood of her orange tunic to make it not-so-tight to get a better look. She had never seen a dragon before, and seeing it fly by so casualy nearly scared her out of her wits.
"What on earth was that?"
She sat up and spun around to watch the dragon land, tightening the black wraps that covered both of her arms.

Guy rides up, watching the town from nearby. He takes a moment to look around at he people. At their wonderment, their excitement, their entertainment. "Huh...it's been a while since I've been in such a large group of people...no time like the present, I guess. What do you two think?" The horses just whinnied. Guy, satisfied with the response, took up the reins and snapped them gently, getting the horses to walk slowly towards Xiomara and eventually joins the crowd.

Heoskant wanders the festival, taking in all the shops and entertainment. He searches for good reading material in particular, though anything that catches his high may be worth investigating. Or perhaps a chance to pit his skills against another's.

It's not hard to worm through the crowd, but it is the main gate into the city, so all sorts of people and creatures litter the area. A pit fiend nudges against a hobgoblin, and a small argument breaks out. Everyone is here for the same reason, it doesn't seem to matter what race you were or plane you're from. Through the gates you can see the festival, with it's brightly colored tents and flags, and quite a ways away from it are a separate set of tents and carrages; a Halfling outpost. Nearer to the festival now that you ever were before, you can smell the potions, the spell components, the acrid smell of something burning.
Unless you brought a tent, in the city is where you will most likely find a place to sleep for the long month ahead of you.
5er [Who's already in the festival] - There's a lot to see, but doesn't seem to be any decent reading material. Most of the stalls are selling wands, potions, and scrolls. A few have even opened up and started selling magical 'toys', like a wooden sword that coats itself in harmless fire. There seems to be a thousand conversations going off at the same time over the festive music in the background. Children and adults of all ages scurry about, looking at the wares from different guilds. A tall elven woman changes into a silver dragon, craning its long neck up to try and find something. This sudden change has several people shrink away, and the countless guards become edgy.
With this much magic in one place, something will go wrong. The guards keep searching about, looking inside trash barrels, like they've all lost the same thing.

Maintains his course. He wants to get in as much as anybody. Once in the city, Guy begins to look around for a safe place to put his horses and cart before he starts window shopping.

5er- Several silver clockwork devices have been put on display, all of which require a key to wind it up. Some of the more expensive ones sport elaborate illusionary faces to display the time.
ZJM- [The main part of the city seems to have a stable, if you can find room there.]

Guy traverses the streets, wading through the crowd with his horses until he finally comes across a stable. He pushes through the crowd to the stables and looks around for a stable hand.

Skiev tops a rise approaching the city and reins in his horse. "What'd'ya think May? A little bigger than we're used to; think we'll find anything?" The little black cat paws at the reins. He chuckles, "Alright, we're going."
Once inside the city, he begins browsing through the booths, keeping to the older, more decrepit-looking stalls. He asks the vedors that catch his eye(for whatever reason) about spells that don't use the typical "natural" types of energy.

[Sorry 'bout the wait ^^j]
ZJM- The stable hand seems slightly releived that someone brought a normal mount in there. He bows, and asks a few questions relating to the care of the horse. In the background, a purple wurm grunts as it yanks on it's chain, and a nightmare snorts a small burst of fire, setting the hay on the ground aflame. Several other stable hands rush around with buckets, and without any hesitation, one of them throws their bucket at the fire, putting it out.
TV- The thri-kreen puffs slowly on his hookah, looking at you as if you're trying to insult magic by calling any of it unnatural.

Skiev sighs, "Shoudv'e known such a short-lived creature wouldn't understand the obscure magics.", he says in Sylvan. "Lets try a more knowledgeable race of vendor shall we? Then we'll see about lodging, eh May?" Not going to be able to afford anything too nice though, he thinks.
He moves deeper into the city, studying the various facilities and the occupants.
[Are there any brochures or schedules of events posted for the services & activities available aside from the vendors?]

Guy answers the stable hand as much as he could, paying the man for a couple days stay in the stables. He was rather fond of the festival and liked to look around at what the surroundings and the participants had to offer. His first objective: Go and see what's on sale! 8D
