Ezekiel had been right. They had reached the den somewhat quickly, and it was not far off from her family den. He had been right in telling her of its size, it was big enough to hold a few large families. She wondered who spent their time here, other than those that her nephew had talked about. Mia was currently alone, wandering in the shadows of the den, deep in thought and participating in a ritual she had forgotten in the events of the day.

Stepping lightly she paced to and fro. "One, two, three, four, five, six." Everything to her was a sum, everything needed an answer. This is why she would ponder over the unanswerable questions in life. Some of the answerable questions were answered by logic or maths. Some by religion. When anyone asked her what the stars were made of, she would always tell them that they were the past king and queens of the lands, and that they were looking down on everything. Some questions were answered by personal experience or opinion. Mia was lacking experience in life. She was excelling in the theory, but just had to put her ideas into practice.

Counting a little louder, she was lost. When she was an adolescent her father had taken her out onto the dry savannah, hunting regularly. This was when she had a chance to try out her theory. Her father often educated her on the subject, as being a lioness she would have to hunt more often than himself, and he was getting old. He was a little clumsy, but she learnt, eventually.

Her counting helped with that too. At ease, she walked fowards and out of the shadows to sit on the dens dusty ground, numbering her breathing in her mind, tail swinging gently.

The sounds of heavy foot steps and dirt rolling under a dragged object sounded from outside. Before long, the young adolescent entered the den with a zebra in maw. With a bright smile he greeted his dear Aunt.

"I'm back, Aunt Mia. And I thought you might be hungry so I grabbed this for you," he spoke as he dragged the meal further into the den and away from the entrance. If the smell lingered too long, scavengers would be lured here and he was happy enough with just one other being in the den with him at this point. It was not too long ago that Ziza was here in the den as well, but she was gone now. Zeki was often time lonely when he was by himself, it was only natural, but having at least one other body beside him or nearby made him more calmer in the darkest nights.

"So what do you think? A place to spend a few nights. Personally delivered meals. Someone to be close to when you're cold at night. And, someone to talk to that understands you," Zeki smiled and purred as he settled himself beside her. She was still quite the female, related as she was, he was proud to know that she was related to him. It made sense after all, she was beautiful and he was handsome. The features came from somewhere.

"Go on, eat, I'll get more if you like."

She smiled back at him and stood up and approached him. "Aww, 'Zeki. Thankyou!" Mia was grateful for his hospitality and his manners. She laughed at him quietly. "Yes, you are a sweetheart." She admitted. Knowing he was family made her that much more comfortable and she smiled as she sat back down and he sat next to her. He definately knew how to treat a lady, and he definately knew how to treat a female. His upbringing had been excellent, without a doubt. She began to eat. She hadn't been hunting for a while and was quite hungry. Swallowing, she beamed again. "Thankyou." She gestured to the carcass to indicate that he should be eating too. He was a growing boy of course.

As he'd asked her about males, she turned to face him for a second. "So, being so kindhearted as you are, you must surely have a female of your own." Her maroon eyes slid around the den, it was certainly big enough for many cubs. "Any more coming into the family that I should know about?" She joked. Mia joked sometimes, lightly and mostly with caution. She had inherited her fathers joking nature, aswell as her intelligence. Well, she had spent most of her childhood with him.

"I appreciate the compliments, not many have quite said those words to me," he puffed a little and groomed her lightly as she ate her meal. He had met many females. Many have told him that he was helpful, kind, sweet, friendly, and charming. But never sweet heart. Grooming was a way to calm a female and get her attention, plus it allowed them to know that he was interested. Though, in this case, it was just family affection. "I'll pass this time, I am still full from my prior meal. This one is all yours."

"Oh, you must be joking. I live true to Great Aunt Sarabi's morals. Though I have spoken and played with many of females, I have yet to find that special one. I have been seeing a black lioness, Salem, a lot more recently, but that is because she needs me. She's quite alone and she is quite clueless on what to do. But, I will never mate until I am an adult, when my mane is grown out some. It doesn't seem right otherwise, don't you think?" he questioned as he moved back to grooming. "No more additions. Not yet."

Mia was calmed by his grooming as she continued his meal. It was nice to be affectionate with a family member other than her father. For having a large family, she actually didn't see her siblings that much. The chocolate lioness smiled gently between mouthfuls, tugging meat off the carcass gratefully.

She nodded with agreement. "She needs you, and you are sweet enough to stay by her side. A true friend, you make." It was nice to meet such a nice lion, especially one she was related to. Her whole family were nice really, except for Mbaya. But it was nice to meet someone nice after being aware of all the bad in the world, her mothers murder was hazed in her mind, but still an important fact. There was Mufasas murder too. She did not understand how they, the murderer, could become such evil creatures... But Ezekiel, her father and her siblings, were proof of the good in the lands.

"I agree with you." He was definately a smart one. "You are very sensible." Nodding with enthusiam she added. "I've never really put anything into practice, regarding males I mean. Ive never really met anyone outside family." She admitted.

Zeki smiled and purred, resting his head across the crane of her neck. His crimson eyes, ones normally seen within the royal family lines, which he just lucked to have, glanced up at her sweetly. She was such a sweet female, so knowledgeable. She was definitely capable of becoming a tutor for him. She was more than capable of being a wonderful mother too. She was sweet, smart, and beautiful.

"She's new to the wild life thing, she could hardly hunt and had no idea what a den was. So I would like her to stay with me for the time, until that is she finds her own den. She hasn't gotten back to me yet," he chuckled softly and licked her fur. A true friend...

Males, that was right, she never quite got into finding one as a mate.

"I was taught how to treat a female and how to pick one out from a crowd that would please me to have known. We just simply have to turn my teachings backwards where you are the female trying to get the attention of the male who wants to know you," he paused. "That made sense, right?"

Her eyes were full of sympathy for a second, how scary and horrible it must be to be stuck out in the world you are uneducated on, without being able to hunt. She was glad she had been taught these things and that she had a family and familiar lands to stay in. Ezekiel had saved this lioness though, how sweet of him.

On his remark about males, she nodded and swallowed. She understood him perfectly. "I just want to find someone to love, because family is important to me and I once day want to have one of my own." Pausing, the lioness thought a little more before continuing. "I want to meet someone genuine, so I don't want to appear shallow or desperate, I just want them to see me, so they know who they'd be falling for." She looked down shyly at the finished meal. She did really want a nice family life. Her father had told her she'd find someone eventually, that maybe she had to be adventerous and put herself out more. Mia hoped so.

"There are a lot of males out there, you just have to know who to look for. Though, do avoid those like Uncle Ezeoha who mates and for whatever reason, the females leave him and leave the cubs with him. Poor fellow does need a girl to help him, a single parent is not something one should look forward to," he sighed some and stepped away from her, turning to her with a grin.

An exercise.

"Males can be many things. They can be very very shy like my cousin, Shaji. Or they can be very outgoing to make himself known to the female, perhaps like myself. Or they can be the bottom of the low who flirts and pleases you, mates with you, and leaves you before you even know it, those you have to avoid," he spoke as he walked, pacing. "Many females seek males who would be ideal for their genes to have a good, strong family of good cubs. Strong body. Good features. And one in good health. My Uncle Trigger said I fit that quite well," Zeki laughed. "But I have to disagree."

"Moving on, females seek naturally seek the strongest, but that doesn't mean you have to give up love for traits. Love is much more important and it is what one looks forward to when one thinks of 'mates'. Pretend I am a male and you are a female, what do you do to attract me? As a male, I try to attract females."

She ran through the male personality types in her head, and agreed with the fact that 'Zeki definately knew how to make himself known. Nodding slightly, she agreed with Triggers opinion. "I think you have good features, personally." What did she want to find in a male? Good genes, yes. But how about one that understood her, would care for her and not leave. Was she perhaps asking for too much?.

She went blank at his exercise question. What would she do? She knew nothing other than to be friendly? Mia looked confused and tilted her head slightly. Confused, my this was a rarity for her. It was obvious she had much to learn in this subject, and she was very keen. "I don't know.." She admitted. "What should I do?"

Zeki blushed a little. He was quite happy how he was turning out for a male. A good body. Polite. A good personality. However, most of his teachings from Ezeoha wasn't very much use in finding a female for himself as a mate. He looked at her and nodded, "Thank you, Mia. Uncle Trigger is self conscious and he is quite the male. He's really big and really strong, but he constantly asks me what I think about him. Vain as it is, he doesn't believe he's all that great," the male could only chuckle as he remembered his uncle. How a male like him not have a mate was strange, but he knew he had been with a female before. Knowledge like his did not come from nowhere.

"Well, just be yourself, silly! Being yourself is the most honest thing you can do for anyone. There is no point in lying about yourself," Zeki sat before her and smiled softly.

She nodded as he thanked him and then went on to describe his uncle. She could imagine Trigger perfectly, though she doubted her imagination conjured anything similar to the real lion. Mia imagined him mostly as Zeki had described him, Strong and large. Quite the male, as her nephew had said. She was sure Trigger would look like Zeki, and imagined him to be quite attractive.

Be herself. "But, if I launch into a conversation about numbers or something I find highly interesting, or If I start counting, it's hardly going to look attractive is it?" She worried. Pausing, she looked as if she drifted into thought. Mia was smart, she'd try and figure this out. "I guess.." She started gently. "I'd start off, how I did with you..." Her gaze shifted around the den. "Introduce myself, be friendly, smile?" The chocolate lioness suggested.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 13, 2008 11:36 am

Zeki chuckled. "Yes! That's the first thing you should do. Manners are a good thing to have. Always introduce yourself before asking another's name. Most likely, they'll give it if you introduce yourself. Common courtesy. Smiling helps a lot too," he smiled and dipped his head.

"Bowing, for me, is my way of showing that 'you have my respect' so they can feel a bit more at east," he spoke. "And so I give my name. My name is Ezekiel." he greeted again. "Sometimes, the male will give their name first, but whoever gets the chance gets it I guess."

The nephew pondered for a moment.

"If you started to count or talk about numbers, you'd likely confuse the lion you would be talking to. But I guess you could try and see where it goes. Either he understands or doesn't. If not, explain. Heh, it might keep him around a bit to listen to you."

"I see!" She smiled, she'd normally done this when meeting others, so she was okay so far. "Bowing?" She nodded, it must be seen as a great sign of respect, so he said, but she had never really used to gesture.
No maths talk, she got it. She realised that others could be quite confused or intimidated if she talked about numbers sometimes. Maybe she could keep him interested by talking about family? Or asking them something polite about themselves. Hm, that was a thought. "In regards to personal questions, how far is too far?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:32 pm

"How far is too far... Well, I guess it really depends on the person. If they are open like I am, I wouldn't tell you a lie or hide anything. You have the right to know about me, right? But I guess some males could become embarrassed if you asked questions about their love lives or perhaps about... their faults," he paused. He didn't quite know how far personal was really, he didn't think anything that someone asked him if it was personal. If they asked he was a virgin, he would agree. If they asked if he was straight or gay or bi, he would have to say, well, oddly, bi-curious, but leaned more to the straight. He had an affinity for the females.

Wiggling his nose, causing his whiskers to do the same, he smiled.

"Come on, let's try to carry a conversation as you would with a stranger. Just, do what you think is right and I'll try to be... well, not me," Zeki raised himself and moved aways a bit and put on a serious expression, his head held high, his chest puffed out, trying to hold a regal posture.

"Who are you, stranger?" he asked, throwing his voice in the deep end of the tone scale. "What are you doing here in my den?"

Hm, yeah. She knew what he meant.

Acting? Right, she could do this, she'd just show him what she meant right? Putting on a smile she straightened herself and tried her best to look decent but not overly attractive or begging for attention. As Zeki through his tone and started to speak, she bowed her head. "I'm sorry for the intrusion, My name is Mia" She raised her head to look at the supposed stranger and offer them a smile" She wondered if that was a good start, but didn't exactly know how to answer the "strangers" question.
